@@cannotbeblankso5972 I think a lot of it is also Todd was probably sent slightly crazy himself from what was happening in the movie industry and SJW, Rotten Tomatoes and Marvel movie culture that said his comedy movies were " not funny" and unnaceptable in 2019. The scene on the talk-show where Joker is laughing at people dying while everyone else is telling him that is not allowed to be funny and he shouts "Comedy is subjective" very much feels like its coming from Todd's mouth as much as it is Joker's.
This is Todd's best movie and a masterpiece.
The Sandbox Being inspired by and copying something are two totally different things. You try and “copy” Scorsese and make a similar film and we’ll see how it goes
When you guys bring him out, please introduce him as The Joker
at least the presenter should attemp this when Joaquin wins

I think Todd’s directing is kinda underrated in this film. His vision is clear as day and he directs this story beautifully

Phoenix got snubbed for The Master which is one of the best performances ever in cinema history. I saw the Joker and Pheonix acted his ass off again and it's a masterpiece. He deserves the Gold.

I was lucky enough to meet Lawrence Sher a few weeks ago at an event at my school and man I can't believe how outstanding the cinematography was for this movie.
I've been waiting for this conversation for a WHILE. Hopefully the Academy will understand the ideas that the filmmakers and producers have when it comes to Joker's importance based on Joaquin's performance, Lawrence's beautiful cinematography, and the brilliant story made and directed by Todd Phillips and Scott Silver.

I love how they’re not avid comic readers for the storytelling but are rather telling the story from a movie makers point of view. Although they did do research and got some influence from the killing joke and other jokers they’re initial reason for making the movie is for great storytelling, character study, and movie making. Amazing !! Plus Joaquin as expected was phenomenal

Joker masterpiece
One or my favorite shots is when he walks out of Sophie's appartment and the camera is pointed up towards him as he walks back to his aprtment, and the music is just fuckin booming. It's so terrifying I love it.
The second time I watched it the audio was abnormally loud and usually I'd hate it but for this movie it really added to its marvel. I fucking loved it. The score was perfect!
Can’t believe the guy who made the hangover trilogy made this masterpiece of a movie 🙌 we crossed our fingers, prayed, and it paid off

Joker and I cannot stress this enough for Best Picture - Director - Actor - Screenplay - Cinematography - Score - Editing - Makeup.
The negative press is really disappointing. I would bet some of the negative critics have downplayed mental illness in their own experiences and it gives them some feeling of self conscious and guilt. If black panther can be nominated for best picture and not the joker... all I can think of "is it just me, or is it getting crazier out there?"
Just imagine Olivia Colman presenting the Best Actor award, then she says "and the Oscar goes to...", opens the envelope, grins and says "send in the clown" and the whole theater erupts into cheers and applause, how awesome would that be?

It's time for a Comic book movie to Win Best Picture. It's a worthy winner. It's just below The Dark Knight. In terms of quality and the overall package
You can't really compare the two, dark knight was an all out batman action movie and this movie in particular is a character study.
Also the movie is divisive. It's not everybodys taste. Divisive rarely wins. It needs to be loved by most voters. Plus it also depends on competition. Are there really no better pictures out there?

@@Denis-89 I'm aware how the nominations are finalised and how the winners are decided, I was giving my personal preference. Most probably joker won't win due to the controversies surrounding it and the SJWs and the woke members in the academy. They nominated something like Black Panther but snubbed Logan and The Dark Knight.
Best film of the year without a doubt. Such a beautiful, powerful film. Best film I’ve seen in years. I saw it 7 times in the theater. Thank you for this masterpiece. Those that live with mental illness get it.
