      Concerts this size always have delay speaker towers in the audience. The sound coming out of those speakers are delayed so that the sound coming from the front of house PA matches as it reaches the back of the audience, otherwise the sound would have an echo effect for the people at the back.

    This event was historical for the time. 1.6 Million people....and this is only 3rd on the all time list of crowds at an open air concert. #1 is Rod Stewart at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil with a crowd of 3.5 Million in 1994. #2 was Jean Michel Jarre in 1997 also in Russia, like that Metallica show, with 3.5 Million.

  • @MrMetallidude
    @MrMetallidude 4 года назад +1

    Actually there were 1.6 million people in the crowd that day (and most of them came just for Metallica). The Soviet Union was about to fall and the concert was held on a former military testing ground. Pantera, AC/DC and a local band, The Black Crowes, also played. One of the biggest concerts known to mankind. It was a celebration. 51 people died due to pressure, most likely. The military first didn’t know how to react to the crowd’s behavior, but as you can see, the stopped hitting and joined the crowd during Metallica’s set. A truly memorable, important and magical day.

    Without this song and the black album I don't know if I would have started my love affair with Metallica at the time I did. The two things that stand out to me about that album are 1) a comment I heard from Scott Ian/Antrhax about saying yes, Metallica sold out, they sold out every show after that album hit and 2) once you do their back catalog from this album you will notice how they changed in style but you can also tell someone actually did the hard work on getting James to sing better and producing their sound better.

If you want to analyze lyrics, their 2nd album, Queen of the Murder Scene, is a concept album which tells the story of a disturbed young woman's inner journey from desire to obsession to murder to self-loathing to suicide. The songs are told from the point of view of either the young lady's inner psychopath or her good side, which has a conscience - until it does not.
