Welcome back to The Kneady Homesteader channel and today, we are talking all about my dreadlock hair extensions as well as my eyelash extensions that I do myself! I know this video will NOT be for everybody..... this video is for those who had questions about my hair and lashes. Please do not think this is an open invitation to leave me hate, I am NOT asking for opinions on whether you like my hair or not..... I honestly do not care either way..... I am confident at 51 years old in my own skin and do NOT need or seek outside validation about my appearance. I am short, chubby, with thin balding hair, I have missing teeth, walk many days with a cane, and I have too many injuries and disabilities to list. But.... my GOD, my GOD, He is sovereign and good and I AM ALIVE!!!! And, my Father in heaven LOVES ME..... and there is nothing mean or cruel you can say to me that will make me ashamed or embarrassed or hide how I look or what I have survived. I am a warrior queen and I am grateful to be alive one more day! HalleluYAH! I’m 63 and for the first time in my life, I’ve let my hair grow long. I’ve had friends tell me that I’m too old to have long hair. I’m at the point in life where I just don’t care about what people think. As long as I’m pleasing the Lord, I’ll do what I want to do. I LOVE your dreads! You are a beautiful woman of God.

I married at 67. to a university professor of art . As retirement approached, he expressed a desire to let his hair grow long. He did, so I did, as well. He wears his glorious grey hair in a simple ponytail at the back. Very hippie, as he will always be. I pull mine to the side and also wear a pony tail, with pretty covered elastic. Husband LOVES brushing my hair, and I love it, too. We enjoy the freedom from styling and expensive haircuts. I have several inches cut off two or three times a year. I'm with you. God gave us hair, let's use it to glorify HIM. (I'm now 75)
Let your long hair be free! I'm 67, and long hair is so much easier! No washing everyday or expensive haircuts. Ponytail to pull it up out of Ohio sweat, even love my free silver highlights!
I'm in my 50's and LOVE my long long hair!
Me too I am 63 and I let my hair grow out and now it down almost to my waist and it naturally gray and beautiful!! Yes some say I’m too old!! Oh well going to do me!! Lol
Heather I guess there are still people out there that never learned the old saying that if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all. If you love your dreads that’s all that matters! Most importantly GOD loves you just as you are ❤️

I love your joy with the dreads and lashes. I have always had super short hair, and like you, I could care less what others think. It’s easy for me. Your look is beautiful and I loved learning about it. If folks aren’t interest, let them please just move along. I can’t wait for more content when you are able.
I think your hair looks great...I have horrible sparse and thin hair and just keep it under a stretchy headband like you showed or a knit hat. I am in awe of your boldness as you heal...it is incredibly beautiful...God is blessed you immensely.

You look gorgeous in your dreds! You know the older I get, the less I care about what people think of me. I'm 72 and have long hair - I keep it mostly in a braid - I don't have time for styling shorter hair and it just is easier for me. Your smile is so beautiful Heather! I would LOVE you to video how your friend puts them in.
I think people who leave hate comments are miserable people. After all you've been through, it's shameful that they think they need to throw a dart. You are simply beautiful.
I noticed and loved your dreads, but I had no idea that you had them to help give your hair a rest while you recover (and that they could actually do that). Consider me educated! I'm glad that the rude people aren't making you feel badly, but I'm also glad that you're speaking up about the negativity, as that may help lift the spirits of someone going through something similar, who doesn't have your self-confidence. :)

Admittedly, I am not a fan of dreads, however I now have a great appreciation of this hairstyle being a healing element for her scalp and hair. Plus, it heals her hands, fingers, and arms working the oil throuhair.This has been a dread full education. 😄😄😄

I just started with boho locks last month because I'm trying to maintain a professional look as well as grow my now 1 year old farm. So so so much easier, as you said for yours, and giving my natural hair a break from further damage from the stuff I used for decades as I transition from using a perm. Continue doing you, my sista. I'm so proud of you and all you've done. 🎉

It definitely could if not done correctly or if you were extensions that are too heavy for your hair. As a kid my mom used to braid my hair with a torn rag she would wet. and I would sleep with this torn sheets in my hair. in the morning she would take the braids out and I would have wavy hair. it is very similar to that. the dread is the 3rd strand in a 3 strand braid. so unless you do it incorrectly or neglect maintaining it, it is just like braiding your hair and keeping it braided and safe. great question though! I wondered the same thing before I tried them. These are super light in weight.
My Momma used to braid our long hair, leaving them in for a week. Now at age 70, my hair is still long and healthy. I only wash it once a week. Heather is spot on about resting our hair. God bless you.

awwww thank you!!!! I have a sore spot in my mouth we are trying to get taken care of, I am hoping once that heals when we get my upper denture fitting better, I will be able to talk a bit better. But.... I would rather a lisp than to go back to being in all that pain with broken teeth. I am so grateful that I feel better!

Due to some health issue my hair as well as lashes has fallen out too and just doesn't look healthy at all. By you sharing your knowledge it helps everyone. You look beautiful and you are a walking miracle indeed. What a good God we have! So thankful He is our Savior! I wish the entire world knew Him as their own. Heather, I'm so glad you posted this. I absolutely love love your wavy dreads. You look absolutely beautiful 😍. I've been watching you for a while, and I have learned so much from you. I learned how to can dried beans and how to make delicious bread and so many other things, and now here I am 57 yrs old, wanting wavy dreads, hahaha. Being real. You are such an inspiration to many. Like you, I have never liked the word "disability." I worked for a company here in Michigan that employs people with "disabilities," and I always told them we're not disabled but rather we are ability challenged. We're able to do things just in a different way than most. I love your faith in GOD, positivity, and how you just let negativity roll off you. You are sooo adorable! Love your hair and lashes ! I wear regular extensions and you’re right, they do let your hair rest. I don’t have to wash my hair near as much. I also don’t have to use a curling iron so much. I use Velcro rollers after drying and they leave my hair so much fuller than a curling iron. Do what makes you smile!❤

Seeing you so filled with love and light and joy is the BEST!!!! I have long thin hair and with thyroid issues have lost most of the volume. If I were financially able I would do the dredlocks too! Great look on you and I used to do the glue on lashes they were wonderful and that was 15 years ago when not as advanced. Highly recommend them too.

yes! they call it a "protective hairstyle" basically your hair is braided and stays braided and away from the elements like hot tools and styling products, hair brushes......

Ok my gosh this was so so interesting because I had no idea that you actually have to create the dreadlock extentions exactly as if it was natural hair. I am so glad you shared this. How COOL this is!! Who knew! They are very beautiful Heather. I haved loved seeing you with them. And doing whatever it takes for anyone's soul to help them feel them is perfectly ok and there should be no one judging anyone.
The people that do are very jealous people suffering not good lives that have to bully. So yes just ignore. No one is twisting theirs arms to watch. If it makes them feel good trying to hurt people, well we know their lives are very sad and glad we are not like them.

This is a very very true statement. I have actually had a few of my haters followed. Tracked and traced on the internet to find out who some of them are. And yes, they are insufferable, live miserable and very sad, lonely lives and I pray for their repentance and salvation one day. That’s all we can do. 🥺

My hair is thin and I'm always losing hair. Maybe I need to try dreads for a while. I have wanted to have eyelashes and have purchased several different types but I have never known how to put them on so they have set in a drawer. I'm going to get them out and figure it out. I absolutely love, love, love your hair! I'm 66 years young and I'm sitting here watching you and I want dreads like yours! I have long hair but it is so much work! It is fine hair but up until 2020 I used to have a ton of it. I could have donated to a third world country of bald people! Hairdressers hated it because it took so long to blow dry it. Alas, in 2020 I got covid and lost some hair. That combined with being my husband's caregiver (can be very stressful) my hair was coming out in bunches. I have combatted that with more prayer to help me deal with the situations in life and it seems to have helped. Even though, it still takes 4 hours to air dry my hair, and that's after I do some blow drying. In the past I never really cared for dreadlocks because it just looked like a matted mess but yours don't look like that. Maybe I will try a few strands, like around my face, and let everyone get used to it then gradually build up. Hmm, I will think on this. Anyway, you are a beautiful woman, inside and out. It always surprises me when someone goes on social media and spews ugliness. My grandma always said if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. Of course, she said keep your mouth shut because she was blunt. Anyway, you have a healthy attitude toward those people. God bless you and your family!

I have really long hair. I wanted dreads so bad a few years ago. My hair is fine and thinning. I don’t need the extensions though and I was told it would have to be forever because they would have to be cut out. I don’t cut my hair so there’s that. Yours are gorgeous.

Heather you are so inspiring God is still using you in mighty ways. I have learned that people are mean and cruel to others when they have low self esteem and very insecure in themselves bravo for blocking them and not listening. God has saved you for his glory and honor he knows our struggles and wants his children to feel good about themselves. With what you have been through and still going through you have found what makes it easier for you and every woman wants to look nice and have good hair and I love your hair it makes you look beautiful and you glow.
