I have never really been huge on IG but I still use it cause my FB and IG are merged so if I post to FB with a pic it goes to IG but I don't really scroll unless I'm looking for hair inspiration for a client.
BTW. I just love your hair! Your bands look great on you and I love the fluffy fullness of your hair and those simple layers that frame your face! I have truly enjoyed seeing your channel evolve over the years and I'm so glad your keeping safe and protecting your privacy from stalker fans.

Had to delete Instagram and Tiktok because so many people over share. The amount of negativity, lies, and trends you see everyday is exhausting. Tired of the “relationship coaches, course scams, same 5 second songs and dances. It gets exhausting at some point . And I honestly think in the past people genuinely felt happiness and enjoyment in life because they didn't have access to the lives and details about the billions of people from around the world. I even got depressed thinking I'd never find a partner who isn't engaged in this nonsense. I turned off my phone, used my laptop for my entertainment, mail, ordering stuff etc, bought an MP-3 player and downloaded some lectures and audiobooks and went hiking. I got rid of my social media about 4 years ago because I went through a break up, and for my own peace of mind I wanted to have as little access to see what was going on in my ex’s life as possible. It was supposed to be temporary until I felt better about it, but it ended up being permanent for different reasons and I personally love it.
    Pros:
    -You don’t find yourself comparing
-You don’t waste time endlessly scrolling
-You live for yourself, and not to prove yourself in a post
    -More present
-You’re not as exposed to influences, so you start thinking for yourself. You would be surprised how your mind changes
-You’re not searching for validation where it doesn’t matter
    CONS:
-You become less relatable/don’t understand as many references or trends
-People think you’re a red flag for not having social media 😂
    But so worth it!

Perfectly said. And isn't it ironic how not having a social media so people can stalk you is a red flag? I've heard of people turning down dates with someone who doesn't have soocials. Instead of people getting to know you by talking to you and actually communicating, they want to form an opinion of who you are through your pictures by stalking your page beforehand. Literally backwards and nonsensical. So shallow and vapid. People are scared to get to know others and think it's weird to just talk lol.

i deleted instagram over a year ago, i realised how much edited photos i was seeing and not only that but i was convinced i needed filler and botox and a nose job (i’m a black girl), but also i realised that the people i followed were people i used to know they weren’t my friends and that i didn’t need to keep up to date with what they were doing and they didn’t need to know what i was doing.
    - also the phone thing, let me tell you how God works, i’ve been telling myself that i’ll get a flip phone and switch but hadn’t brought myself round to doing it, i drop my phone all the time for a year and now suddenly my very protected phone decided to break all over, so now i’m forced into it. im going to get a pink samsung flip phone, a polaroid camera, a camcorder, a laptop, mp3 player, and i also want to start buying dvds of shows and movies i actually love and want to watch instead of paying wild amounts of money to streaming platforms when i stick to watching the same things over. - this is just the changes in my life i feel will work for me ;-)

    • @KellyStamps
      @KellyStamps  11 месяцев назад +18

WOW. Yeah I need to do a follow up video specifically on appearance because Instagram and social media in general had me thinking that I needed to fly to Turkey to get rhinoplasty. When in reality I look completely fine and I would look crazy if I touched my nose. I think some girls do genuinely look better with a nose job but that’s if their face accommodates it. We are made to be so special in God’s image and I never want to ruin it. (Although I will admit that I did get a boob job lol.)

    • @KellyStamps
      @KellyStamps  11 месяцев назад +6

I can live with that because it’s easy to remove if I ever changed my mind or felt sick or something. And I’m not deeply insecure about it so I would be fine again without implants. It was more like a luxury since I just happen to make good money at some point in the year. But still it definitely stems from comments about being flat chested and flat

  • @bleepbleeep

    so many reasons
i deleted instagram because i felt uncomfortable that i was sort of sharing a bit too much about my life, i felt as if i can only person at a certain amount of time, or have a
specific picture, it make too superficial for me
connection felt less genuine. it’s easy to respond to my story and laugh at it, but that’s not necessarily you keeping up with me.
me deleting instagram shattered the false sense of friendship i had with people. because they responded to some of my stories and vice versa, that means we’re friends ! nope not at all.
i also find it creepy how if i was to think about someone i haven’t seen in a while, i can look up what they’re doing
it created a sense of privacy and now my life is good

  • @feminenby

the thing that pushed me over the edge was when instagram fully got rid of the *recent posts* feature for hashtags - I used to love sporadically posting my drawings and engaging with other small artists but they fully just flipped us off, and there’s no way for small artists to get *any* engagement (even amongst each other) since everything’s so consolidated ☺️
also ever since facebook bought it, the app gradually got more and more unusable (and social media in general *imo* has grown to feel sooo utterly meaningless in the grand scheme of things)

I totally get you - I've been rocking this for 3 years now. Instagram, man, it got too wild for my Gen Z taste. One of the things that struck me was how similar everyone started to look, dress, and act. It felt like there was this uniformity of trends and behaviors, as if everyone was following the same script. It's great to have trends, but when it feels like everyone is just copying each other, it becomes less about self-expression and more about fitting in.

I think I'm better now BECAUSE I got rid of this constant peek into peoples highlight reels, and the constant lens I put on myself to document and share all the 'cool' stuff going on in my life.

Being young is really overrated as we spend most of our adult lives as middle aged. Being young is a very short time span in our lives, but it seems to get the most attention & is highly desired. When we are young, we should be experimental beings (get our feet wet with dating, new friendships, investing, careers, entrepreneurship & class levels by going to an expensive restaurant, hotel, retail store, different neighborhoods to determine what lifestyle you want to live now and/or in the future) don't experiment with drugs, being overly sexual & alcohol, don't eat bad foods like ramen noodles as you will have unnecessary health issues in the mighty middle years. It is during the brief early adulthood years where we should be focused and taking actions towards what we want our life to look like when we enter the middle and elderly years. Too many young adults just waste those few years but spend the next 30 years wishing for things they should have done during that brief 20 something season. Life is what you make it.

I mostly use it to keep up with a lot of artists I follow and fellow live streamers. I try to also get it to point toward my Twitch and RUclips but sometimes I still consider ditching it… Hmm.
Love you Kelly! I totally can see why people could or should ditch it!

I redeleted it last month and my brain literally physically feels less heavy, I can say what I feel and want while watch or reading something with out “reading the comments” to formulate my OWN opinion I don’t have to go to war with comparison anymore, and you find more things to do IRL! Oh my goodness I didn’t realize how terrible it was to have social media when you already deal with terrible time management. thankfully I barely used tiktok but thats deleted as well and I feel great about it youtube is enough, I’d rather read books, play games, and hangout with my folks then mindlessly scrool for half a day.

Instagram became way more fun when I started using it as a digital scrapbook. No posts, just stories to my empty close friends list. Whenever the late night fomo or insecurities hit I just watch my archived stories, realize I do all kinds of stuff, remember that I’m literally so hot and then go to bed which is what I actually wanted to do the whole time. Life is stressful enough a bunch of strangers and brands making you feel bad.

That’s how I felt too. I was kind of tired of feeling like I was performing or providing entertainment for idiots I worked with who could care less if I lived or died…and most were jealous and watching to keep up with me anyway and it shows. A lot of people want to see what you’re doing so they can pray on your downfall and want a front row ticket if you do fail. Once that dawned on me, I deleted the apps and carried on. I don’t miss it at all.

Ughhh I’m 27 too and have also been feeling this. I used to never think about the fine lines on my forehead and once I saw a tiktok that made me consider baby botox I checked out. It’s too hard to keep up with. I love my townhouse that has all carpet and popcorn ceilings too 😂 it’s exhausting trying to keep up

You are gorgeous so you don't have to worry about appearance. I have never had an Instagram account and I am not on tiktok. I also do not follow trends and some of them are toxic and dangerous. I usually see trends as the systems way of seeing who is still easily manipulated and brainwashed. Who is easily influenced by media which is right up the Government agenda street. Take care Kelly, keep being you ❤

I am an introvert but here’s the problem I chose to go online. Looking for validation. When I was actually close to finding another way. Which created a really bad mess. It’s exhausting going back and forth trying to figure out why things were posted about me. The problem was already around me. We are born alone and struggle. I did say some things when it trended I was like wow this sucks.

I’m about to make a year in jan of no IG & FB I have ZERO regrets. I don’t miss none of that bullshit. Phoniness, people keeping tabs on you, over sharing, people tryna keep up, narcissism, even the pretentious behaviors. Best decision. I went from being on it and branding for years over sharing to be completely gone and enjoying my privacy.
