I have purchased dozens of chicks from Cackle Hatchery over the years since 2014. They are always true to breed, I have never lost any chicks, they always send extras and they all have lived and laid beautiful eggs. I highly recommend them! Your dog is the cutest! Thanks for sharing❤️

*Nothing is sweeter than opening up a box of peepers arriving in good health!* I LOVE chickens and share your laughter and delight. I love the Easter Egger's personalities. They are so friendly-- almost like a dog wanting to be petted. I adore the Lavender Orpingtons also. It is such a delight to gift someone with a carton of GORGEOUS multi-colored eggs from your own backyard hens. Wrapped with Twine and Love! I have gotten a couple of brutal, mean roosters who beat up the hens but they were dispatched into the stew pot pronto May you be blessed with a handsome Lavender Orpington rooster who is gentle, fertile AND kind to the hens too.. Chickens add so much fun to the homestead with their antics.

Ago I got to go to CACKLE HATCHERY, Just down the road from where I lived at that time.. Just gorgeous, Heather. One of my hens hatched 2 chicks last November... l prayed for both to be girls, and God gave me 2 more layers. Mum watched over them well, in an adjacent pen, and they are now nearly full size, and fully integrated. God is good. 😊❤️🐣

❤How incredibly delightful to see and listen to these precious baby chicks! You are SO blessed to be able to have chickens at your homestead! Where I live, by law, I am not allowed to have even one chicken on my yard…but by law, you are allowed to have three dogs per household! I live in town I know, but I do have a bigger lot, and I certainly would have room for a few chickens…I love chickens! ❤
Man! Chickens are the best! I wish more cities allowed them 💔
I always brood my chix in my living room, so all the animals get acclimated to each other. Dogs, cats, and chix, all get used to each other, so no one is alarmed or aggressive, and the sight and sounds are familiar. 🥰 I also handle the chix regularly, so they get used to being touched, and will come to me when called.
I really think making them part of the family is so key!!!! And Mina has been taking turns holding all of them ALL DAY! hahahaha They are loving it!

My daughter used to keep a few chickens and she got one from a battery farm. For a few days the chicken sat in the corner and wouldn't move around, then she realised she was free and could join in with the other hens. After that when my daughter would go outside to feed them or do jobs she would sit on her shoulder and make cooing noises in her ear.

These babies are just too cute! I love them at this age. My all time favorite cartoon character is Foghorn Leghorn, a large chicken with a southern accent! Look him up.

they grow SO FAST!!!! They are all taking turns being held by Mina today. hahaha
What fun! My granddad raised chickens. He had 2 houses at home on the farm that housed 10,000-15,000 in one house. They were laying hens then he raised pullets. Was fun helping him.

So cool they can send you females at that age! Great setup. They are adorable. Every time I go to tractor supply I want to take some home but don't have anything set up and need to learn more. I'm sure you're the best mom to your chicks ❤

What fun, Heather. They are adorable. I remember grandma getting chicks delivered. You could hear the cheep, cheep. They are so soft and adorable. This brought back such fond memories of when I was a little girl. Time well spent. I wish I had the place to put them. Thank you for sharing with us. I think I told you one of my grandsons is raising chickens. Can you order and have them delivered somewhere else, if I want to send my grandson some. He's been hatching his own now for a couple of years, but would give him a different variety.
Absolutely! They just need his phone number so when they arrive at the post office they can call him to pick up!😁

Love the chicks. Such cute feeder and waterer. We hope to get some more to add to our flock this year. Getty is so cute. Great protector. That is great that they give hens. One year we got chicks from a certain hatchery. I was dead which I understood but they sent a rooster when I ordered hens and the rooster like you said was a different breed and when I called them they said since it was only 10 percent of my order they wouldn't give no money back. So we never ordered from them again. I love americanas . Yes the orpingtons are sweet. Our rooster is a blue orpington and he is so sweet. He keeps the girls from fighting too. I use Ryan of Valley Farms Hatchery in Alabama.
He started it as a teenager. Has grown substantially over the years and is family owned.
I have never heard of him before but now I have to go check him out!!!!

I have always been happy with my chicks from Cackle Hatchery. I was not impressed with Murray McMurry. Like you said they sent me a surprise chickens that were not of the breed I bought and always a rooster. I ordered some from Myers Hatchery last year because Cackle didn’t have all the breeds I wanted. I ordered 6 hens of each breed and every breed I bought I had at least two roosters.
I definitely didn't want to mention any names but yeah....I do not mind a free rooster at all! Heck I had 6! But I NEED them to be the same breed as what I have..... what if I were breeding them? And I do not want an aggressive breed with my heavy, slow waddling hens.... they will be attacked!

How exciting!!!!! I can definitely do that.... you can find them in my older videos as well. We are expecting 3-5" of snow, so once the weather changes, I will take you out there and show you our set up.

i have silkies, last time i let my hens go broody but i bought chicks this time to get started early, i have 12 silkies and mine are two weeks old now so going into the teenage stage. Yours are so cute, have fun

i am in north east Ct and mine do fine in fact my hen laid eggs all winter. They are not meat birds but just for eggs and as pets.@@TheKneadyHomesteader
What a sweet dog dad ! My dog thinks everything is her new baby and she has to keep it safe and take care of it … she has lots of cats that were stray kittens she made me take in and keep … I draw the line at chickens tho … she can have some chickens but that’s it ! No goats no lambs no dogs no more cats lol but chickens … yep we can get some of those lol

Thank you Heather for sharing the Cackle Hatchery with us. I'm wanting to order another batch of buff orpington. I find their roosters temperament to be the best ever. 😊 I plan on order 15 to 20 more to add to my flock❤ I was able to call the Hatchery and get more information on their chicks and when is best to order for our Michigan weather. I really dont want the chicks in the house too long. They go to the garage then to their own coop until they are acclimated with the older flock.

*How are the Cackle Hatchery chickens over time? Like at 4 & 5 years old?* I've bought chicks from another huge, well-known hatchery and they had serious health issues by their third summer. I always gave them a long winter rest (with no artificial lights) in a large dry hen house with organic feed-- but had hens dropping dead randomly over many months for no apparent reason. Once they hit age three they were having heart attacks. My Vet who suggested the chickens were bred to produce extremely heavily over their first three seasons-- and then they can't sustain their health. They burn out and drop dead from metabolic and heart problems. *THANKS for sharing your experience with this hatchery. I will definitely order my next chicks from CACKLE HATCHERY!*
They do burn out! I am like you. I give their little bodies rest over the winter. I always have 1 or 2 eggs which i am happy with. This is my third season ordering from them. So i dont have any vhivken older than 2, but so far so good! And their coloring is gorgeous!
I order from cackle as well, I did have issues with an order. I ordered sexed chicks but ended up with 3 roosters, I also had 2 chicks die 24 hours after arrival but they did refund me so customer service was very helpful. We kept one rooster, found a home for another rooster …. Culled the last rooster because he was a meany… even though he was hand raised and loved on daily he ended up being a real jerk! Lol last year I had a broody hen and I let her do all the work and boy did that open my eyes. Although I want to expand my flock, I will probably have one of our hens hatch eggs and take care of the babies…. So much easier. We have a real issue with bird flu out here in California so I’m reluctant to add outside sources of chicks at this time but I love love LOVEEEEE seeing your new babies!!! Thanks for sharing! I just adore your egg colors!
Oh man i am so sorry you have had so many issues. You just never know. We had a broody hen who needed help hatching so in the incubator they went. That was so much fun!!!!! I wont be mad if we get some barnyard babies this year 😆

My black copper Marans are my favorite. The eggs are the prettiest Dark brown!! I do have a variety - Isa browns,Americanas,Bra amas,Buff Orphingtons,Wyandotte..... They are all beautiful
