Many such challenges require the use of bulkier units, usually because they are needed to survive them. Armor Knights always have high defense, which isn't really necessary in a regular playthrough, but in challenge runs, they become invaluable.

What makes armors good in challenges is usually their high defense at base level, but here the guaranteed hits with triangle attacks were what really made them good in the middle and late game.
I like how you could have made the much more reasonable choice to just max out their luck at the vanilla 30, but that wouldn't involve grinding every unit to level 20 on the first map so you did that instead. This is truly peak Fire Emblem

But with archers using bows, why don't misses use durability? I used to imagine bows' durabilities representing the number of arrows they have (45 for iron bow, etc), but I guess they have infinite ammo. Maybe the archers hit their enemies with the bows until they break?
Imagine any other stat at 99 and tell me it would be an easier game. The only worse stat for that is res because it do jothing againist most of yoir characters, but even 99 skill would probably be impossible or require massive RNG manipulation.
@@noukan4299 Skill 198 Hit, and +49 Crit Chance. Anything that can touch you will probably kill you (it actually would make archers relevant, because they can attack from afar). Skill and Luck really are familiar actually, because it really badly hurts units if it's too low. Knoll or Gonzales are great examples. (Rutger gets away with low Luck by having perfect Speed and Skill, but most units appreciate the extra oomph it brings to the table)

@shytendeakatamanoir9740 ik. I'm just saying, Rutger being as good as he is is due to Hard Mode, since he gets increases to his base stats as an enemy, and those increases carry over when you recruit him. Therefore, it makes sense in my eyes that Rutger would have 99 Luck as well.

I think the weapon degradation on miss is only for magic, it doesn't apply to bows or javelins or hand axes. But it does apply to magic weapons like runesword.
11 hours on the first stage... loses.. and then just nonchalantly re-does most of it, 'slightly tilted' when I'd expect most people to just give up. I've done some ridiculous challenges in the past and lost a few hours here and there, but I don't think I've had one of this magnitude - my hats off to you for pushing through that Now back to actually watching the rest of the video, this is going to be neat

And HP would also be just more like vanilla, but longer, although you might just run out of weapon uses at the beginning. So skill, then? It would be pretty rough, possibly worse, since enemies would have at least 50 crit, and always hit you. I was gonna suggest speed, but then I remembered that being doubled isn't the problem, it's the 198+ avoid.
No, being doubled would be bad too. I think Skill would be the most interesting, since it forces a very, very offensive playstyle to avoid ever getting hit

This is by far the most ludicrous challenge I've ever seen someone do in a game. The strength of will to grind for two working days only for Roy to die and to then start over is unbelievable. Absolutely incredible stuff!

I'm fairly new to the fire emblem series, only having played 2 games, but I've never even heard of a triangle attack before. Wonder if there's a bunch of other mechanics that I just have no idea about.
this seems like a run in FE1 where you try to get clerics to max level, since they only level by surviving battle, leveling up by breaking enemy weapons with their face. It's also funny that the armor knights and pegasus knights would end up being some of the most reliable units because of triangle attack bypassing accuracy i saw some units that you didn't recruit like shin and sue, but didn't see them in the death pool like gonzalez and geese were. Did you not count them as killed?
Next time someone tells you luck is a useless stat in FE, just show them this After all, as a certain merc once said: "Hey, luck is at least half skill!"
Its a shame reclassing has taken out the triangle attack mechanic :( Should being it back. You can still make it weapon specific as seen with Tellius bow triangle attack requiring you to get bows on Oscar which you could miss out on.
