Shaving my head for 25 years. Could have a full head of hair however the bald look is for me. Going to investigate the 'leaf' shaver. I've used many products. Electric will never be able to beat blade. Anything with a trimmer blade on top worries me about cutting my ears.
Great video CDB! I actually saw this a few days ago, and was tempted to purchase it, but didn’t know how it performed, so I wanted to wait to see if someone would do a head shave with it that I trust, like yourself. I’ve been rocking the cue ball look for about 7 years now, and for me the Leaf has been the best blessing this far. I think I’ll pull the trigger and give this a shot. Thank you so much for this!👍🏻
The problem I have with Gillette and to some degree all safety razor manufactures is that I never know what blade cartridges will be compatible with which handles until I open the package. A few years ago, after some trial and error, I got frustrated and stood right there at the store's razor displays and opened a Gillette cartridge package to inspect them to see if they would be compatible with my Gillette handle.
I just recently started getting ads for this on Facebook but this is the only review I’ve seen for it so thanks for that. But I’m not convinced to drop $35 just for a stubby handled razor. I’m just gonna stick with my Philips One Blade, it cuts down to skin and I haven’t had any knicks or cuts on my head and it was just $40.
Hi Sir. I've used this a few times and it's ok. Essentially it's their skinguard razor with a stubby handle. It uses the exact same blades. It's not really special to be honest.
My issue with Cartridge razors is the disposal. Now, if people get a better shave of a Cartridge razor, why not... Gillette put a lot of money in R&D for comfort but I still believe Wet Shaving is better
I've shaved my head since I was 15, I turn 40 next month, I've shaved my head with everything from a razor sharp buck knife (don't recommend) to the Gillette Mach 3 I use now. I've yet to try Leaf though and it's on my to do list.
@IAMCDB have you ever tried a Venus razor with that soap cartridge attached? I stole one of my wife's disposables while getting ready to go on duty and along with just regular Barbasol it got me cue ball slick as well. Highly recommend if you're in a hurry
I have the same issue with the Barbasol brushless, that and it's hard to rinse, but it IS slick! BTW, how come it doesn't look like...oh, never mind...have a great weekend Chris, we're finally supposed to cool off down here!
Gillette texted me that only the Baldly skinguard blades fit not any retail skinguard blades. So must be ordered online only currently. But I used it first time today and great shave along with the cream.
I can tell you that’s 100% false on their part…. I used the baldly handle with a fusion pro glide cart last night. The skin guard blades in the store are identical.
I stick with my feather ASD 2 safety razor its just my go to although my first safety razor was their King C Gillette safety razor but I do have to say I do love the Gillette baldly Shave cream primer and you are right it is definitely slick razor will definitely glide so I will definitely stick with their baldly shave cream and I also use high time dare to be bald shave cream from the same people that make bump stopper.
The razor reminds me of a big deer tick with that handle. Looked like it worked well. I just splurged on a Gillette cart razor yesterday. I decided to buy a Bugatti heated razor. Being a car guy and wanting to experiment with the heated razor, I had to go for it. Hopefully it is fun to use. It is a bit pricey as well as the carts, but I may only use it during air travel.
@@IAMCDB they are skinguard blades this is just another gimmick advertising and marketing tool to generate sales but it's nothing new except for the handle with a skinguard cartridge attached to it that's all
@@IAMCDB yes Gillette has came out and said they are skin guard blades with a different handle but they are marketing this razor towards people who shave their head specifically just another way to try and generate sales
Hey Chris great video. Glad to see that Gillette is bringing something to the table for us bald guys, but at the end of the day, I will stick with my Leaf. But interesting razor nevertheless. Have a great day, and the rest of a wonderful weekend.
Eyyy Chris! Thanks for sharing this one. As much as I love my DE and SE razors for my head shaves, this one looks interesting. Who knows I may review it too? Have a great weekend my brother!!
Nice shave. I never got comfortable shaves with a cart but have with the Leaf and DE's. But never tried a cart with wet shaving soap so that might change the outcome for me but I prefer the DE world now. Have a blessed day
I just got one of these after using fusion pro glide. Looking online I do believe these are exactly the same as skinguard blades, which is good considering I don’t have to go back to Gillette ti get the cartridges …. I agree with the kit issue… I wanted just the blade, but it seems I could’ve just gotten the skinguard aside from the handle. It just got here, and when I use it tonight we’ll see how it goes.
@@IAMCDB surely will. I’m a recent bald shaver in the last few months after coming to terms with receding hair and alopecia…. I’ve just used standard Gillette fusion pro glide blades but this baldly caught my eye. I bought one of those skull shaver pit Bull gold electric wet dry shavers and am returning it today…. Nothing gets as close as a blade, period.
@@IAMCDB I definitely had to push down a bit harder/more in certain spots to get zero stubble (I make a pass with the grain then several against) but it did nicely! I have a lot of irritation on the back of my neck that I need to let heal for a few days before I shave again, but it pulls a lot less than the fusion pro glide blades. Baldy is a keeper!
I haven't even seen the last Gillette razor in Canada yet lol the eco friendly one. Baldy is a way better name than Baldly. Baldly feels like they're trying to get you to trip over your words lol
What’s a less aggressive blade for the leaf I have some astra blades I’m getting razor burn it hurts and weaps alittle bit I use captains choice cream I lather it pretty good I switched to my Harry’s razor it didn’t hurt at all I’m guessing it it the astra blades I’m thinking
It may not be a matter of aggression at all. It might be that Astra doesn't work well for you. You might want to experiment with a few different types of blades and see which work best.
So if Gillette does not recommend this Baldly razor for face-shaving, why should they let customers shave their faces with the Skinguard? Why somebody should try using this Baldly razor for a face shave and tell use how it goes!
Never shaved my head but I've been buzzing my head really short for 5 years now, and it's the best of both worlds...I don't have to do my hair, but I can go two weeks in between each buzz cut.
That is low maintenance for sure. Nothing feels like the bald though, it feels greet. Having a little hair is sometimes like velcro, things stick to it:)
Sorry for calling this razor Baldy folks. It's Baldly, not Baldy. Probably should be Baldy though:)

Yup but shaving bald with blade gives me bumps. :( With Braun Series 9 Pro no bumps and looks really good after.
