Using Aftermarket S10 Spindles to Lift a 78 Firebird (How and Why) (Ep.37)

- This car has been a huge project recently, and not just the engine swap aspect that we have been covering but a fair amount of suspension work as well. I decided that I wanted a little more height out of the suspension and had an idea of how to do it in a somewhat unusual way, which has not been without challenges but it has been an interesting puzzle to try to figure out along the way. This long episode is the first part of this suspension lift, covering broad concepts along with all sorts of ideas and problems. It has been a laborious undertaking to put all of these parts and this video together, I hope you find something to enjoy!
Timeline of filming: January 25th, 2021 - March 10th, 2021
Song List (Order of First Appearance):
00:01 She's Gone - The 126ers
03:06 Rainy Sundays - The 126ers
09:40 Who Can Say - The 126ers
17:55 Letter Box - Marionette
26:25 The Bluest Star - The 126ers
33:27 Tell the Angels - Letter Box
39:38 Promises - Letter Box
46:54 The Woods - Silent Partner

As usual I must apologize for the delay in releasing a new video, but surely that is expected by now. I know some people aren't going to like this video or the concept behind it (not to mention the execution) and despite a ton of work it is still a bit messy but I really just have to move on at some point. There are a lot of concepts to cover and there will probably be two more half hour episodes to finish out the suspension work. I'm daydreaming about getting back to editing simple videos again but right now this big project needs to be seen through (for once). Thank you very much for sticking around through all the delays and periods of silence, I really appreciate every one of you!
We missed you!!!!
Dont rush yourself, quality need time and we know that😁
I know for sure ide rather have a quality video over a rushed video. And generally life gets busy. Don't rush yourself, keep making great content.
Glad you're back
glad to see you posted, be safe and try to keep the burnout a little better
One could fall into a coma and wake up without missing a Fuzzy Dice update. LOL! All good, I enjoy them all. Even if I have to rewatch.
Hey now, I think people need something to watch when they wake up and time releases appropriately
@FuzzyDiceProjects Haha! I'm still waiting to see if the Pinto ever cooled down! I'm certain this year will give me a lot of Fuzzy Dice notifications.
@@FuzzyDiceProjects STANCE NATION!!!!!
@@jackdiesel96there’s some guy or gal in the distant future who will binge this entire build series.😮
What year is it? Where is all the airsoft content?
I really liked the ending of the video when you had a kind of heart-to-heart about building this car for you and not other people. I feel like in today’s culture especially on the internet, people are constantly critical of the creative decisions of other people, and need to hear what you said.
If you don’t like what someone else is making, that’s ok. They aren’t making it for you, they are making it for them.
Firstly stop apologizing for delays, your awesome and everyone will wait for the great content! Now, my story time. My first project car is my now complete 1967 Camaro. Nothing special about the car but it is now :). One of my biggest experiments and learning moment was when one day working on it my father in-law (a former racer) walked over with a rack and pinion which was hanging on the wall. Flaming river had a kit, but boy was it expensive. We started building brackets and got it fit to the spindles. My brother in-law said "bump steer" and that took us hours of measuring to determine it was good or bad. Satisfied the last piece was to commit and cut the column to add a D shaft and u-joints. Complete with the modification and very excited I jumped in and turned the wheel. My excitement turned to horror as when I turned left, the wheels went right. Doh! Front steer vs rear steer, pinto vs omni, etc etc, beer time and a few laughs later, I ordered the flaming river kit. Love watching your projects! Thank you!
agreed
The gap between your videos is so big (and theres so many videos already and so much info in each i can use) im able to rewatch the whole series every time and it not get repetitive. So its a plus for you and me.
Haha that's good to know! Glad you can rewatch older videos and still find something to enjoy! I'm sorry that it's your only option sometimes but you're welcome for the opportunity
@@FuzzyDiceProjects I've never had a video series that I've rewatched this many times and haven't gotten bored yet. I've watched the entire 78 series 14 times already. And I'll probably watch them all again a month or 2 from now. You should feel special. The only other series I can do that with is. junkyard digs satellite revival. And f250 revival. So don't be sorry. It means you put a lot of work in to your videos and they come out great. Id rather slow coming videos that are amazing than the common fast produced garbage that most people seem to watch today for no reason. I've also watched all your other videos multiple times. Pinto. S10. 91. Jeep Cherokee. Silverado. And even the Datsun. There's just something special about your style
Rewatching your playlists is somethings I've done several times hehe
@@mad-mason0319 I really enjoy these videos but it has never occurred to me to rewatch the series. Its a good idea, I'll go back to the start of the series and it will give me plenty of content to keep me entertained until the next episode comes out. Thanks for the suggestion.
Ive been watching for years. I really hope we get to see the end of the build before I die.
Almost looks like a Gambler 500 car after the work. It's not a style I'd have built, opting more for the resto-mod daily driver that you mention at the end of the video. But as always the amount of planning and work you put into this set of alterations was fantastic! I enjoyed it immensely with my Sunday morning caffeine!
this car screams Mad Max to me and it makes me love this car even more. it has been a good long while but I'm happy this episode came out, I know a Mad Max style Firebird probably isn't the look you are going for but man this car looks insane. I love it! Beautiful car!
Hope he leans into it, and goes all mad max on it.
I've never seen a lifted firebird and I'm here for it! The content is worth the wait!
I felt the same about the height of my “65” GTO,I wanted ride height to be about two inches higher so I changed out my springs front & rear. The front coils I was able to buy thru my local speed shop & the rear coils I used rear coils from a junk yard Cadillac, shortened them, heated about a half coil cherry red & bent that coil to fit the GTO rear end mount. All done this gave me a great ride & the two inch front & rear lift I was looking for! There was enough room in front end adjustment to get the perfect alignment. The ride & handling was better than factory & it looked great!
I'm digging the 70's "street freak" vibe.
I'm really REALLY glad you're doing what you want instead of what the trends and other people's tastes want you to do! It's that kind of hot-rodding, resto-modding, car building, whatever you want to call it, that makes the hobby/profession SO diverse and so much fun for people to enjoy. I really like your thought process and your thrifty/macguyver approach to your projects while still delving into technical detail sometimes. Love your videos and I hope you keep them coming!
Would I do this to my own car? No. Do I enjoy watching you do it to yours? Yes. Do I like that you've built something unique that you love? Hell Yes! Keep doing what you're doing, I think it's brilliant.
These videos are always worth the wait! I'd much rather have this level of content/presentation over any rush job to meet some truly irrelevant deadline. Quality over quantity! And these always deliver, never disappoint!
It’s not the build I like per se, but the way you find solutions to get a very complex project done in a normal shop, with normal tools, a realistic budget, humor, and watching you truly enjoy what your doing means more. So many RUclipsrs get to a point where they have every tool, a dream shop, and yet they hate what they’re doing and you can tell it in their videos. I guess I’m trying to say I love the genuineness of your content. Thanks!
Seems like an incredibly convoluted way to raise a Firebird... I love it!
This might be the first time I've ever seen a high-car appreciator online. I personally really like the look of low and high cars, so it's refreshing to finally see a RUclips project where they aren't going as low as possible. I think a 70s muscle car is the perfect choice for this style, kinda makes me want to see some dirt racing lol. Keep up the great work!
The editing, attention to detail, and actual footage caught for this video, scratches an itch in my brain I didn’t know I had. Impeccable work!
Great video. The amount of research, wrenching and ability to deliver an entertaining and informative video is honestly 2nd to none. I also appreciate doing what you want on your vehicle. Of course paying tribute to your father is always the right way 🤘
I'm gonna have to come back to watch this entire video during my lunch break in two hours. Looking forward to what you've got cooked up this time!
This video was a roller coaster for me. At first, I thought to myself "you're ruining the car, why would you spend all this money, time, and effort lifting a firebird of all things?" Then as the video progressed I saw how much of a labor of love it was and your closing section at the end really cemented it for me. Thanks for the reminder of what's important on project cars. I also kinda dig how it looks now, I'm not gonna lie 😅
I love it. Puts me in mind of the old AMC Eagle.
I am now fully vested in this build! This is EXACTLY the look I love on these cars. I did a '74 Dart Sport like this in the 80's using 3/4 ton IH spring leafs added to the rear and longer torsion bars.. Great job!
as a person who lives out in the country and loves hotrods a lifted muscle car like that is something ive always wanted to see and do.
Too many people today build projects to get view or clicks. Glad to see someone building something for themselves!
Can't wait to watch this later! Thanks for uploading!
It's always a good day when you upload! I do like the direction you and the Firebird are taking!
Brother. I am about 2.5 years already restoring/improoving my Corvette LT4 with limited time, money and knowledge and in a foreign country (that means far away from the easy parts, ebay, amazon US, summit racing etc) and sometimes I just get frustrated with the ammount of work and effort I need to put on tho achieve the level of restauration that I am aimming(wich is not high). But you… Jesus, you are in another level. Congrats for the resillience of that project. Hats of for you with all this modifications and adaptations.
I LOVE the outro! Man i get so excited when i see u posted. Thank u for bringing us along on ur journey!
This randomly came across my feed. Was skimming through it thinking "oh that's kinda neat, lifted firebird probably has a 350 in it" then I saw the blower sticking out after you dropped the rear end and boy, am I now excited to see where this goes!
This channel is just the best. It has come so far along over the years, that I subbed at I believe around 8k subs, and still enjoy watching your videos, as you're very informative, and very smart when it comes to working on cars. I remember the v8 swap in the blazer working with not a lot of tools that you have nowadays. You my friend have come so far in this channel, and to that hats of to you!
That ending bit got me in the feels, I am glad you are building your dream, and to heck with the haters
No need to apologize for realizing YOUR project. We can all learn from what you are showing us and then go use that for our own purposes. Great video, as always !!
I can't say that I like how it looks but it sure is an interesting project and a very entertaining video. Thanks for sharing, I look forward to seeing how it turns out.
I absolutely LOVE this conversion. Well done 👍👍👍
Always love this channel! You make high quality videos and fun automotive projects.
Love this channel man. The narration. The editing. The odd ball ideas. The way you get to your end results. Love it all! Thanks again man.
I live for every video you release man. I'm building a 77 firebird myself! You're the reason I fell in love with firebirds
I know you work so hard to make such great quality videos... I really appreciate it. Love what you did here!
I am so psyched for this! Love this series
I’m always looking forward to seeing your next update. Thank you for what you do
glad to see a video from you. Appreciate the content. Don’t rush yourself for us, enjoy working on the projects.
Glad you're back and that you're still around!
Great video. That was definitely one hell of a rabbit hole. It looks great
New vid! Very welcome sight, thanks for uploading. You keep doing you with your car :)
Super excited to see how this looks once it's fully fleshed out. Great video as always!
WOOHOO NEW FUZZY DICE PROJECTS CONTENT! So glad to hear from you again, it's excellent!
I really get your message there at the end, I've had people tell me my projects are stupid, or a waste of time before, or that I should spend my money they they would spend their money. But personally I ENJOY spending like $4,000 on parts for a 32 year old truck with 207k miles on it that I dragged out of a field, and this is something I do for my enjoyment so screw off
I love your videos, thank you for continuing to post instead of just giving up like other channels ive watched over the years
That is soooo badass! Can't wait to see it run.
Great episode. Love your approach! Love you make your cars, well, YOUR Cars!
1 hour of pleasure. Thank you and well done
Glad to see you’re still creating and wrenching for you! Great vid man!
Glad to see you post, and throw some money at it. It’s your build and we’re along for the ride. Enjoying it! Keep it up bro!!
Fuzzy dice projects I was a professional mechanic for several years before I became a police officer. I love your content. I’m not always on the same page as you are but I love your attention to detail and I love your independence in doing what you want. Your videos are always entertaining and you sometimes take an approach I would have never thought of. I think you are doing great with your endeavors and it’s fun to watch and sometimes I’m thrown off with the things you do but it seems to work and get the results you were wanting. I have a buddy who threw me for a loop and sometimes his insane plans would work much like yours. I can’t quite figure out how you guys come up with these solutions but it proves to work for you. God bless the independent thinking that comes with you guys I can seriously appreciate it. Keep doing what you are doing. I love the content and might I say I think the overall project is a winner i guess it’s true there are 1000 ways to skin a cat. Kudos to you and your thought process it’s truly a gift. This must be how discovery’s happen someone who thinks outside the box. I just think how I learned but my friend who I taught lots of things sometimes would sway from my teachings but would get a great result I never expected. It makes me think. This must be how geniuses think they are willing to go outside the norm of what is excepted and come up with their own solutions. I enjoy every minute of it.
I like it. It makes me think of a few G Body cars that were not exactly lifted, but definitely higher than normal that I used to see around. I’m looking forward to see where this goes! I love your presentation! One of my favorite channels!!! Keep up the good work
it's always a great day when I see a new video from you :) thanks for the great content.
Been waiting for some new vids. Always love it when you upload.
always a good day to see a video from you!
I am 100% for the lift and the engine + blower combo. I LOVE the look of it!
Always a great day seeing a post from fuzzy dice projects, the videos are always worth the wait, keep up the great work man 👍
It is always a great day to see an upload from this fantastic dude!
This one the best videos I've watched in awhile. Thank you
I have a 79 Camaro, have had the car for 22 years now. I dropped the front 2" and lifted the back 1" to fit skinnies in the front and fat tires in the rear on 15" wheels. I like the classic muscle car look.
For the life of me, I can not grasp the desire to lift the front. BUT I can respect your desire to make it how you like. I enjoyed the in depth video of your work. Makes me want to knock the dust of the Camaro and play with it some. Haven't touched the car in 5 years now.
You, sir, have my total respect. Absolutely love your videos and your knowledge - and your awesome Firebird! Keep it up brother. Look forward to more!
As soon as i saw you posted a new video i got super excited and instanly started watching! im super invested in your channel
I love your videos Mike!!! I hope to see plenty more this year!
Awesome job! Man I love watching your videos. Wish they came out more often.
Very glad to see another upload. When it goes this long my greatest fear is that you walked away. Hope you are well, this little corner of the internet is here for you.
love the video, banter, and jokes. been missing these series and cant wait for more. not the look I'd want but its not for me! your damn right. i cant wait to see where this goes and appreciate all the time and effort that goes into these amazing videos. thank you!
I'm always excited to see your vids come up on my feed. You do you, take all the time you need. We're all fighting our own battles. No need to rush on our account.
You have the perfect attitude about personal cars. Also, You cram more info into an hour video than anybody I know. Well done.
Definitely has that Mad Max vibe. I love it. It's your car, so make it the way you want and let others complain.
Wasn’t totally into it at the beginning of the vid. Now I kinda dig it. It’s different in a good way. That’s what this community is lacking in recent years. Good job and keep it up.
Fully agree. Your car, your style. I like it - another great video that made an hour go by really fast
That lift is awesome! Really like the hight you got it to! Keep it up!
The reason I subbed so many years ago was because you try things often things people tell you not to, and what you do is different and a bit crazy. In a sea of same old car RUclipsrs, you do you and that’s awesome 👏
This car is turning into an absolute monster and I love every aspect of it, I wanna call it mad max but it’s gonna end up a lot cleaner than that and reminds me of the early 70s street freak cars. Your in-depth videos help me a lot with confidence when it comes to taking on my own project. keep up the good work and honestly the months long delay between videos is fine, your production value is well worth it.
This firebird is the coolest damn project Ive seen in my life. So unique, and it's going to be absolutely killer to see this thing drive. Love the project!
A new video! Woohoo! Great job, Fuzz!
I love your videos man, I check your channel at least once every few days hoping to see a new vid.
Well done! The new stance brings me joy as well. :-)
Thank you this came at the perfect time dude! I really needed this
Love to see new videos! Keep up the good work.
One of the best parts about your videos is you making the changes you want, rather than whatever is the trend. I think the car looks awesome lifted like that, but the fact that it doesn't matter what I think is great. Keep doing you. 😊
I want you in my Garage. You definitely have patience and know how to make things work. Nice work man!!!!
I really enjoy the content you share with your audience. I’ve watched some of your videos multiple times. I don’t think people realize the amount of work that goes into making every episode. Keep up the good work!
Good for you. Love to see you embracing your choices.
lovin the look so far, keep up the good work
damn! fuzzy dice! i really thought you weren't coming back. glad you did, this is an awesome development, can't wait see more of it
it aint my thing but its still so awesome lol. seeing a blown lifted firebird at cars and coffee would make me smile.
Well said at the end. I wasn't sure about this at the beginning of the video but at the end it looks better than i pictured. Definately cool and unique
I have been dreaming about what I would do to my own firebird if I ever got one and a lift was definitely on my list. I’m so glad that someone feels the same as me 😂
This makes me think back to that burnout video when you hinted at this idea I’m glad you made it happen :) I’ve loved following this channel I always watch your videos as soon as they come Out! Keep it up man! Looking forward to more content!
Ahhh I've been waiting this all month, but uts worth it. An hour of masterpiece. Good to see you back sir! I lost count about how much I checked your channel hoping for a new video to pop up. But its okay.
Freaking love it .. keep the videos rolling!!!
Yess! A new video from you. I know what I will watch later!
Very interesting idea. Glad you made the video.
Dude this project is awesome!
It’s more a chuckle when I see it. But it’s actually pretty awesome!
Im soo happy that he made a new video.I was getting worried for a while but I'm happy that he made a new video keep up the good work my guy and the car looks great.👍👍
