@@jelly_fish_wishes you know how there was a kingdom before hollownest bellow the void ocean? The scale of the void completely dwarfing the Radiance is actually kind of terrifying. But I guess the old saying about the universe is true: partly stars, mostly void.
The entire ending took place within the Godseeker's mind. Hornet will never know what the hell happened. To her, the Infection just vanished, and the Hollow Knight is suddenly back. Crazy.
@@fiso64 well imagine you're hornet, you're sitting around the black egg when, suddenly, the infection vines begin shriveling up and dying. then you hear loud footsteps coming from behind you, so you draw your weapon
Why do I love the difference between the Radiance's scream in this ending and the true ending? Like how in this ending Radiance straight up screams like it's completely in pain, while in the other one it's just a scream of "Damn, I was defeated"
I believe that the Delicate Flower version of this ending is the best ending. -The Radiance is gone. -The Infection is gone. -The Hollow Knight is free of infection, just like everybody else. (Don't know how they got a Pure Nail, though.) -The Shade Lord is contained in Godhome.
There's another nail smith, or rather ancient nail smith in kingdom's edge. It is believed that that bug was the one forged the pure nail for The Hollow Knight.
That being at the end that Hornet is about to fight is the Hollow Knight, as she is waiting before the black egg for your arrival, and you can totally hear the chains that bound him as he walks.
makes sense as we you know, never kill him in this ending, only bind him and dream nailhim, though it does beg the question with the infection gone would he actually be hostile? maybe hes a friend
OOOOOOH THAT MAKES SENSE! I was wondering why Hornet was there if you didn’t have to defeat the Hollow Knight (and also why the Black Egg Temple isn’t void goop)
Don't abandon your kids, folks. They might just take it to heart, and aim to wipe out the entire world by tapping into an ancient, eldritch darkness. Or at least find you, and keep their revenge personal.
@@herculesatan4514 well this may be because the pale king based his work on the best type of bug to create the best weapon. it may be that zote's father or more in the family are considered the best fighters. this explains some points of why zote behaves like he does in the game. This is but a theory after all...
Not saying he did not, but I havent seen anyone upload a full video of that, so I still would believe in the possibility of cheating with cheat engine.
@@finalecrafter but it's no problem to defeat all HK's bosses without charms, soul, half of your shell and much less nail damage. Any normal person does that every day.
If the person chained up with near unbreakable chains just starts strolling out like he wasn’t just locked up for several years we would all be pretty shocked as well
Remember, the third ending hasn't happened if you do this. As you fight the radiance inside Godseeker, Hornet is still at the black egg temple waiting for you. I think the one hornet encounters at the end is the first hollow knight. You see towards the end of the cutscene as the orange color slowly fades from the area around the temple. Therefore, the hollow knight is free of the infection, but all the void is out of control now since your character is an all powerful god. If there is a Hornet DLC, the final boss will probably be your knight, embued by the power of all the gods it has absorbed.
Personally, I think this is the best ending. Hornet: Not stuck in the egg. The Hollow Knight: Not being used for permanent containment of moth god, and actually alive. The Knight (Player): ??? Honestly i’m not entirely sure what happens, obviously being the lord of shades, the Hollow Knight unifies and gives the void mind or whatever, and combines with it. Assuming this means the void is semi-sentient, and since it has sentience through the Knight, it probably isn’t evil. I don’t necessarily think its good, but we don’t see much of it other than shadow tentacles and stuff. All around? * Probably * the best ending, assuming shade lord is a neutral party, and not about to consume the world.
And remember in the "Dream no more" ending, the knight only seals the Radiance away inside the void until it dies, while in this ending the knight straight up smacks her to death
It was either completely shocked and terrified or as someone else pointed out, embracing the void(just like the ending’s name) since the shade lord is basically the god of gods to them the very thing they wanted to worship
why are people assuming we are evil all of a sudden all I can see is that the infection is gone hence the hollow knight walks out of the black egg and leaves hornet in disbelief
If this ending leads straight into the Hornet DLC, and given the implications of the ending here, I think it'd be a safe assumption to say that while the Knight fought against the Light of the Radiance, Hornet's overarching antagonist could possibly be the Dark of the Void gone out of control (the same way Radiance's light got out of control and manifested as the Infection). Because while in the "Dream No More" ending, the Knight and the Hollow Knight's Shades beat the shit out of the Radiance, in this ending, some "thing" completely destroys the Radiance (old ending, Radiance gets dragged into the void - new ending, Radiance erupts into a bunch of tiny dream mandalas), and you can see the Void leaking into Godhome (which is a dream btw) and consuming the Godseeker. Given the almost indiscriminate way the Void (presumably) does SOMETHING to the Godseeker and the rise in music and tone into the Hornet scene and to what is presumably the Knight preparing for combat (look at the Pure Nail, which the Nailsmith claims is the only one in Hallownest), it can be pretty safe to assume that the Knight is definitely going to fight Hornet (if she recognises the Knight, why would she raise her needle into a combat stance, unless if the Knight was preparing for combat or something was wrong with him?). And the Knight's position - it is slouched over and its head shape is curved to the bottom (starkly resembling the Hollow Knight). So perhaps its size could have increased because of the Void becoming stronger and going wild. This is just a bunch of theorizing though, so I could be completely wrong, and that could be the Hollow Knight. Also it'd be cool if Hornet fought against the unleashed Void while the Knight fought against the unleashed Radiance. Two campaigns, two different and opposite antagonists. Maybe she could call the folks at the Grimm Troupe and get Nightmare King Grimm to whoop the Knight's ass >150 times and re-trigger its PTSD. Also, how the FUCK did you do the Pantheon of Hallownest with all four bindings?
I think that's the Hollow knight who is now free since the infection is gone. The Sword is a lot longer and leaner. Plus you can see just a littk bit of the head
Hollow Knight's nail during his ACTUAL fight (both as Pure Vessel and as The Hollow Knight) is a hand-drawn piece of (blank) metal, as is the nail of the player character, regardless of nail quality. Whether the Pure Nail belongs to the Knight or the Hollow Knight is a matter up for debate, but the Nailsmith you meet in the game has clearly never made a Pure Nail before and is, most likely, the only person alive in Hallownest who can create one. However, there is still the Ancient Nailsmith in Kingdom's Ege (where you get Quick Slash) who can presumably create one, and there is a distinct possibility that there were other nailsmiths who created a Pure Nail for the Hollow Knight before they all presumably died. However, there is just simply not enough information to be able to plausibly conclude which figure faces Hornet at the end. EDIT: Also, I didn't notice that dragging sound when the figure walks up to Hornet. It's probably chains.
That perfect nail must belong to the Hollow Knight, because you get the exact same cutscene if you complete the 5th pantheon without having forged a perfect nail at the nailsmith.
I mean, it could also be that the Nailsmith simply didn't know another Perfect Nail had already been created. I refuse to believe that, of all the bugs in Hallownest, there is only ONE Nailsmith. Or the Pale King had created it somehow, idk.
@@duck3892 It's the same detail as a pure nail, there is also a dead nailsmith that can be found where the quick slash charm is, if you use the dreamnail on it's body it only says "pure..." the same dialogue goes to the nailsmith who forges the knight's nail if you decide to kill him after forging the pure one, so maybe that dead nailsmith forged a pure nail to the hollow knight
Okay, a lot of people are missing one big hint about who hornet is facing in the end. The shape of the mask. It seems to be pointed near the bottom, and only Hornet and Hollow knight have a pointed bottom. And what Hornet’s facing is definitely not herself. Not only that, but you can hear Hollow Knight’s chains rattling as it drags itself. I believe that even though Hollow knight would technically be free now, it’s now ‘infected’ by that THING that kills the Radience. In the original true ending, the Radiance is only pulled into the void, not destroyed. But in this ending, the Radiance is almost definitely destroyed, along with the Godseeker and Godshome. I believe that our Knight in this ending, instead of commanding the Void, became the GOD of the Void and killed the Radiance. And in the end, the Hollow Knight breaks free, hence the chains, and is possessed by the ‘God of the Void’, Knight.
Makes sense since Godseeker seeked out who she believed were worthy of the title of "Gods" and our little shadow beat them all, so yes I do believe the one to defeat all gods became more. But what more powerful than a god of Hallownest?
Or a god above all gods, like a Christ figure. But instead of the Christ figure being a bright, graceful, merciful God, it’s an Empty, Lightless, Cold, Calculating, terrifying, Merciless God. Somewhat like The Christian God, except... THE EXACT OPPOSITE. He loosely resembles in appearance the creature holding the bowl in the abyss that grants you the shade cloak. One last thing, though. If you give the Godseeker a White flower, the ending is different. Instead of Godseeker being consumed by the void and tentacles flying out, the White flower seems to absorb the Void essence, protecting the Godseeker . Could there be more than meets the eye to this tiny, white flower? If so, will the White flowers be important to the story in the Hornet DLC?
I think that the Knight, being truly empty, was 'reclaimed' by the void when this entity manifested to destroy The Radiance. The Hollow Knight was NOT reclaimed by the Void, however, for the same reason that it couldn't contain the Radiance: Because it wasn't truly empty. I'm hoping now he kinda takes a sort of companion role in the DLC.
I like this ending the best. It's cool that the Knight becomes the Shadelord, and there's no telling what'll happen when it reaches the rest of Hollownest. The Radiance is obliterated, even the Hollow Knight is recovered from the infection along with everyone.
...Is that Void-Shade-Lord... *thing* our *Little Ghost?* Lord of Shades, Void Heart, the Void under your will, power without unity... or is it *something else* entirely? If so... what *is that?*
Rawin Taychamekiatchai I can't tell if The little Ghost became that thing, or just got consumed by the void and this thing arrived to kill it's ancient rival.
+SubjectXIII Well the void heart says that the "void is unified under the bearer's will" so even if that void monster isn't the knight its self it is in theory under there control
Once little ghost obtains the void heart he becomes lord of shades, the void bends to his will which so happens to be pk's, during the entire process of God master ghost slowly gains his own will and void given mind destroys not consumes, Ghosts eight eyed form is labeled the God of gods and his will is his own now
That seems to be a common theory, and an admittedly believable one given the large scale of a few of the bosses we've seen in the Silksong Trailer. Also the assassins in Silksong that are after Hornet seen to have Void essence of their own. Maybe they're after her because the Shade Lord fears her.

I love how the hollow knight immediately leaves having broken the chains, and how you can hear said chains I like to think just like how he suppressed emotions to be this vessel It knew the chains wouldn’t hold it but refused to break them themself because they wanted to make their father proud, but with the radiance gone it had no reason to stick around I really hope we get so see more of our beloved one armed knight
The Dream No More ending had The Radiance pulled beneath a sea of void, effectively sealing her for good, but still not fully killing her. In this ending? She’s torn to shreds, completely destroyed. No hope of returning from this true death.
im very late but i think the radiance dies in the normal ending too, given how much essence was pouring out of her and how she's made of essence. she did the dream equivalent of bleeding out
Did you see this *Sea of Void* that is following you when you fight the Absolute Radiance? It's because *you* have now the Kingsoul that Transcendet to the Voidheart, in other words: *you are the King of the Void now* The Shade Lord, the Void that was given mind and focus. *You* the Knight.
Yeeksquilack there should be only one pure nail as the nail smith wanted to feel the nails”exquisite edge”and die. Looks like the hollow knight has a different nail. Maybe a coiled nail?
Fun fact: it's hinted that godsseker likes being attacked by higher being, so, it would totally be in character to play the, OH, HARDER DADDY!, line from angel dust during the scene she's being attacked.
that moment when you realize... we were playing as the main villain all along... and yea, its kinda curious how the whole DLC is basically a journey to prove the Godseekers that the knight is worthy of a God status and turn into the official God of Void.
Giving the flower to godseeker prevents the explosion WHICH MEANT THAT ANY VOID THE FLOWER TOUCHES IS DESTROYED WHICH EXPLAINED WHY THE WHITE LADY SAID WE SHOULDN’T HAVE IT
I just love imagining the Hollow Knight, who resigned himself to being sealed away for all eternity to contain the Radiance, waking up to find the seals dissipating due to not being needed anymore and the Radiance just *gone* wondering “whaaaat the fuck just happened?” And the first thing he’s greeted by when exiting the back egg is a ready for combat Hornet and is just wondering “who the fuck are you? What’s going on!?”
Decades ago, a vessel manifested in Godhome. Seemingly overnight, they began to topple gods that had been dominant for centuries. That kind of raw power had never been harnessed by a vessel before. Then, they broadcasted their carnage all throughout Godhome, just so everyone could witness their ability. The godseekers started calling them the... Shade Lord (as lazy as that is).
I imagine that if Silksong were to be a sequel the Hollow Knight would instead be an ally to Hornet and not an enemy as the Hollow Knight has no need to be hollow anymore, the Radiance is dead, and are both siblings birthed of the same father they loved.
Yes, most likely. At the end we can see the hollow knight: but it might be someone else, but here are some poinetrs: It has a super long nail like the hollow knight, with cracks and dents, but looks like a pure nail: which makes most people believe this is our knight: but do you know if you kill the nailsmith after getting the pure nail and dreamnail his corpse: It says pure. Go to the quick slash area where you get it, where the ancient nailsmith is and dream nail him, saying the exact same thing: pure, meaning there was wo pure nails and could be the hollow knight's new weapon. And he has a pointed end on his face, looking similar to THK. Oh and, listen closely, you can hear chains dragging :)
Not going to lie, The Radiance’s screams really fucked me up alittle there. it really does make it sound like she’s in complete agony and i have a feeling that’s what they were going for with her screams during that scene.
It looks like he kills the radiance, takes over godhome and covers it in void, becomes the new god and is probably the new villain that hornet has to fight. So we replaced the radiant god with a void god? Maybe we'll play hornet in the next dlc, trying to defeat the knight
When you kill billions of children to seal a tyrannic hive mind god, but one of the children you killed unified void and now is unstoppable, wants to kill everything related to light/order and is pissed off
i really like this ending best. people debate on what the shade lord is, but if you continue stuff in godhome after beating that dlc, the godseeker literally just calls the pc the god of gods. You are the shade lord, so if you do the delicate flower ending you're literally just sealing yourself away.
at the end of the cutscene you see the pure vessel ( a boss at god home) since we didn’t have to kill the hollow night to defeat radiance that means that the hollow night has been purified and is no longer infected by radiance.
First time I beat the game I was like "damn, the void is really powerful." then the first time I beat Godhome I was like "oh, so the void is an eldritch god now, cool."

Those last five notes before the video ends are the first notes of the Broken Vessel theme, just thought I'd put that out there and let everyone debate over its lore value
Out of all the endings, I kinda think this is my favorite one. A new dark demon has arrived to hollownest as the hollow knight awakens with no sign of the knight.
HOLY SHIT. Frickin huge chunk of lore I have to decipher now. Let’s get on with it! Ok, so at the start of the video, we see the knight defeating the radiance, but instead of the knight destroying the radiance, the radiance is pulled into the void and some *thing* destroys the radiance. What is this *thing* ? Ok, remember how when you first go to the abyss, or you go to the abyss before you have void heart, and the siblings + void tentacles attack you? The void is doing that. The void is doing that because it thinks that you are the pale king, and it wants to kill the pale king. Why? Because a, the pale king used the void for his own intentions and the void didn’t like that and b, the pale king was a sort of light, and the void is darkness and it’s one job in existence is to snuff out any and all light. The radiance’s light is much much stronger than the king. The void only used void tentacles and siblings because the pale king wasn’t the strongest of light, and because the radiance was much stronger. I believe that the stronger the light, the more dangerous the void becomes. The radiance was the strongest light in all of hallownest, so the void created that huge monster to destroy the radiance, because the radiance was so bright. After the void monster destroys the radiance, the void proceeds to leak into godhome. This is because the battleground/platform where you fight the radiance is in godhome, above the main section. So the void leaks into the lower, main part of godhome and destroys the godseeker because I’m guessing it’s a kind of light too. Then, the godseekers body in the waking world of hallownest explodes into void, because the void overtook it. Next thing we see, Hornet is out side of the black egg, but still inside the temple (the place between the outside of the crossroads and the egg.) She looks around, seeing how the infection is fading away, and then all of a sudden some huge thing comes to her, and she gets into a combat stance. What is this thing? It could be the hollow knight. The thing that confuses many people is how this thing has a pure nail, and how the nail smith said there was only one pure nail in all of hallownest. He could have either been telling the truth, lying, or flat out didn’t know and was just assuming since it was so hard to forge a pure nail. So that means that, if the nail smith was telling the truth, then that pure nail is the knight’s, and that thing is the knight or the hollow knight took the pure nail from our knight, though this is unlikely some that nail looks more slim than our’s, so that is probably not our nail. It could be the angle of the shot, but I’m just going to say that is not our nail. That means that could be the hollow knight’s nail, since the pure vessel in the fourth pantheon did have a pure nail, if I remember correctly. Since the infection is gone, the hollow knight would probably be the pure vessel. But how would he get a pure nail? The one that the hollow knight has when inside the black egg temple during the fight looks like a regular nail. So that means that that probably is our nail, and maybe something happened to it to distort it to make it longer. That could be possible. Another thing to notice is the nail is broken, and some people think that that would be the hollow knight’s nail because the nail it had in the black egg temple was broken, or had cracks. I really doubt that that would be the hollow knight’s nail though because, again, that thing was not a pure nail. So in conclusion, that leaves us with two possible outcomes. Either a, the hollow knight is still alive, our knight died, and the hollow knight took our nail, or b, that thing is us, and that nail is our nail. There’s one more thing though. If you listen carefully at the last clip, you can here chains being dragged or something when that thing comes into view. The hollow knight was chained up, so that is evidence that that is the hollow knight, so it is probably a. Thanks for reading this far, sorry this comment was so long.
I didn't read the hornet part sorry just cause Lots of reading But counter points to the first part (if I read it correctly): The void heart makes the tenticles and siblings stop attacking you. Why? Because you are the leader of the void persay. That's why in the original radience fight you have all the siblings and void rising up to help you, letting you break your shell and pull the radience into the void. Something similar is happening here. What's happening here is that the main character joins the void and becomes that creature that destroyed the god seeker and radience. Two reasons I believe this: When you beat Radience the knight's shell (the mask) breaks and you see his void body turn into a ball and join the rest if the void. I believe that implies he's joining the void, not being killed by it That and when you beat radience you get the achievement, "Embracing the void" or something like that. That implies that you, well, embraced the void. Sorry if I misread something you said or explained it poorly, if your confused don't be afraid to ask!
I think this is some kind of restored, unfragmented Void that has awakened. The lack of siblings, and the way the Knight seems to be absorbed into the Void implies this fight is done without the aid of the Void Heart, thus the Knight isn't controlling what's happening. I think something very, VERY bad has woken up. And I think it's pissed.
I just feel bad for godseeker. I mean if you listen closely you can hear how terrified she is. She searched for the "god of God's" and now that she found it and realized what it is, all she can do is moan in pure despair.
@@Syliag7 It makes sense though. One of Godseekers quotes is "Punish this shell, o God of Gods! Blast our frail, worthless form to ash. We welcome thine fury! Desire beyond desire".

Did anyone noticed Hornet's a little shocked breath when Hollow Knight started walking from Black Egg? XD
Well...
Then, probably in one of the endings, Hornet saves the Knight, happy all together hopefully :)
@@peachybun-ana ;v; hopefully
" If there is a Hornet DLC".......oh my dear friend
To be young and have dream am i right :}
Personally, I think this is the best ending.
I agree. Also, the Knight is one who unifies void, not Hollow Knight.
I mean sentience ≠ morals. For all we know this thing could be worse.
Depending on how you played the game up to that point, the Dreamers could still be alive as well.
So, in this ending little cute Knight became epic void Chadlord, that eats god moths for breakfast :D
Yes
I love a happy ending
And remember in the "Dream no more" ending, the knight only seals the Radiance away inside the void until it dies, while in this ending the knight straight up smacks her to death
Vore
Hornet : *ah gitgud, here we go again*
its her turn to git gud
You either die a hero (dream no more) or live long enough to see yourself become the villain (Embrace the void).
real punpun from 5 years ago
Absolute power and overwhelming presence of the accession of the void is pretty terrifying tbh, I can only imagine how terrified the god seeker was.
It was either absolutely scared or in utter shock and a little happiness that they finally found the most powerful being in existence.
It was either completely shocked and terrified or as someone else pointed out, embracing the void(just like the ending’s name) since the shade lord is basically the god of gods to them the very thing they wanted to worship
So we become the new final boss for the next DLC. Nice.
Were the shade lord
@@vitalost9935 ough
When there wont be a new dlc :(
why are people assuming we are evil all of a sudden all I can see is that the infection is gone hence the hollow knight walks out of the black egg and leaves hornet in disbelief
It's thk and pk can afford a pure nail, he is the king of Hallownest after all
Plus you can hear the sound of chains which was what was holding the Hollow knight
@@squirrelfart275 it's clearly thk; nail is long, face is similar, comes from black egg temple, has a *broken* nail
That perfect nail must belong to the Hollow Knight, because you get the exact same cutscene if you complete the 5th pantheon without having forged a perfect nail at the nailsmith.
It's not the pure nail, I think it's actually just coiled
Given the fact that only the Little Knight has the pure nail, it's definitely Hollow Knight
@@chip460 in the 4 months that passed after I made that comment, wouldn't you think I'd notice?
Jell-O 101 a god of Hallownest and other kingdoms, maybe.
If you beat all the bosses in the hall of gods on radiant it unlocks a statue of that void monster and it's called "God of Gods"
"Yes, it's breaking apart! That means I get to be the new god! That's how it works, right?!""

@@Allday524 I beilive its just are little ghost becomeing pure evil incarnet.
+SubjectXIII Well the void heart says that the "void is unified under the bearer's will" so even if that void monster isn't the knight its self it is in theory under there control
Once little ghost obtains the void heart he becomes lord of shades, the void bends to his will which so happens to be pk's, during the entire process of God master ghost slowly gains his own will and void given mind destroys not consumes, Ghosts eight eyed form is labeled the God of gods and his will is his own now
If it's the same Little Ghost then I know what we must do... Quickly! GATHER THE BUZZSAWS!

That seems to be a common theory, and an admittedly believable one given the large scale of a few of the bosses we've seen in the Silksong Trailer. Also the assassins in Silksong that are after Hornet seen to have Void essence of their own. Maybe they're after her because the Shade Lord fears her.

You're basically a black hole- a void in space from which light cannot escape, no matter how radiant it is.
I may be stupid, but the eight eye thing looks similar to the Hunter to me. I guess Knight became a similar entity?
i really like this ending best. people debate on what the shade lord is, but if you continue stuff in godhome after beating that dlc, the godseeker literally just calls the pc the god of gods.

0:47 my reaction when seeing this ending for the first time

Those last five notes before the video ends are the first notes of the Broken Vessel theme, just thought I'd put that out there and let everyone debate over its lore value
Jo Bro broken vessel's theme shares
the hollow knight's leitmotif. the menu theme is the theme of the vessels.
Well the menu theme shows up in a lot of other places. But you are right with those final notes, they are also in the Hollow Knight's theme
*There wouldn't be shadow, without light*
I didn't read the hornet part sorry just cause
Lots of reading
But counter points to the first part (if I read it correctly):
The void heart makes the tenticles and siblings stop attacking you.
Two reasons I believe this:
When you beat Radience the knight's shell (the mask) breaks and you see his void body turn into a ball and join the rest if the void. I believe that implies he's joining the void, not being killed by it
That and when you beat radience you get the achievement, "Embracing the void" or something like that.
Testeur Natha I think she had it coming she was focusing the knights power and by extension the will of the void
@@anartist8681 yes but I don't really think she expected THAT
I feel like she's more in awe than fear.
@@musicano3647 I'm not sure about that
@@Syliag7 It makes sense though. One of Godseekers quotes is "Punish this shell, o God of Gods! Blast our frail, worthless form to ash. We welcome thine fury! Desire beyond desire".
If this was what the Void used to be like before being disunited I understand the Ancient Civilization
If this showed up I'd start worshipping too
Imagine Pure Vessel as the first boss in Silksong
This game deserves more DLCs, after Hornet. So beautiful. Still hoping for the Abyss DLC, even though the stretch goal was not reached.
No one can escape from the abyss
If that shade lord thing _is_ our dear little ghost, why would it be considered evil? The knight isn't inherently evil, so if he really does transform into that thing then the shade lord must be a good duy too right?
People really don't consider that when they talk about it being the final boss, it mostly won't be the final boss either way though.
I need the soundtrack to this ending ;-;
I imagine the Radiance screaming in defiance:
"NO! I WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN! I... WILL... NOT... AAAAAAAAAH!!!"
As powerful as light is, even it someday will have to return to the void from which it came.
the music around 1:20 should be the knight's victory theme if they ever get into smash
