my favorite part of gilear is how everything he does makes emily laugh so hard

13:32 The way Gilear just flat out tells Fabian to stfu and the following clip of him asking for Hallariel’s hand in marriage from her dad shows the one strength Gilear has. He’s so pathetic, he’s been at such a low point for so long, but it’s taught him what it’s like to be so low that he can recognize it in others. He can sense weakness, and knowing how easily pushed around he is he knows what he can get away with. The moment he sees someone getting anywhere near his level he pounces and it’s absolutely brutal. Is this manipulative and cruel and morally wrong? Yes. Does Gilear deserve it at this point? Also yes. Brennan is the god of his world and is actively trying to kill him and torment him whenever possible, he needs every win he can get.
I honestly read that part of Gilear as just pure desperation. I don't really consider it cruel, because he never really hurts anyone. Especially considering how awful they are to him.

See I saw this scene as Gilear living with a lot of high energy, incredibly powerful people who can and do frequently hurt him without any consequence. Fabian has like, ten times his hit points, how is pathetic little Gilear supposed to at all compare to the majasty of Halariel?
News flash, everyone gets sad and throws up. Her dad, her son, probably her devil husband (who i guess they’re still technically married?) are all pathetic too. You deserve Love, Gilear!

I can’t wait to experience more of Glamour Gilear, or Glamear if you will. We shall get our pathetic sad boy back soon, but experiencing what could have been is an honour in its own right.
I'll just say it: Gilear is the best character in all of fiction.

I have found out that he is the most graceless elf to ever be born, and I'm fairly convinced that the entire elven race became the elegant, ethereal beings they are by cursing THIS EXACT GUY to absorb all of their misfortune, bad days, flub ups, fumbles, and awkwardness.

@@Butterratbee I have since learned more about him, and bro has had dinner based on accidentally ordered garlic knots he found in the trash because he had no other food, and dies every other day. Chosen one he may be, but luck still abhors him with a laser guided passion. I find him hilarious conceptually but also feel intense pity for this poor poor man.

He also speaks in this accent/affect that’s not like high elf snotty formal he’s like this deep dreary formality And I want to know where he picked it up, because other wood elves at least from Silvare don’t have it. and he’s like so clear and says exactly what’s going on and it makes no difference I am so fascinated by him. It’s taking him that long to eat one (admittedly large) nut? His panic and what he did was so strange they believed he may have been casting a complex spell. Up top. He thinks someone has spiked his stew with drugs. It’s just the first food he’s eaten that’s not dairy based in 30 years. They get it, they both get it, they’re the throwup boys! Isn't it stated sometime that Gilear used to work as a diplomat? Which would explain both his calmness, formality, and verbal capacity. With better charisma he'd be a great speaker.
