    Without doubt the finest southern rock band ever. Never to be matched. Todays country bands who think they can jam & play have no idea what that means. This performance is just mesmerizing. May we all someday have a "Sweet Melissa" in our lives.

    It is amazing to me how many lives this band has touched. My daughter Jessica is named from their song. I listen to their music every day of my life and it never gets old to me. Looking at all the comments I can see I'm not alone. Thank God there are people in this world that still can appreciate what this group has brought to this world.

    The single greatest live acoustic performance I have ever seen - I saw this live on the Dennis Miller show many years ago and was just overwhelmed when I found it on RUclips so that I could enjoy it once more. The Allman Brothers were, quite simply, the best band of that generation (and in my opinion, the best ever). There were others louder, more theatrical, more explosive, but NONE more talented. Just listen and you will hear what I mean - simple brilliance.

    This performance stands alone in the pantheon of the finest acoustic performances in the history of rock and roll.
    If you don’t get goosebumps and chills watching this, you better check your pulse.
    Hats off and high fives to Dickey Betts and Warren Haynes for this HOF performance!
    It brings tears of joy to my eyes, not to mention pangs of guitar players’ jealousy.

      @cacornhusker2940 you're good. I'm probably a lot older than you and at the time hung out with ppl older than me so went to a lot of great concerts when I was young. I loved the Allman Brothers from the first time I heard them in the late 60s. Duane was my favorite, and when he died, I mourned for weeks. Back then (the 70s), you could get into concerts for just a few dollars. I recall seeing them twice at the Fillmore East and even saw them for free in NYC in Central Park in '71. It was just such a different time, and sadly, those days and those amazing bands are gone. Thankfully, we still have their music to enjoy. Take care and keep rockin'!

      @@CynVee Thank You Cyn, but i was 10 in '70 so, you're not that much older than me? My oldest brother is +9 years and sis is +7 years and they spun 45's during the 60's and then albums in the 70's so i was hooked on music at an early age. Great time and So many memories that are starting to fade. i was raised in a musical Family, we all played instruments, i did the cover band in the 80's during college and No lie, I busted out the Trusty Gibson Acoustic and played Melissa tonight, Wish I could sing. And yeah, I have to keep Rockin'....it's the only thing that keeps me young AND SANE when Depression abounds. God Bless to you and yours.

      @CynVee 3 месяца назад +1

      @@cacornhusker2940 God bless you too. My older brother turned me on to a lot of great music too. I used to sneak in his room and listen to his hifi. We don't play instruments but always loved music. Remember Sing Along with Mitch 😆 my nephew is a lead guitarist and played with a lot of bands in LA including at the Viper Club, etc. Don't let life get you down. There's still plenty of life left in our old bones 😎 All the best!

Haynes is best known for his work as longtime guitarist with The Allman Brothers Band and as founding member of the jam band Gov't Mule. Early in his career he was a guitarist for David Allan Coe and The Dickey Betts Band.

    ...when that arm comes reaching across all the time, feuds, miles so many years and greg takes that rather twisted but beautiful hand shake....I lost it. My girl had come out hearing mom play Allman Brothers ( waiting for me to play Blue Sky because I raised her telling her this was how she makes me feel) . She looked over and saw the tear sliding down my face and asked what's wrong. I told her it was a tear because sometimes beauty is too much to hold inside. Bless The Allman Brothers, they are proof that as long as we never give up on each other, understanding and forgiveness is possible. LOVE always finds a way.

    ohmygawd, the first time i saw this video i cried and cried. It so reminds me of the guys i ran around with when i was a teen in the '70's. Course they were older than I. Hippie good ol' boys who could play guitar, mandolin, and slide like no one's business. They could've walked up on this stage and fit right in with these guys. Geez I miss those days so much. I can't believe how sweet it was, how good we had it. Smoking pot and laughing in the back of an old pickup at a drive-in movie. In a row boat tied to Bob's dock, listening to Bob picking on a mandolin, on a warm summer night, a wash of stars sauntering across the night sky. Laughing as we all sang along with the Beatles, high on acid or mescaline out at their house, named the Pig Farm. Not the one in CA, but filled with incense, laughter, good friends and music nontheless. And young men. All with long hair, osh kosh overalls that hugged their backsides just so.. Umph! Sigh... yep, I'd give almost anything.
    Forgive my waxing nostalgic. Say, does anyone know if that is Betts and Trucks on the guitars? Damn that is some good playing.

    When this came out, it was called Rock. But today one can easily see Country influences. Despite being Rock, definitely more Country than 90% of the NuCountry of the 2010s which can only be heard on mp3 thru Smart Phones which is about as comfortable to listen to as putting ice needles thru yr ear thru to the other side. But this is beautiful.

      Paul Hoffmann - "ice needles," great stuff.
      Can I use that?

    Thankyou David. Very well said. I loved gregg's voice the first time I heard it and to have a chance to see him live was a blessing in it's own. I never imagined we would exchange words. I married my boyfriend that took me to see Gregg. He felt quite proud that evening. lol
