@@chaossnowkitsune6377 I've given up trying to use Gilliam. He can't keep up with Seth and Franz in movement, he can't deal with all the axe users in chapters 2 and 3, and he's not nearly as tanky as I'd like him to be.
My Lute was so weird on my first playthrough. She ended up with 14 def before promotion. That means that she leveled a 20% growth 12 times in ~18 levels. She was somehow one of my frontline tanks together with Seth and kyle for the majority of my run.
@@garrettwidner6915 I don't think so. It has been a while so i don't quite remember, but i was doing an ironman so i wanted to limit grinding as much as possible.
As a Lute Enjoyer, it pleases me greatly to see your Solo Lute Run, it was simply epic even when you had to re-start the whole thing and seeing her perform the best out of any character you've tried so far it pretty amazing, she really is superior after all. I hope you keep going with this amazing series.
True. Sadly, I'm restricted in my current run; it's a max cavalry run, so anyone who has the option to get/keep a mount on promotion, has to go the mounted option, and first priority for promotion items goes to making new mounted units. So no Sage Lute :\ At least my next run is minimum cavalry 😅
@@TheRealMycanthrope That reminds me of my last run, where I ended up with like 7 mounted units in my main squad. I called it "mounted mania". Sadly, because it was an ironman, in the end only 4 of them survived.
I understand the weapon durability being part of the challenge, but I think the unit doing the map by themself is more important to the challenge, so I think you should just give characters like this an extra of whatever weapon they start with I also think you should give healers a light tome so we can see them do this challenge too
Nice video, I still remember my first playthrough using Ross and Lute as a frontal monstrosity. Ross becoming a berserker to make traversing easier while carrying Lute if needed. While Lute becomes a sage for healing stave and primal magical damage. Having the support bonuses help a lot at becoming untouchables.
I have another suggestion: Soloing FE8 with a unit from FE7 or FE6. Could make it more interesting to see how these units operate outside of their own games. Like, maybe you could do a solo run with Hector or Lyn or maybe even Roy if you really want a challenge. Just a thought since you’re already replacing Erika and porting units between games is pretty easy.
@@kratosmvn_ They're super engaging and making me want to pick back up my old fe8 challenges myself aha! I second a commenter's request for an all trainee run, though personally I'd like to see a Knoll solo (despite what everyone says he's always given me great growths in my many many runs... I ♥ Necromancy)
Great video! The Reset counter could be valued by why you had to do the reset. Let's say you had to reset Vanessa only twice, and it was because something you could have did better. But you had to reset Knoll 6 times because of bad stat rng. Not only did Knoll have to be reset more it was for a much worse reason and would be out of your control. So Resets are based on why and how many was done. Maybe two different types of resets, rng based and personal fluke based. RNG weighs heavier than the later. either way, I'm looking forward to more of these, love your narration!
Thank you! First off, I love that you used Knoll for your example in the bad RNG... because we all know that exact scenario will happen haha. In all seriousness, you're right that surrounding it by context may be the best way to add that.
@@kratosmvn_ No problem! I'm sure you'll think up a good system for it. The Knoll video, (probably the last one for your sanity I'm guessing) will be glorious I'm sure! I'm just waiting for my girl Amelia, or Ephraim just to get a good comparison to Erika. Either way, loving the content! Been some fun videos to watch when I get home from work.
@@xShadowbane451 Well thank you! I'm glad you've been enjoying the videos. I'm very excited to test out Ephraim too, should make for an interesting run!
I think you did a great job explaining why you’re ranking things the way you are. I’m like the ranking in that way! Can’t wait to see the Gerik run when you eventually get there!
Instead of a death or reset counter, what about a Difficulty rating? How troublesome the character was to work with. Lute did really well but she was super fiddly. The total reset is debatable, since you could potentially consider that "user error" rather than character difficulty, but there's no denying that the early chapters will cause havoc for all players, and that definitely raises the bar on usability. She may be faster when you finally get her working, but she's the Hare of the old story. Some might prefer the Tortoise, a character who wins slower on paper, but who is consistently safe and easy to use the whole way. I think that adds a useful point of information for viewers, and you could even potentially split into two charts, one for speed of completion and one for ease of completion. It's probably way easier than trying to "weight" speed and difficulty against each other to try forming one wonky chart.
Hm I was going to remark on the choice between Mage Knight and Sage Because on one hand, I really like Lute as a Sage Ever since I've first known about Limstella, I've had an admiration for Female Sages in GBA FE games, as they're the only magic unit who can reach 30 stat cap on Mag, the highest anyone can get, so when I knew that Lute was the only possible female sage, my choice was set in stone Then there was Mage Knight, which now that I'm older, I can see more of the benefits Movement is generally considered to be the best stat (depending on if you consider it as a stat or not considering it doesn't increase by level up) because it gives you a lot of options, whether offensive or defensive Then there's speed, which is the next best stat to that, because same as Mov, works both offensive and defensive, with being the source of doubling, and evasion, and Con is sort of connected to that stat But then I saw the last part of the vid and so nvm, Sage Lute can still double so it's a moot point
Loved the idea of using the extra Units to tank the hits to evade extra uses of weapons because the limitations, you did a great job with that "new" strat. 👍
@@kratosmvn_ well, I prefer this option against the other one. I will always like the inventative way than a "fixing" one, you know... here at Argentina we have a word for that kind of stuff mentioned as "picardia" something like "cunning" but at the end is something that exist deep within the games, the idea of being limited in some way and achive what you need within that limitations, maybe that is why I really love your videos of Fire Emblem. And about the topic of resets/yes/no that didn't really matter because it won't show any real relevant information cause as you said in the video, most of those resets from zero are related to something you miss which didn't put value on the characters or their RNG nature, if the reset is related to a bad RNG for level up stats it's okey, but otherwise is just... not about the characters or bad luck, is a missplay from your part... that is why the map resets have much more value and information to compare characters, even with that still RNG will be a huge important part of the character resets per map. I can understand that put map resets will require a lot of time so don't bother. At the end what you does is outstanding and took so much time to bother with that kind of nonsense. I really enjoy how you comment the game as you were a football commentor/soccer commentor. Hahahaha that is so funny and hilarious to heard.
Haha I was considering Ivaldi too, mostly for the defense. I like to think I would've checked/calc'd the final boss doubling. When you hyped up that it was finally over so much I almost felt like you were setting up a big twist. I saw it was 93 to hit and was like "...wait does she miss here?" Good for the prodigy she pulled it off.
Yeah, not checking stats ahead of time was my major mistake. I just sometimes assume I know this game well enough and get surprised by little details that never come up when doing regular runs!
Hey dude! Wanted to say, I love your content, and I have started solo running myself because of it. I have already completed a Céline, Dorothea, and Robin solo, and am in middle of an Alear and Chloé maddening one. Thanks for the great content
This showed up in my feed and I wasn't sure if I wanted to watch it. But eventually after like 5 days I was like "OK let's check it out" 10/10, I loved it. I'll surely watch all your future ones
Loving this playthroughs :D For the reset counter, if they are a thing when coming to Late Game, I believe there should be at least a second playthrough on all character, one for the first feelings, and a second with more knowledge about what works. This Lute-s one you can really tell about the optimization process by the experience of the first shot haha
Yeah, I see what you mean, but unless I have to, I'd like to not have to do these runs multiple times. As fun as they are, it would be quite tedious to do each run twice.
This was cool and I loved the reset as it gave us a more informed us on how a more informed playthrough also the Tomb Strats I didn't see coming I thought you'd be forced to giver her another so that was realy impressive Gilliam must have his Vengeance (I also feel bad for ya it'll be slow)
#LUTESWEEP!! awesome video, glad to see lute shine! i’m sure someone’s already mentioned this, but i think resets should be counted differently depending on whether they were done because of error in planning or because of level rng that wasn’t good enough. personal error resets don’t really reflect badly on the character as much as they just show how much forethought is needed to get the most out of them. a character with ten planning error resets is still leagues better than a character with five rng resets, i think. anyways, love your videos! can’t wait for the eventual l’arachel sweep where she bonks enemies with her staves until promotion
Thank you so much for the kind words! Can't wait to try something insane with L'arachel lmao. Awesome feedback, you make great points, I'll keep in mind to see if I decide to add the reset counter.
How about an early game unit tag team? Neimi and Natasha? It could be a fun way to make up for healers having no attack to pair them with someone similarly hard to use early. I think it might be a neat change of pace from solo challenge runs.
I say no to the seset counte, because when units have multiple weapon types and use choose the "wrong" Sacred weapon, it's not truly a reflection on the unit. And that'll probably become prevalent when you use start using cavalry, or a general that can use all three weapon classes.
I remember playing through SS the first time and my Lute always got +1 on EVERYTHING EVERYTIME so she was my best unit in the game. I just thought this was the coding because of her title. Nope, she just got lucky every time. My friends didn't complain because she paved the way for my love of other units in future games.
Not sure if someone has said this already, but the reason you didn't S rank Anima before your promotion is because you can't S rank any weapon proficiency until you promote. It will stop at A rank. If I remember correctly the trainee units weapon proficiency stops at C rank before you promote them for the first tjme.
I can totally see some people not noticing as most people probably don't look at the weapon proficiency screen often. I only really noticed it because I used Erika and Ephraim a lot in my many playthroughs over the years and noticed that the bar that fills up to signify weapon experience didn't fill for them after they reached A rank. Though when they promote they get a bit of weapon experience. I kinda like that they do this as it shows the unpromoted characters can't their full potential until promotion.
Oh! Just to make sure you know this, but there is another thing to take note of in this game! Certain classes have different stat caps depending on their gender. For instance Lute's max magic stat is thirty as a Sage while the guys have 28. There are a good number of other instances of this. Usual only a point or two difference, but as we saw here That can make all the difference
Probably one of the most worrying ones in my eyes is Amelia as a Paladin. Her max strength stat in that class is 23 instead of 25 like the guys. Though... considering she will most likely be using the S rank Lance which raises strength by five I believe it might not be too bad. On an unrelated note: I still stand by what I said on the Ross video and say Colm might straight up be impossible due to the chapter 1 boss. Unless Seth's steal sword can give him the damage output needed.
@@chaossnowkitsune6377 S rank lance vidofnir gives +5 defense, not +5 strength. It's Eirika and Ephraim's legend weapons that give +5 strength. And for amelia run he may actually want to run her as either general or great knight so she can S rank axes to use garm for its +5 speed
Lowest con in the game is actually a perk for mounted units. They can rescue the heaviest units in the game which is useful. I don't give body rings to anyone who has a mount as a result.
These types of runs are so much fun! I'm really enjoying these. As a side note, at one point, I started a Summons only run, where the idea is that I try to get to Ewan and Knoll and promote them to Summoner asap and then only use the summons for the rest of the game. Obviously, this would probably be impossible in a normal run, so it'll be heavily RNG manipulated, which I think is fine in this context. I've been wondering for a while whether I should hack in Ewan as Eirika and train him up or just slug it out using everyone and get to Ch12 asap. In the end, I'm guessing the first option is the best, because then you can start training Ewan up right away and get to Summoner and start the actual 'challenge'. It's a little sad though, because I've routed the game all the way up to Ch9 of Ephraim route (and well, with Ewan as Eirika, no Ephraim route for you).
@@kratosmvn_ That sounds like a good idea! I downloaded FE Builder and honestly, I can't seem to figure it out properly. I managed to get Eirika as Ewan, with the items he starts out with, but I couldn't fix his exp gain. How would I fix that. Or alternatively, should I use a different tool to hack Ewan in?
Include a reset counter because it's fun but don't have it affect the ranking - the more you play consistently, the lower those resets will be which will skew the results.
I think the addition of a reset counter would be interesting but not entirely necessary, I don't think it would influence much in the overall ranking?? But that's just my take... this was a great video I really am loving your FE8 solo runs ❤️❤️ you have to do Knoll next seeing just how good Lute was haha
Thank you for the feedback! I'm glad you're enjoying the videos. Despite my dread when it comes to Knoll, I'm still intrigued at how well he'll do in the end.
Future runs I am really looking forward to are as follows: Dozla: Mostly because I think he is just a bad character. His stats are pretty bad. Sure he will probably do pretty well in the early game... provided he can make it through to chapter two without breaking his starting weapon. Arthur: Because Bishop is broken late game so should be fun. Gerik: he's got pretty good stats, starts with a hero crest and can become a hero. So should be interesting. One final one would be Myrrh. Though considering it is literally impossible to do this with just her 50 uses of her Dragon stone maybe give her access to some of the monster "weapons" as she can use them if you use a glitch to give them to her. Or alternatively just give yourself a bunch of Dragon stones and see how many break before you beat the game.
Those are all very interesting runs! I'd love to try them all out for sure. In the case of Myrrh, I'm still working out the how I'll approach that one lmao.
Understandable for Myrrh. Would be best to make sure you have something that will work. That ... And randomly I was just hit with a rather amusing idea. Not sure if you would be able to do this, but a run as the Demon King would be amusing. "How fast can the Demon King destroy his imposter!?" Or something like that.
I’d likely find a reset counter interesting. Even if certain resets may be do to mistakes, the fact that a run can be killed in however many ways is notable to the difficulty of a character. It might also give more context to the time on the scores. A run that has to reset has the advantage of having its routing refined in a way that a first try wouldn’t. So it would be interesting to see, for instance, if there were two runs close to fastest if one might have been significantly more difficult to figure out.
I don't think a reset counter is too relevant, unless it's down to bad level ups alone. It seems to me that the strength of a character within the context of a solo run shouldn't be tied to how long it takes to find the correct strategy for them. Lute shouldn't be "penalized" because you tried an Ivaldi route (although I also liked the idea of an Ivaldi route on its face), and it didn't work out. Each character should be evaluated based on how well they complete the run *with their optimal strategy in place* (for some loose definition of "optimal").
True, I think it may be nice to track, but maybe not give them any value as to the ranking since you're right that if it comes down to mistakes it's not 'fair' to the character. I had so much faith in the Ivaldi strat haha, turns out I was wrong.
@@kratosmvn_ It's so easy to overlook something in a full-game playthrough too! I'm a big fan of a Pokemon solo challenge runner (shoutout to Jrose11), and despite him having done dozens of them, he still has to restart and reapproach certain sections of the game for each Pokemon. Each solo run is going to be different, and that's what makes them fun! But it also makes these one-shot style challenges tricky to plan for, so it doesn't make much sense to evaluate based on those external factors. Can always still use them as a tie-breaker if you feel like two are close anyways!
You should really try cycling your save slots. Normally I save to the next slot down (going back to the first when I hit the third) every time to avoid stuff like losing the Guiding Ring, but this shows it might also be a good idea to alternate between two save slots and keep a third where you haven't gotten an S rank for characters with multiple weapon types like this.
Something that might be helpful for fliers is that in chapter nine if you rescue all the villages you get another Angelic robe. Though nobody other the the four fliers(Six of you count the Glen and Valter) in the game will be able to make use of this as I think it is literally impossible to make it to both in time otherwise.
Weirdly Lute is a character that I never really used in my SS playthroughs. Not sure why, maybe her personality just doesn’t jive with me 😅 She definitely seems like a beast from this run!
Lute in this walkthrough: Lute, or Lutaya (Fierce from Russian), sharp as a sickle blow to the balls, and hard as a hammer blow. A living Renei coat of arms. They say it's impossible to kill this bastard at all
Honestly I don't think a reset counter would work too well because ultimately a lot of the time a reset is caused by user error rather than the unit itself.
@@AnAverageGoblin If you don't realize that Sacred Stones is FULL of homages from other fantasy style games, and is a lot different in story compared to its predecessors and done intentionally, then I don't know what to tell you friend.
@@ThatGuyThai You still haven't told me how having an axe and a son is a direct reference to DQIII other than being a passing similarity. but keep being a snob about your imagination instead of actually elaborating. people like you ruined Fire Emblem.
Why would you cheese strat and use other units as tanks instead of just adding fire tombs to the armory or an extra in Seth's inventory? I mean Lute is already hacked to be the main character, idk why an extra fire tomb is out of the question.
It's not out of the question, I was trying to stay as close as possible to 'What if you start the game with Lute'... A lot of people did suggest adding a tome and such, and others seem to prefer what I did. I'm gonna take in all the feedback and see what I end up settling on for future run where this is an issue. If anything it would have just made Lute's run quicker.
Lute is one of my favourite characters. When it comes to promoting her, it usually boils down to where I am in the game. Am I promoting her before the sand map? If yes she’s a sage. The mobility on that map on the harder difficulties is too much to pass up. If I’m promoting her after that level, mage knight since it’s usually better otherwise due to movement. Though I tend to make Amelia a general because I find that funny.
I love Knoll but all the slander is absolutely deserved He's as durable as a wet paper tissue, I've seen him die too many times to low percent crits that I just don't expect much else from him
Given how much guff people give Amelia, it really does show that it's a very easy time to play with her. Or is it more just that Lute's just so fragile by even magic user standards? Good backlog of videos to go through. Reminds me of my old friends and I how we'd focus so drastically different in team dynamics and who to invest in.
I soloed hard mode (not that that's a huge accomplishment in Sacred Stones) with Lute way back in the day without much trouble. Admittedly I didn't have a ROM hack so the run started when you get her instead.
If I've come to understand the general feel and intent with these solo runs being somewhat akin to "Which Gen I Pokemon can beat the game the fastest?"... It will obviously require coding and purchasing liberties and interpretations to allow for it, but I am highly confident that L'Arachel might actually perform better than most, if not all, given the opportunity to show up early and allowed to wield whichever sort of tome you plan on promoting her class specialty offense magic to. She's got strong growths in general, with her weak points being the exact same as Lute's, EXCEPT her base stats and mobility are more respectable along with a higher starting Con, healers taking actual part in combat attain more EXP than average even in Hard mode, and if you are ever so inclined then use of Torches in Fog stages means easy Exp for herself so that turns don't go to waste. Also, her promotion gives her even more mobility, and a decent boost to her defenses whether you go for Valkyrie or Mage Knight; I would argue the latter as the stronger of the two overall (aside from dealing with the higher aim of Stone-wielding Gorgons anyway), with promoted Con being high enough to let her use the respectably powerful and light crit enhancing Thunder without being slowed at all, and a decently high chance of maxing out her offensive stats and Res. As for "purchasing interpretation", what I mean by that is that whenever your weapon of choice gets broken in the early game before a stage would normally allow for restocking, buy the most expensive piece of equipment in a store and convert that into a basic tome, without changing the number of remaining uses for good measure so that your expenses are more readily tested before the game runs its usual course. If you're gonna tweak fate by having characters take a starting and leading role than they ever would otherwise, there's no reason to make it such a hassle on yourself when the base game _intends_ for your available units to almost readily get some of what they need as the story goes. ... If the fact healers getting a boost of exp makes this challenge unsuitable to what you're looking for out of such runs, or you feel like they would be their own category altogether, then my next best suggestion goes to... Cormag(depending on which route kind of Cormag). If only because I think it'll be interesting to pit a higher leveled flying lancer against the horde of early game axe users as something that might balance out his more robust stats, hoping the mid to late game grants him substantial endurance, reach, and perhaps weapon triangle management if you go for Wyvern Lord over Wyvern Knight.
Thank you for the feedback. I think you justify quite well a few things I'll have to do when it comes to using stave users and other mages for that matter. I'm excited to try out L'arachel and Cormag for that matter too.
@@kratosmvn_ You're welcome. Used to have the game shortly after it came out, and have played it coded in more present times just for fun, so I'd like to think I'm fairly familiar with the base cheese and exploits present as is. And in the case of the very early game lack of availability for Tomes, maybe converting Seth's Silver Lance, as well as Slim and Steel weapons, is right around the ballpark of their starting/remaining use in terms of matching up with the higher pricing of even basic Tomes compared to them.
okay so if u are planning to do a solo run in heroes as I said, 3 dancers and one of your favorite unit of your choice. lets say u like caeda? u go for red orbs. if u want like cordeilla a lance flier unit u go for blue. if u want nohr maid felecia, u go for colorless white orbs, and if u want like cherche an axe flier unit, go for green orbs. but anyways I go more tips when I see u upload fire emblem heroes then I know u have some interest
Lute is insane in this game. Has to be a top 5 character of all time for me. A shame that Saleh is literally so good when he shows up either route almost no reason to use Lute when you can start a varied army.
@@kratosmvn_ shows up with stats that are arguably going to be better than anyone in your group at the time and has A anima and C staves I believe. Right before or on chapter 15 too which I would argue is one of the more difficult chapters in most FE games. Honestly, between Seth, promoted Ephraim, Gerick, cormag, and Saleh are why this game is so easy. Those characters would trivialize any FE game tbh.
I would say the reset counters could be added just as a nice quick visualization of which characters are easier/more consistent than others. Like yeah an optimal lute was faster than other characters but that doesn't mean she's easier to run.
The luck that is required with just the basic tome is actually insane without doing the shenanigans I did. A few people have proposed adding an extra tome.
"Tellius Games, Awakening, Shadow Dragons, Echoes, Three Houses and Engage" so about those games and if u play fire emblem heroes? Hello Kratos, I know this video is a little old but I have a challenge for you. Would it be possible to beat the game by only using iron weapons? Thanks you for your content, I've always loved Fire Emblem and your videos remind of my childhood. Keep doing good!
For runs like Lute, Artur, Knoll, and other magic users and other users of rare/later game weapon types-I say you just allow yourself to have extra base level equipment 'early' at the prep screen armory prices, which are already a ripoff. Maybe throw away the silver lance seth starts with so you can't sell it to buy more gear for your soloing unit? The stuff you did with lute and shuffling around Seth and rushing to seize the gates/thrones is interesting, but will almost certainly just get really obnoxious to do repeatedly, especially with weaker units or ones that can't counter at range 1, like Neimi or innes, and I think it's more interesting to see the units you are soloing with actually take out most/all of the enemies on the maps. Also-having to use Seth for tanking/rescuing and escorting Lute to the bosses to rush the thrones/gates sort of goes against the spirit of the solo run since it's really supposed to be unit vs the world, not unit+guard/chauffeur Seth vs the world for the first few maps, as well as using other units as decoys to lure away other enemies like with gilliam in chapter 3 'We use the solo unit in place of Eirika, so we always use eirika's route as well to keep the solo unit.' It's gonna be interesting to see you do an Ephraim solo run lol Mage knight lute-honestly I've always gone sage lute, seems much better to me, and lute actually wants the high magic cap because she's definitely going to either hit it or get close. Also using the convoy glitch to give Lute stone so she can use all types of magic which is always fun light rank S for sage lute-ehhh, I don't agree here. Light might help against the gorgons and other dark magic monsters, and lyon to an extent, but it's a lot heavier than anima tomes, especially the higher tier tomes, and they all have less uses and might for their weapons vs equal level anima tomes. The +5 crit from S rank and +5 crit with thunder tome would make getting crits against most regular enemies and monsters more likely, which I think is the bigger deal for solo runs since you have to have your single unit solo every single enemy they have to face, so having a good chance to crit and one shot an enemy to save time, weapon uses, and reduce chance of getting hit with a counter attack. I know light tomes also have slightly boosted crit rates, but the low constitution lute has makes her take a larger speed penalty from using light tomes, especially the higher tier ones that are much heavier forgetting metis tome-not that big of a deal really, she does have some extra levels to grow with boosted growth rates, but I don't think it would have made too big of a difference in the end. The final map and first attempt rushing to attack fomortiis-why didn't you heal? It's a different map/chapter (or at least I count it as a different map/chapter since the map does change and it's clearly a sequence of 2 maps for the final section of the game, not a single map), so the '1 healing item per map' self rule you have would still have allowed you to grab another elixir to heal up. Later-yep, called it that excalibur would have been a better choice for the doubling factor, as well as the better damage. Also-it's actually a difference of 2 damage because of the x2 sacred weapon might to monsters/demon king. But big, big oof of having to restart the run at the end because of using S light rather than S anima. At least Lute v2 was much better in stats than v1, aside from HP. Good job with being more tactical on the final map by doing stuff like going outside of the dracozombie range to prevent it from attacking you as well for future runs-units that don't/can't reach 22-23 speed are going to have an *really* rough time against fomortiis because of not being able to double him. Axes units and anima mages will have a much easier time reaching that speed because of Garm and Excalibur both boosting speed by 5, so for units that have class sets that can use Axes or Anima magic, that may be a factor worth considering of getting them to S Axe/anima to use Garm/Excailbur vs the demon king and other late game monsters. Reset counter could be interesting to see, but not necessarily needed. Could also be demoralizing to you to see how high it gets for some units, especially on the last maps
Thank you for the comment, very insightful stuff. I'll keep the idea of giving an extra tome in mind for future runs. Yeah, any unit that won't be able to get that 23 speed consistently will have a tough time against the final boss for sure.
I think, in honor of Gilliam being the first noted sacrifice of the run, that he should be your next solo run.
Gilliam is the man
Honestly, I kind of have to... you may be unto something there. 🤔
Oh Gilliam the character I always say I am going to use, but then bench as soon as I get Amelia or Dussel.

True. Sadly, I'm restricted in my current run; it's a max cavalry run, so anyone who has the option to get/keep a mount on promotion, has to go the mounted option, and first priority for promotion items goes to making new mounted units. So no Sage Lute :\
At least my next run is minimum cavalry 😅
@@TheRealMycanthrope
That reminds me of my last run, where I ended up with like 7 mounted units in my main squad. I called it "mounted mania". Sadly, because it was an ironman, in the end only 4 of them survived.
I understand the weapon durability being part of the challenge, but I think the unit doing the map by themself is more important to the challenge, so I think you should just give characters like this an extra of whatever weapon they start with
I also think you should give healers a light tome so we can see them do this challenge too
Yeah, I understand where you're coming from! I'll definitely keep it in mind for future runs!
Agree. Its not very interesting to see them struggle because of weapon use.
@@AvelineMelena Thanks for the input :)
Or Healers start with Stone Magic and a Flux tomb and learn Dark magic before being able to attack =P
@@kratosmvn_ personally I disagree having to play around weapon usage only invites more strategic and fun gameplay
It was absolute pain watching the final boss fight. Gotta appreciate your dedication, my man.
Yeah, it was a CHALLENGE for sure, but glad of the result. Thank you very much. :)
Thank you, yeah having them together supporting each other is such a devastating duo, it's not even funny!
I live for the Knoll slander 😂😂😂 I love him even if he's the butt of all the jokes! I love these runs and I can't wait til the next one!
Glad you enjoy my Knoll slander and the runs haha 😂
One day, Knoll will see his dream come true and finally die in every way imaginable
That's a very good idea! I'll keep this idea in mind for sure because I think you're onto something really fun there, thank you :)
My go-to promotion for Lute is sage because her sprite looks better
Right!!! I never realized how good her Sage sprite looked!
When you finally took out Fomortiis I started cheering like when they score a goal in soccer
Haha nice! I'm very happy you were invested in the video! 😊
@@kratosmvn_ They're super engaging and making me want to pick back up my old fe8 challenges myself aha! I ♥ Necromancy)
I friggin love your videos my guy. Please don't stop them coming. I started playing Fire Emblem because of you playing my very first game !!
Oh my god! I'm so happy the videos could have this kind of impact, enjoy it my friend! 😊
Thank you for the feedback! :D
I'm also quite stocked for Gerik as he is one of my favourites.
Of course you can, we're talking about superior skills here.
Lute is SUPERIOR after all!
That's an amazing idea. You bring up some great points, I'll definitely consider your input. Thank you 😊
Hm
I was going to remark on the choice between Mage Knight and Sage
Because on one hand, I really like Lute as a Sage
Ever since I've first known about Limstella, I've had an admiration for Female Sages in GBA FE games, as they're the only magic unit who can reach 30 stat cap on Mag, the highest anyone can get, so when I knew that Lute was the only possible female sage, my choice was set in stone
Then there was Mage Knight, which now that I'm older, I can see more of the benefits
Movement is generally considered to be the best stat (depending on if you consider it as a stat or not considering it doesn't increase by level up) because it gives you a lot of options, whether offensive or defensive
Then there's speed, which is the next best stat to that, because same as Mov, works both offensive and defensive, with being the source of doubling, and evasion, and Con is sort of connected to that stat
But then I saw the last part of the vid and so nvm, Sage Lute can still double so it's a moot point
Loved the idea of using the extra Units to tank the hits to evade extra uses of weapons because the limitations, you did a great job with that "new" strat. 👍
I know not everyone enjoyed this approach to it, but I'm glad you did :)
@BSO I really appreciate you saying that! Hopefully, the videos can't keep living up to your comment 😄
I am playing FE8 rn on Normal tho for the first time and Lute is in my team and damn boi that genius slaps.
Truly a GOAT in all my playthroughs!
Yooooo, thank you so much, that means a lot to me! I'm glad you're enjoying it and also enjoying solo running. :D

Great video! I know she isn’t that good but Marisa is one of my favorite FE characters. Would love to see you try this with her.
Thank you! I'm a huge Marisa fan, so I can't wait to get to her.
This was cool and I loved the reset as it gave us a more informed us on how a more informed playthrough also the Tomb Strats I didn't see coming I thought you'd be forced to giver her another so that was realy impressive
Gilliam must have his Vengeance (I also feel bad for ya it'll be slow)
I agree it was nice to get this additional level of context for this run specifically! Gilliam seems to be a popular next choice.
You should definitely do a Ewan only run
Ewan is on my list for sure, I'd be intrigued to see if he could outpace Lute.
@@kratosmvn_ I feel like he has the potential to
@@destroyt294 Oh yeah for sure!
Great video! I really like this series. Lute is my favorite Fire Emblem character, so this one was peak :)
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the video :D
How about an early game unit tag team? Neimi and Natasha? It could be a fun way to make up for healers having no attack to pair them with someone similarly hard to use early. I think it might be a neat change of pace from solo challenge runs.
That's a pretty neat idea. Thanks for the heads up.
I think the current format (turn/time) is good as is! Trying to account for deaths/resets seems like a lot of work for not a lot of payout.
Thanks for the feedback! It's duly noted :)
I say no to the seset counte, because when units have multiple weapon types and use choose the "wrong" Sacred weapon, it's not truly a reflection on the unit. And that'll probably become prevalent when you use start using cavalry, or a general that can use all three weapon classes.
That is very fair! Thank you for the feedback.
I remember playing through SS the first time and my Lute always got +1 on EVERYTHING EVERYTIME so she was my best unit in the game. I just thought this was the coding because of her title. Nope, she just got lucky every time. My friends didn't complain because she paved the way for my love of other units in future games.
She can be quite the menace and when it happens she does some good work.
"I'm afraid I can't let you threaten my natural superiority." - Lute
😂😂😂
Not sure if someone has said this already, but the reason you didn't S rank Anima before your promotion is because you can't S rank any weapon proficiency until you promote. It will stop at A rank.
If I remember correctly the trainee units weapon proficiency stops at C rank before you promote them for the first tjme.
No one said anything, but thank you for the info. I had NO idea, I'll have to keep that in mind for future runs!
@@chaossnowkitsune6377 it's great that it does happen. I'll keep an eye on that for future runs.
Love your channel, dude. Maybe a Neimi solo run could be cool.
Keep it up! Liked. 💸 💰
Thank you very much
Thanks for the heads up! I had read about that somewhere before, but I had forgotten until now.
Gilliam: *dies*
Knoll: first time?
Seth Solo Run will just be a RUclips Short
I lowkey wanna do that for the meme now lmao.
I love that RUclips decides to recommend more FE stuff now that I started playing it agian after like 10 years. Lovely video concept x)
Glad you enjoyed the video. It's great that you indulge in this re-emerging passion also through RUclips.
Lowest con in the game is actually a perk for mounted units. They can rescue the heaviest units in the game which is useful. I don't give body rings to anyone who has a mount as a result.
That's right! I never thought of it this way.
Except lute is a girl so she gets -5 aid for no reason.
Hey, I think you’re channel fits a really cool niche in making digestible fire emblem content. I think you’re gonna blow up pretty soon so keep it up!
I appreciate that :D
I'm glad you enjoy the videos! 😊
As for your summoner run I would hack Ewan in from the start personally, but that's just me!
Thank you for the feedback :)
Future runs I am really looking forward to are as follows:
Dozla: Mostly because I think he is just a bad character.
That
... And randomly I was just hit with a rather amusing idea. Not sure if you would be able to do this, but a run as the Demon King would be amusing.
"How fast can the Demon King destroy his imposter!?"
Or something like that.
"I'm definitely gonna double the final boss and the one point of damage won't matter." And then...
Famous last words 😭🤣
I’d likely find a reset counter interesting. Even if certain resets may be do to mistakes, the fact that a run can be killed in however many ways is notable to the difficulty of a character. It might also give more context to the time on the scores. A run that has to reset has the advantage of having its routing refined in a way that a first try wouldn’t.
So it would be interesting to see, for instance, if there were two runs close to fastest if one might have been significantly more difficult to figure out.
Thank you for your input! :D
I love how my Boy Seth carries the early game of this Lute Solo run truly a goat
Seth always gotta flex that he's the top dog somehow lol
Amazing series as always. Omg 376 turns for solo run was unbelievable.
Thank you very much! I was also very surprised by how little turns it took.
See, I don't need to watch this video, because I already know the answer. I've done it on every single playthrough, after all.
Big shoutout to Jrose, huge inspiration for me! I agree with everything you're saying there.
Yeah, it's a great idea. I should be a little more careful on that front.
Something that might be helpful for fliers is that in chapter nine if you rescue all the villages you get another Angelic robe. Though nobody other the the four fliers(Six of you count the Glen and Valter) in the game will be able to make use of this as I think it is literally impossible to make it to both in time otherwise.
Don't worry I know about the angelic robe! Gonna be fun to devise a plan to be able to save both villages!
Ah okay. I just wanted to make sure as I was just replaying the game and got it. I had completely forgotten about it until it happened.
On the reset counter: Interesting to track, but I don't think it should have a ranking impact.
It seems to be the prevalent thought so far. Good thing to track, but maybe not give it any weight.
Weirdly Lute is a character that I never really used in my SS playthroughs. Not sure why, maybe her personality just doesn’t jive with me 😅 She definitely seems like a beast from this run!
It took me a while to warm up to her initially, but she can very hit or miss for regular runs since her personality can be quite off putting
She is indeed a beast!
Love the video dude! Sacred Stones was my favorite Fire Emblem game as a kid and I dumped so many hours into it. Keep up the great content
Thank you so much! I love FE8 too, one of my favs for sure.
If you think about it, Ivaldi is also +3 speed because it weighs 3 less :)
Yeah, but Excalibur's +5 passive speed technically makes it an 8 weight tome. And I hadn't thought about that lmao.
@@kratosmvn_ Made the comment before the end. Excalibur def is the play. The 19 spd making it just above doubling limit is so tilting lmao

I definitely prefer Sage for Lute. Mage Knight's Magic cap is too low, and wastes her incredible growth there.

Lute was my MVP on my first playthrough! I love mages so much they ended like monsters at the end of the game 😂
Yeah, Lute is a monster in most of my playthroughs.
I'm not surprised a mage was able to out do a beast like your last video
Magic users in the GBA games are truly busted haha.
Very true, especially in my case lmao.
Sages being able to use light magic was my favorite part of this game.
It really makes them that much stronger, gotta love it.

@@ThatGuyThai You still haven't told me how having an axe and a son is a direct reference to DQIII other than being a passing similarity. but keep being a snob about your imagination instead of actually elaborating. people like you ruined Fire Emblem.
15:00 Mage knight sounds great due to the con increase, but she loses magic on the long run because she's sure to cap magic.
Yeah, the magic caps are the big thing there.
Keep it how it is, also do Franz next he's my favorite fe8 unit
Love Franz too, can't wait to get to him.
@@kratosmvn_ Ah sick! I want him to be the next one too since he's always overshadowed by Seth.
I love Knoll but all the slander is absolutely deserved
He's as durable as a wet paper tissue, I've seen him die too many times to low percent crits that I just don't expect much else from him
My expectations for him usually are quite low! 😂
I always got get to sage as well hehehehe
Given how much guff people give Amelia, it really does show that it's a very easy time to play with her. Or is it more just that Lute's just so fragile by even magic user standards?
Good backlog of videos to go through. Reminds me of my old friends and I how we'd focus so drastically different in team dynamics and who to invest in.
Glad you're enjoying the videos. I think Lute is just very frail and low con paired with the weight of tomes can make things a little trickier.
Very worth. *Puts glasses on Amelia solo.*
I mean, we'll have to see, cause Amelia Solo might be a tough time...
I soloed hard mode (not that that's a huge accomplishment in Sacred Stones) with Lute way back in the day without much trouble. Admittedly I didn't have a ROM hack so the run started when you get her instead.
It's still fun to do :)
The next solo run should be either Joshua or Cormag
2 of my all time favs!
Just remember to pick up a rune sword for Joshua before chapter 18. lol
In regards to Defense vs Speed, my Matthew says you can't hit what you can't see lol
I mean that's not untrue at all lmao
Comment for the Alg-Gods. Thanks for the content, man.
Thank you for the comment! Glad you're enjoying the content 😊
Next time you do a magic user, maybe have a friend add a vendor next to the armory in chapter 2 that sells Fire, Lightning, and Flux tomes
That's actually an amazing suggestion! Thank you.
I'd argue that going Sage and getting light magic helps a lot in the late game as well
Yes, that is also very true!
Yeah Saleh is just so next level it's not even funny!
That's fair! Thanks for the feedback, I'll take it into account.
If it seems near impossible to do the run with the base magic tome, I say that you can add an additional base tome
The luck that is required with just the basic tome is actually insane without doing the shenanigans I did. A few people have proposed adding an extra tome.
@@kratosmvn_ yea, plus Erika basically starts with two weapons, which is an advantage for her
You already did Ross, but consider: General Amelia!
Do you, but Amelia's my fave trainee.
Amelia is on my list soon enough I'll get to her.
"Tellius Games, Awakening, Shadow Dragons, Echoes, Three Houses and Engage" so about those games and if u play fire emblem heroes? I was wondering if u could do a solo challenge for each of them? like shadow dragon caeda, engaged alear only with no rings, and radiant dawn could be only mia. awakening solo fredrick. and if u play fire emblem heroes? mabe your favorite unit of your choice and 3 dancers for events
I'm planning to get my hands on all those other games in due time! So hopefully I get to those runs soon enough :)
I'm excited for ewan or amelia
They will be very interesting runs for sure.
The format is perfect as is
Thank you for the feedback!
Hello Kratos, I know this video is a little old but I have a challenge for you. Would it be possible to beat the game by only using iron weapons? Thanks you for your content, I've always loved Fire Emblem and your videos remind of my childhood. Keep doing good!
That's actually a really fun and great idea, I'll definitely explore it at some point. Thank you for the kind words :)
Also-having to use Seth for tanking/rescuing and escorting Lute to the bosses to rush the thrones/gates sort of goes against the spirit of the solo run since it's really supposed to be unit vs the world, not unit+guard/chauffeur Seth vs the world for the first few maps, as well as using other units as decoys to lure away other enemies like with gilliam in chapter 3
'We use the solo unit in place of Eirika, so we always use eirika's route as well to keep the solo unit.' It's gonna be interesting to see you do an Ephraim solo run lol
Mage knight lute-honestly I've always gone sage lute, seems much better to me, and lute actually wants the high magic cap because she's definitely going to either hit it or get close. Also using the convoy glitch to give Lute stone so she can use all types of magic which is always fun
light rank S for sage lute-ehhh, I don't agree here. I know light tomes also have slightly boosted crit rates, but the low constitution lute has makes her take a larger speed penalty from using light tomes, especially the higher tier ones that are much heavier
forgetting metis tome-not that big of a deal really, she does have some extra levels to grow with boosted growth rates, but I don't think it would have made too big of a difference in the end.
Good job with being more tactical on the final map by doing stuff like going outside of the dracozombie range to prevent it from attacking you as well
for future runs-units that don't/can't reach 22-23 speed are going to have an *really* rough time against fomortiis because of not being able to double him.
Videos are amazing!
Thank you very much, I'm glad you're enjoying!
A good April fools video would be to do a myrrh solo with an infinite dragonstone
That's a pretty fun idea ngl!
0:16 I think she's fragile but I think in this game that doesn't matter a lot after a certain point.
Of Course!!!! She is superior after all
The prodigy on all levels.
