Brennan never meant for Ayda to be such a big NPC, but the bad kids and one in particular liked her so much that she became a bigger part. He thought they would meet this person in Leviathan, get some clues, and leave.
I wonder if that is why she had a posh British accent at first, and then that was quickly dropped.
I think the more likely story is Brennan forgot.
ayda is literally so important to me i love her so much and im so glad that she became such a big npc in the series !! and omg i forgot she had that british accent lol
@miafrancis69 He also never meant for her to be Autistic. He based her on Sherlock and a couple of friends he has who are just purely academic. The more he researched, the more he realized that Sherlock was extremely Autistically coded. That informed how he went further with her.
I have never related to an NPC he has played more. I have such a hard time in social situations. I can't read social cues or people's facial expressions, so to have someone like her makes me feel seen and ok. I'm 38, and I have never ever seen someone like her in media. I am not sure he realizes how important she is to people with ASD. Her and Liam made me feel ok with myself.
Yes, I forgot she had the accent too until I was watching the Ayda/Fig falling in love compilation.

This is a really great compilation! Also, even though I may have been rewatching the scene for *ahem* other reasons, I really love the weird shrimp party. It just reminds me of all of the fantastically weird parties I've been to where everyone is a bit tired and rather drunk (but also because I'm there and my ADHD leads to very fun random situations for everyone around me)
