Every time you read "turning point", you know the episode will be crazy.
turning point 67 is wild
Every time? It is only 4
@@rf7182And? What’s your point exactly? 😂 You literally proved him right.
Every turning point, the series become different genre in a sense, TP1 adventur time, TP2 depresion time, TP3 psycology horor and so on
@@rf7182 5, actually
Children are often used as tokens and pawns in medieval/ rennaisance era poltical schemes. Marriges were used to forge allances and make power plays. So what Eris's father and grandfather were talking about was definetly realistic.
By placing rudy as a potential heir to the notos family but married into the boreas branch it would have been a big power play and could have set the boreas up to become the new head family.
Also Rudeus is a potential Powerhouse for the near future, a Water Saint Mage since he was 5 years old is an amazing feat, just like Paul told him on episode 3 you could count King Class mages all over the world probably with 2 hands, imagine having noble blood from a powerful bloodline with wealth and status + more than enough personal power to sustain his position (may add Ghislaine as another pawn in the ranks), that's a serious power play to take over the entire family
@@pedrod.guimaraes5030 Paul told him you can probably count all the king class mages on one hand.
@@renaudnadeauWhich I’m pretty sure we have already seen more than that but anyways
@@Ravioli638 What are you talking about? Roxy is the only King Class Mage that we have met so far. Orsted possibly if he is even considered a mage since he isn't human.
They obviously don't watched game of thrones. That's exactly why mushoku tensei is so good, because it does something that many other anime just don't do, but a lot of real series do
a persons memories do not dictate how mentally old they are Rudeus may have the memories of his past life but his brain dictates how mentally old he is
Rudeus refers to himself as a 40-50 year old multiple times in the story. He's an adult in a childs body, and a self proclaimed p*dophile.
Quotes:
"My previous life of thirty-four years, my current life of sixteen years. Fifty years that I’d lived, in total, and yet I’d done it again."
"What the hell was that rage-filled creature anyways? In all my forty years of life I had never seen something like that before.
i beg to differ when a child can easily outsmart his own father like it's childs play. there really is no excise for his actions, people just want to give him a pass. he could always go to a brothel and get actual women but he constantly goes after kids, hell with his skills, he could amass lots of money and get his own harem but the author keeps wanting to write him in a way whee he keeps going after inexperienced and naive young girls. the world he lives in his pretty cool and lots of cool ass characters, but as an mc, he's hella annoying
@@Gauss6174 idk about the brothel part. At least not at this current time. Didn't seem like he could till around 15/16. But then we start hearing how he feels in terms of identity. Also he wouldn't have feelings for those women. He would always be too old. I think they correct the brain dilemma more in the 2nd season. Even though not fully.
@@keodantes3907 dude gets horny around most women ......not that I blame him, except for the kids. Too bad he couldn't get it up for that prostutute in season 2 who was trying to repay him
@Gauss6174 your argument is flawed considering I as a child was able to outsmarted my parent a few times. Not necessarily being specific with Rudy but IRL adults often underestimate a child's ability to be cunning. Some, not all kids are sneakier than we like to give them credit for.
I don't think this is a spoiler, because those who adapted the anime decided not to include Eris's point of view, her mother was the one who convinced her to "give" herself to Rudeus, since Eris also wanted to marry him, however, she is scared by the fact that he took the initiative without considering how she felt and that's why she hit him, but at that moment she thought exactly the same as Rudeus "I blew it, I just passed up the opportunity to be with Rudeos" and so she returned with the intention of apologizing, but Rudeus did it first.
Yeah, her mother's reasoning was sound but so cruel😢
@@ronfarmer1933but it does make sense the fact that Eris keep punching everyguy that she meet that possibly be her Husband in the future and made them run away. But Rudeus different after he got punched by Eris he stay still with her, that's why her mom thought Rudeus the only one that can take her.
finally, nice explanation.
One of my favourite lines:
When meeting Eris for the first time:
"That crazy violent creature. This is the first time in my 40 year life that I have seen that.
It is the incarnation of violence."
😁😁😁😁
Thanks now i don’t have to type this out 😂
i would like to point out that Eris wasn't mad that Rudeus touched her just that he went overboard she told him he could touch her a little. also it was her mother who told her to go to rudeus room, but Eris is strong willed she will never do anythig she doesn't want to do. IE she really wants to marry Rudeus, also she told him to wait until he is 15 and than he can go overboard meaning they technically just got engaged
In this episode Eris is 12 while Rudy turns 10. They become adults at 15. Now the show truely begins.
mushoku always like to go into the gray zone and like make people incomfy, but that what i like this show, because it different and it doesnt go the way the normal isekai MC does. You can see over the whole series rudy evolve so much from when he as a kid to becoming a man
Although Philip was the one that said that he'll leave her tied up, it's was Hilda (Eris's mom) who convinced her to stay the night with Rudy... So yeah, Eris is surrounded by weird ass people.
Because she fears that she wouldn't marry otherwise. Eris is too wild for the nobles to accept, at best she would become the concubine of some other noble family, so they gave up and expect that she will be happy becoming an adventurer, rather than staying with the nobles. Having Rudeus, would allow her to have someone that tolerates her wildness (all the punches and stuff) while keeping the noble status.
Well, not that weird ass if you consider political power struggles are very real and Philip is in a position of weakness cause he lost the sucession battle to his brother, so marrying her daughter to Rudeus, son of Paul Notos Greyrat, the one who would be the heir of the Notos family had he not ran away in his youth, is a damn good opportunity to stage a coup and seize control of both Notos and Boreas. Hilda would very much like it too, since if the coup succeeds, she gets to have her other two sons back.
@@claudiowenzel6416yeah but that's so sad that, eris's family will be dead 😢and Hilda not back his both sons💔
But Hilda is weird boobs, not weird ass
@@claudiowenzel6416thx
Every episode with the title "turning point" means a big change in the main plot of the story, I can't say more about that as it would be a big spoiler. Great reaction ❤
people nowadays say it's 18 when the girl becomes old enough
but in the old days it was 12 enough and a girl could be married for almost 1.5 million years
Rudeus turned 10, eris is 12. In the olden days the age of marriage was 15 only recently it became 18 in western society. My mom was married to my dad when she was 15 in SEA so its still happening somewhere in the world.
there is a reason why this is the best isekai in my version.
Light Novel Mushoku Tensei managed to become Top 1 most popular LN on global Bookwalker in 2023.
The Turning Points are absolutely insane!
Enjoyed the reaction. In a medieval society, which aside from magic, this the world is, "underage drinking" would be pretty common simply because there weren't that many tasty alternatives to alcohol or water. You could squeeze fruit juice, but it's less appetizing with no refrigeration; you could drink milk, but again, it won't keep for long away from the cow (unless you make a fermented drink out of it like koumiss). Alcohol was routinely drunk by all ages in the medieval period, whether as beer, wine (if rich), or strong cider, though of course it would be generally be mixed with water when drunk by children and often by others as well. "Small beer" - a very thick, low-alcohol beer - was a staple in much of Europe regardless of age. Alcohol also had the advantage of getting rid of germs (possibly important if the water supply was not up to modern standards, although most locals would probably have developed a tolerance for local bugs).
In the light novel, right after Rudeus did that he felt so bad about it he had suicidal thoughts but then Eris returned and forgave him. I guess it would have been too dark at the time to show that, haha...
"He's the hero" 👏
When they see turning point 2(or is it 3 at the end of the season...) They will be absolutely blown away
It's Turning Point 2.
spoiler????
@@xoxo-di9kz eh, not so much spoiler as building up hype, which shouldn't be done anyways but that's too late.
@renaudnadeau they literally have no idea there are more turning points. need I say more 💀
@@xoxo-di9kz eh. The title gives that away by numbering it. They might not have realized it right away but it's right there.
You guys should stop seeing Rudeus as an old man, that's the thing. It is clear in the novels that he is just a child with a past life memories, he's not an adult in a boy's body. His brain is that of a child, he will be living adolescence again, meaning that he's no this old creepy horny dude, he's a creepy preteen kid that happens to have memories of a past life.
Also, most fantasy stories are based in medieval times in our history, most of what you see in these type of anime, young marriages, offering your daughter to a good prospect, considering adulthood in teenage years, polygamy among nobles, all of that was the most normal thing. Never judge the past by today's norms, same applies here pretty much.
Rudeus makes use of his past life experience of 34 years multiple times throughout the series. He uses it when making choices and decisions. He refers to himself as a 50 year old in volume 12, when he adds up his current age and his previous lifes age and combines them. He is an adult in a childs body.
Rudeus even calls himself what he is, a Lolicon, when he lusts after Julie in volume 18. Hes a self admitted p*dophile. And because Rudeus says that in inner-monologue, thats the same as the author saying it.
There is no reason to defend Rudeus actions in these episodes. What he did was disgusting, because mentally, he is an adult living with an adults mind inside a childs body. The author makes it clear Rudeus is a p*do/lolicon.
This episode is full of content from Rudeus’ sculptures, to his party, and the disturbing scenes, as well as world building and character introductions. So many things to talk about from one episode
"funny" thing in this scene at rudys room,. is that it wasnt phillip who sent Eris there, it was her mother (Hilda).
The way Devi said crush it. She looked so satisfied seeing rudy get stomped out 😂 7:59.
5:50 8 episode in and she still doesn't understand that the show is based on an earlier time, where a lot of things were normal, which is no longer the case today
unlike other animes sex is not meant to be a joke in this show so it is intended to make you uncomfy
That's freaking hilarious scene not gonna lie 😂😂😂 Rudyperviness have no bounds.
These 8 episode were meant to introduce the loser rudy to us, the bum who wasted his past life.
And the rest of the story will be how will rudeus struggle with his past self and become a better new person unlike most of the new isekai that just completely do over its mc's personality
Now the show truly begins
Rudeus: Seeks beastgirl tush, receives instead GOALS
The notorious 'Turning Points' is here!
The scene was very comfy since Eris wanted it. But Rudy was too much of a virgin and too inexperienced with girls that he went in too strongly
the lost and broken nature of American culture from it's roots is depressing as it's endemic across all, if you grew up in Europe you knew this used to happen - it's part of history and you learn it, you might not approve of it but you get the meaning. It happened in Eastern countries too and I've heard a youtuber describe it best out of everything I've heard on the topic.
Until very recently, life was very hard for a lot of people which meant you had to sacrifice for that life the things you might have wanted to do. A farmer may have been a great writer or artisan, but his job of feeding the local barony by working his fields is the way he sacrificed for the people around him.
The Nobles didn't have that problem, BUT they equally had to sacrifice for others as they had the same pressures that affect the poor - just on the opposite end. They didn't have to toil in the fields every year, but they had to have alliances and treaties with others to safeguard from war, famine or political instability, they may have loved a person they knew from childhood but they had the responsibility of leadership and took that on themselves.
Part of the reason why Paul sent Rudeus to Roa is because of this reason, he knew that if he allowed him to, Rudeus would waste the talent of his magic remaining in Buena Village, he'd marry Sylphie and raise farmers in the community there. But he is a Greyrat and he has sublime skill with magic and is not horrible at the sword (he could be far better if he put more effort into his training) and as a Greyrat - even a disowned one - Paul knows that the best thing for Rudeus is to be separated from Sylphie for a time to learn how to be a Noble, because part of the whole deal is him being exposed to Noble lifestyle and culture, absorbing it and becoming a better person.
It doesn't SOUND fair to us, knowing what we know about Rudy and his feelings for Sylphie, but he might have to put his feelings aside for the betterment of his people. This is NOT a spoiler section so anyone who has read the Light Novels, don't spoil things for others.
Many people from different faiths like _Hinduism, Budhhism_ believes in _reincarnation_ and often in their communities there emerges one person in a million who claims to have memories from his past life. No matter what he claims, his age is calculated based on his current life both officially and spiritually. Age is calculated based on the time period of birth to the time of calculation. *Since Rudy was born, so technically Rudy is 10 years old and if you remember the first few episodes, Rudy mentioned that children's brain is amazing, he can learn many new things easily which he couldn't do in his former adult life, which indicates that Rudy's brain is also child's brain. It's just he have memories of past life and people gets confused by adult voiceover* .
Ok
Rudeus refers to his past life experience multiple times throughout the story. He even brings up his actual lived age (16 + 34, 50 years of life experience, at the time he said that). Rudeus is a p*dophile. He even refers to himself as one when he calls himself a lolicon for lusting after Julie. He had a brain of a child, but a mind of an adult. The lived experience of a 40+ year old adult. He was an adult in a childs body.
He still have his memories and experiences from his past live, so is not a restart from 0, his consciousness is of an adult thats why he later appear as an adult in his mind world, he doesn’t see himself as a kid again. Making it weird all the stuff he does to actual minors in the series.
@@Afrien_art Great! now everyone that claims to have reincarnated are all pedophiles and everyone that believes in reincarnation are all pedophiles
@@Afrien_art Yes, He lived to be an adult physically in his past life. That doesn't mean he was mentally one. He never left his room after being brutally bullied as a kid. His entire world view then came from novels and video games which the same type are avaiable to all of us today. Except he doesn't differentiate between his games and books and the real world after being reborn. It's why he constantly mentions in his mind about using those "dating sim" skills. He did it this very episode. He wasn't mature in his past life, why do people expect him to already have that maturity in this one? He has to learn and develop, which he never got the chance to previously. People assume pysical age = maturity, and that is wrong for almost all human beings. We all age and mature at different rates, and Rudy's was completely on hold for literal decades.
まさにそれは唐突に訪れる...予測可能な展開の始まりですね!
long journey is start now
Good discussion guys, I think at first same as Devi that Phillip and Hilda were awful parents. One for that proposal to Rudeus and the other for sending Eris to Rudeus bethroom. but then I realize, that they think Rudeus will be a fine husband in a few years to Eris, just by the facts that Rudeus was the only one to knew how to treat Eris, educate her, helping with her dance and breaking that barrier of angry, stubborn and spoiled girl. Plus they don't want marry her with some old dude in the main family, or worst just to be a concubine.
Philip has been sending letters to Paul for a few weeks already, saying Rudeus had agreed to marry Eris, so he was planning to use Rudeus as an excuse to stage a coup for a while
Hilda sent Eris to Rudeus room, because he is Eris' best chance at marriage, as she has been expelled from school due to beating the other kids, as well as beating her tutors, Philip had actually hired Rudeus without expecting him to be an effective tutor, but hoped having another kid around would motivate Eris
So both parents are very big into arranging the marriage, that goes a long way on lowering the ages involved
The floating magic ball has already been examinated by plenty of magicians hired by Sauros, but found nothing, so Sauros decided to hope it was not something bad as a way to ease his mind in front of something unknown
the goal post will just keep on moving. in korea you're not an adult until 20. in the next century, you won't be legally an adult until 40. ppl will be like 'ewww she's only 39! GTFO!'
Turning point give me nightmares
woww
Devi always "un-comfy" its always the case when i see couple reactions watching this show. But i get it, it's a very unique situation. The creators could've wrote it better , but probably chose not to.
React to "Returners Magic Should be Special" please
I really look forward to how you, Devi, will see Rudeus in the near future, especially with how open you seem to be. It's refreshing

The real comment is: would you like gluts like Ghislaine?
i still dont get why that servant wanted to get rid of rudeus?? can someone explain?
Perugius ordered Arumanfi to go down and kill anyone suspicious. Rudeus was attempting to cast Cumulonimbus, a Saint tier water spell that uses a lot of mana. So Arumanfi thought he was the cause of this event and attacked.
If you are talking about Almanfi attacking, it's becasue he was ordered to kill anyone suspicious on sight. Rudy is a spellcaster with a large amount of mana that he just gathered right next to the location where the disaster is about to take place. Almanfi reasonalby believed that killing Rudy could stop the spell that was about to take place.
The servant that kidnapped Eris and Rudeus? This wasn't said (and probably will never be adapted), but there's a noble interested in making Eris his plaything.
Because Rudeus was about to cast a spell the exact moment that thing started reacting, therefore he was suspicious that Rudeus may had been the cause of the anomaly. His orders were to kill anyone suspicious on the spot.
2:05 What? Even in our real world, learning languages is easier for children. 2 years of deliberate study, practice and hard work, and any child can learn 3 languages. How can you think that that's impossible?
Be carefull of turning points they change the direction of the stories in different ways, Turning point 1 is casting rudeus to an unfamiliar place
Boom!
