Love the features and the fact that there was even more to the upper parts of the lower body with the hips… and this one has much larger gloves and longer hands mean more posing. I think it’s now debatable (or not) if this one is now the ideal/definitive Vader. VC241 was incredible, so looks to be VC280.
If they release an episode 3 Vader I hope they retool the body. The reason being is Vader didn't get this buff until the Original Trilogy and Hayden's Vader is slimmer. We'd also need a modified head sculpt with a hayden likeness but give us a freshly burnt Anakin head.
Excellent figure! Ever since it was revealed I’ve been saying that to me the head sculpt looks like they were going for a morphed combination of Sebastian and Hayden and I still think that having seen him close up in your video. Thanks for the early review, very excited to get this one!
Great video, tim. Seb shaw had black eyebrows, and his head had a point, and moreover, he had aged after years in the dark. This figure doesnt look aged enough. As for the cape, the rogue one vader cape had lovely stitching on it. That head needs redoing 100%. It is simply not right. Vader in ROTJ is a weary old man.

Best burnt Vader headsculpt I've seen since the potf2 version from the 90s. This one is miles better than other vintage unmasked Vader's we've had I think, and easily better than the last Jedi Vader figure we had where the helmet was just way too wide for me, this figure nails it for me. Pity cape is a lesser quality than the previous one, but otherwise pretty great figure overall
I just got mine today at Target, he was the last one on the shelf. I told myself not to open the package but still the more I looked at him the more I wanna get him out of the package and so I did. Amazing details, incredible paint job on the head sculp and his whole helmet. I think $14.00 for a mini figure like this is a must buy ❤🎉

I remember having the legacy collection one when I was a teen. Then on with the stormtrooper card back. This figure brings many good memories of that figure
The one I got from Amazon 2 days ago is the same thing except he doesn't come with the hilt and the lightsaber, it's just all the accessories and the lightsaber, which the blade can be taken off and the hilt can be hooked on his belt.
My preorder arrived when I was out of the country (Canada) and I just picked it up. For the first time ever, I did buy a protector so I can keep one carded and in the best possible condition so, yes, I did pick two units. THAT cardback... and I don't consider myself a collector... THAT cardback is amazing! I've yet to open one of the units but there's one with better paint applications which I'll pick for my shelf to go along with ILC Luke. There were five left in total including my preorder and they had awful paint apps on the chest plate and belt. Yes, I notice those details and I'm glad the owner of the shop did keep one of the better ones. That Vader figure has already gone up in price which is ridiculous but not really at the same time.
Long awaited figure for the V.C. line. I have a Vader figure that has the exposed wires from his cut off hand. I think it was from the Saga Collection back in the earlier 2000's. This new one looks like the definitive Vader for sure.
I was planning on getting 2, one to open and one to keep carded. But after seeing your review I am probably getting 4 because I see so much custom potential with this figure, wow!! I plan on folding in the cape if mine is frayed. Excellent review as always! MTFBWY!

I only just discovered this came out a bit ago while browsing eBay today...it's really nice though I still think my VC115/lost line Vader still has a slight edge over it despite that one is scene specific...the cloak does kinder leave a bit to be desired..all my other Vader's had neat folded sewn edges around the whole cape which made it drape nicely also very slightly posable..it's very close to being a perfect figure but I can't quite put my finger on it..to me it just doesn't look as crisp to me as previous versions..maybe it's me I don't know..the head sculpt is brilliant and the 3 piece helmet is very good too in comparison to some others like vc08
I'm at 2:43 and the one on the right is the dark times Darth Vader. Could be wrong but to me it has to be since I own that figure and it it's the only Darth Vader figure I've owned since after the old school clone wars. It's kind of like a slightly duller black like he's had it for a while I like it. Interested in this and have my most anticipated Star Wars figure in this size and in general which is Starkiller!!
HA!! I was wrong like hell lol Guess that makes sense though The one on the right is more dull like I said so that should be the more modern older version of him and would make much much more sense. Also the buttons are more advanced like you mentioned. 👌🏽💯
RotJ is also the movie I enjoy the most and the first one I ever watched. The only nitpick I have about this figure is the name pill. To mirror the Mustafar Darth Vader from the first TVC run, this figure should be named Anakin Skywalker

I have an older version of this Vader from build the Droid, and I have another one of these two in his star wars tire. One didn't have his lightsaber or helmet and yes it looked like Hayden Christiansen, and another with his helmet and lightsaber. And then there's my first Darth Vader toy from when I was a kid in revenge of the sith line from the rebuild Darth Vader set. I'm not sure if I want to buy this one I've got so many Darth Vaders in my collection more than the other characters. Obi Wan and anakin and Vader were my original toys almost 15 to 16 yrs ago. So was grievous and some clones but I lost those guys. Then I got grievous back later on. Still have them. I don't think I need anymore Darth Vaders. I'm good as it stands.
The head was really my only gripe w this one. Not quite “egg shaped” enough to really nail the Shaw look. Otherwise another really great Vader, I like it a lot.
I have the Dark Times Darth Vader I found at Target. I wanna get this Return of the Jedi Darth Vader figure too. I have God knows how many Darth Vader figures I have. I have the Power of the Force basic (green & yellow card), Power of the Force with Comm-Tech chip, Episode II era (blue card) Bespin Duel, Episode VII era & The Vintage Collection Dark Times from Obi-Wan Kenobi. I feel like the Sebastian Shaw likeness makes more sense & they should've left the Anakin Force Ghost as Sebastian Shaw instead of using Hayden Christensen. To me, Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker's Force Ghost made absolutely 0 sense. Like some other changes in the middle/original trilogy, this was 1 that was not needed. Was there a Vintage Collection Return of the Jedi Luke Skywalker? I know there's a slightly older version of him from The Mandalorian & The Book of Boba Fett.

It's a shame that the eyebrows are removed. That would have been a nice "screw you" to george. It's also a shame that this head sculpt doesn't look like Sebastian Shaw. They did a better likeness of him back in the POTF2 Flashback line. It looks to me that hasblo was trying to lean to a likeness that resembles hayden more than Sebastian. That is unfortunate, but not a surprise.

It used to be you'd recoil back in horror at all his scars. Now with this figure it's because of the similarity to Hayden's likeness, intentional or not.
I prefer the 1998 version as the back of the neck piece has silver paint over the detailed bits as in the movie + I think the face is better too. I might get this but it's inferior to the earlier figure IMO.
This is a great looking figure, and makes me excited to see what they're going to do with the battle damaged Vader from the OBI WAN 2-pack. However, it irks me that they could put this much care and detail and tooling into this multi-piece mask, but they couldn't give the new Han barbell hips. Still, I wasn't gonna pick this figure up because it was too close to the awesome Dark Times Vader figure, but this review may have changed my mind.

It´s absolutely amazing, really, that we have THIS figure at THIS scale. Just think about it for a minute.
The definitive VC Darth Vader, in my opinion. It will be difficult for me not to buy every one I see out in the wild, to be honest.
I have both of them and I have to agree, they're nearly indistinguishable and they're the best versions of Vader ever made in this size figure.
If that Episode 6 Darth Vader figure was released as a 6 inch figure from Black Series, i swear i'd buy it right away
