You can actually go down that mineshaft elevator during the aurora, and it is ABSOLUTELY as horrifying as you'd expect, but theres typically a rifle down there
@@zayder2479 That used to NOT be the case, a let's player, MyUsualMe, got stuck there and spent days passing time, until he got cabin fever, was not able to sleep indoors, and therefore not able to recover health, and then he died. He still refuses to go down there.
The elevator in the Coastal Highway mine does work during the aurora. It is actually smart to go down there and wait for the aurora to end, then explore when the wires aren't live and the water isn't electrified. The game will give you an aurora the next night so you can't be trapped for long.
Believe me or not, the flare gun is the most powerful weapon in this game. Has numerous encounters with bears and moose and it never fails to save my ass. The caveat: You need to pull off the shot at point blank range.
Looks like base customization isn't in the challenge modes. But in survival mode you can hit "y"(on pc) on your keyboard and move stuff around. Also yes, the elevator in the mine DOES work. But only during an aurora. Best advice is to bring plenty of food before going down. But you can find a lot of rare stuff down there.
if i remember correctly, the mine has a guaranteed rifle spawn, though it's been so long since i've been inside i cannot verify it's still there. (Edit: the game will not let you get trapped in the mine. there will always be a scripted aurora every other night while you're down there, so you'll never be trapped for more than a day or so.)
@@problematicnapalm7822it used to be guaranteed, it no longer is. There's not even a guarantee that a rifle will spawn in any/every region anymore. At least the regions with unique rifles will always have at least one Also, your only guaranteed aurora after entering the mine is scripted for ONLY the following day from when you enter. If you somehow miss that one, it could be days or weeks before the next one.
if you crouch to go down hills, you wont sprain your ankle. it works with anything that isn't 90 degrees and even then it can help you with a small fall
I've found that the flare gun is a surprisingly good weapon. Plentiful ammo, decently common, and can kill pretty much any animal as long as you get a headshot.
23:00 you can in fact use the elevator in the mine when it's powered and you should be concerned about getting trapped down there and dying in darkness. Speaking from experience
Try walking along the ice's edge on the islands of Coastal Highway after a blizzard. I heard a hatchet and arrow barge collided and occasionally things wash up.
22:58 the elevator does work! It’s a bit of a ‘secret area’ that usually had good loot (incl. a rifle often). It is however scripted that the aurora will return 1-2 days later, so you need to bring food with you just in case
you can find a hatchet on a frozen body by the side of the road, or sometimes in Quonset behind something. You can find a rifle in one or two of the fishing huts, and on a couple dead bodies in the entire region, one besides the Misanthropes Homestead. you can find a revolver in quite a few places all across the ice lake, look under the bed at Jackrabbit Island as u can also find a nice coat down there
I've had one Five-Hour Energy, and it was the worst thing I'd ever done. I could FEEL my heart jackhammering in my chest, my face flushed to the point I was sweating (in the middle of winter on a mountaintop) and I could barely breathe. Within the first five minutes of downing one. I jammed three fingers down my throat and forced myself to throw that shit up and never ever EVER touched them again.
6:55 So Zach is describing the cougar stalkings in a way that genuinely reminds me of the weirdo(affectionate) friends i have in the furry community. Being literally stalked by a cougar, when it's just a game, is. I know a few folks who would wanna play the deer. zach's description of the horror feels like the reverse of that, and that's genuinely kinda interesting
While I do plan to watch this later.. I'm already just anticipating whats going to go on knowing you two. "Where's the Gosh Darn weapons?" ".. Aside from the ones at my store, my personal storage locker.... not sure." Looking forward to watching later!
If yall have the dlc Vaughan rifle spawns in the Carter hydro dam on the lower levels or in the connector region to pleasant valley in a non loading screen cave
playing my survival save while watching i can confidently say if you see a cougar ingame, dont try to hunt that thing under any condition. those things can take up to 4 rifle rounds to the FACE and then tore me to shreds :(
Seems like a location issue. Can you lure it to the farmhouse in pleasant valley? Shoot it from the screened in porch where animals can't enter? I do most of my hunting that way while I'm in PV so I don't have to travel too far with a bunch of meat
I found a Lee field in a pawn shop yesterday. And it’s my job to buy it and butcher it drill and tapping a Amazon bought inferred scope and sanding down the dried blood from the stock removing the fixed magazine and making it a single round bolt action. Change my mind
Favorite reigon eh? Mine is probably mystery lake... i do need to be familiar with more reigons though. (What do ya mean ive been following this game since the begining and still only know like 4ish maps well) Coastal highway is pretty nice i do enjoy its design. My least favorite is Pleasent Valley.
Your least favorite is PV? How come? It's been my favorite since I found the farmhouse. 6 burner stove, lots of storage space, and a nice wide open area all around it to make hunting and not being hunted easy. If course, the blizzards there have killed my longest running characters because I start to get cold and think "I know this region, I'll just take a shortcut" and it's a nose dive from there. Stick to the roads and rivers lol
@TheRealAaronSmith yeah the farmhouse is nice, i really like the Barn. But man the blizards and weather make it unpleasent valley for me. XD i think its also because it feels so empty? makes sense for the region but yeah. I dont hate hate it just my least favorite XD.
@@Brenilla I mean that's a fair take 😂 I kinda forced myself to like it because of all the high quality clothing there, there used to be 2 prepper stash bunkers(one abandoned, one still full), and it's a good spot to get to BlackRock for gunsmithing, Coastal Highway for beach combing(and now trading as well). But yeah, the regular blizzards can be a bit much!
Yay! This is the video equivalent of keep opening the fridge until a new food appears
Oh how accurate this comment is 😂
You can actually go down that mineshaft elevator during the aurora, and it is ABSOLUTELY as horrifying as you'd expect, but theres typically a rifle down there
If you get stuck an aurora is coded to happen a night or two later so as long as you have wood you should be fine.
@@zayder2479Is it horrifying as you could get stuck?

10:51 very odd none of the Cougars I've ever met had a gag reflex lol.
Heyoooooo!
Those are the Cougars that have been gagged before and built up a tolerance 😂
Fun Fact: Cats are actually known as ambush predators. Very effective ones, at that.

I never thought of doing it that way
Hi Mike and zach I've been watching Ur videos since before hope still had skin, it's amazing seeing how far this channel has become
Believe me or not, the flare gun is the most powerful weapon in this game. Has numerous encounters with bears and moose and it never fails to save my ass. The caveat: You need to pull off the shot at point blank range.
A 4TH LONG DARK VIDEO IN ONLY FOUR DAYS, THIS IS THE BEST DAY EVER!!!!!!!!
On ja

SEVERAL TLD VIDEOS? THIS IS THE BEST CHRISTMAS PRESENT EVER

God I wish a Cougar would suddenly get closer to me when I wasn't looking...
-Same honestly-

Any game where you two can commentate/banter together in is a treat!
Ive been here since y'all went to repcon with the teddy bear and found the party hats, and im glad i could watch yall thus far!
Try walking along the ice's edge on the islands of Coastal Highway after a blizzard. I heard a hatchet and arrow barge collided and occasionally things wash up.
Fun fact that Point Blank Range of flare gun kills everything in this game
A few years ago loot tables got rebalanced and rifles are much, much more rare now. There SHOULD be one in Coastal Highway though.
Coastal Highway is completely underrated, by far top 5 Halo missions

The amount of the long dark you guys are putting out is insane
Oh no it's a bear absolutely loves Pepsi fire
The Elevator does work during the Aroura, and yes you can get stuck.
Why yes I am also playing the long dark as I watch this
I've had one Five-Hour Energy, and it was the worst thing I'd ever done.

32:13 That's a Fallout 3 reference
I love the long dark videos

You spoil us mike
🔥🔥🔥
10:50
you could alway try the Mountainman strategy.
'you think I food?! No. You Food!'
Happy New Mike And Zach everyone!!!!!
The mine shaft is NOT a cave, by the way.
Caves are natural formations.
"This cave is not a natural formation..."

23:00 you can use the elevator during the lights and find gear
Cougars are weeping angels, understood
all i can think now is DO NOT FIST THE COUGAR
If yall have the dlc Vaughan rifle spawns in the Carter hydro dam on the lower levels or in the connector region to pleasant valley in a non loading screen cave
I don't usually do this. But first
Also nothing better than Mike and Zach while making food
Got into pokemon collecting again recently and am adoring the art on the cards.
Ughh work. Thanks for the pre work entertainment guys
I wanna be stalked by a cougar. Anything is better than Tindr man
All cats are ambush predators.
I totally thought that was a fallout 3 reference until you said new vegas...
gonnha play this when i get home. least on my down time i can watch this
oh my goodness, you spoiling us with these
Downloaded the game. Such a good game not easy at all but still relaxing to play.
Did this game mode once, so many rifles.. Like every potential spot had one... But no knives. None.
yall are actually spoiling us with all this long dark content 😂
Where can i find these cougar videos Zach mentioned?
I went looking and found a different kind of cougar.
Still very informative.

Let it be known that I enjoy the morshu references 🤝
I feel like these videos should be an hour long. Each time they end it feels like it got cut off prematurely.
I wanna see you guys attempt the challenges where your getting hunted by a bear
Damn we getting spoiled
Fionna and Cake is not a kids show at all. It's a young adults show that is on Max or Netflix (I think)
Oh boy. Trying to find weapons....sometimes you get lucky on easier difficulties and other times you get screwed. Sounds like fun 😂
If I'm not mistaken, the challenges are technically set to stalker difficulty
Is this gonna be a everyday till the new year then you can put 2025 in the title?
Not mango loco monster?
I was watching your video and decided to head to the firewall tower to and ended up getting jumped by an aurora bear and wolf💀
I found a Lee field in a pawn shop yesterday. And it’s my job to buy it and butcher it drill and tapping a Amazon bought inferred scope and sanding down the dried blood from the stock removing the fixed magazine and making it a single round bolt action. Change my mind
This is pretty sick ❤

OH FUGGGGG A GOUGAR :DDD
So what I'm hearing I'd don't buy crypto buy a hatchet instead
I bought two hatchets, and I still have them. The same can't be said about most people who bought crypto.
I love the long dark
Still waiting on the next FOLON video…
Where hatchet?
Where rifle
👍cool vid
You should try project Zomboid
obligatory engagement comment
