  • This is exactly how to bench bleed a brake master cylinder. Purging your brake master cylinder is a vital step to installing any master cylinder on any automobile. If you don't follow these steps it is very likely that your brakes will not function when you put everything back together.
    If your vehicle is equipped with ABS you might need to do an ABS purge on top of this which I will be doing a video on that very soon.

    I leave the tubes on, tape them to the cover and install the master, then remove each fitting one at a time to minimize the mess.

    You start from the back passinger line, the move to the left rear. Moving to the right front and moving to front driver. That is why they put bleeder vavles on each brake.

      Actually, the front half and back half of that brake system are totally separate systems, it doesn't make any difference what order you bleed these brakes. Just repeat bleeding from side to side and one wheel at a time.

    I have a question and super great video by the way, i have a master cylinder that has your normal 2 ports like any other one HOWEVER it has a 3rd port on the bottom,i believe this port has nothing to do with the dual plungers inside the master cylinder,its just a outlet port that goes to the driver side caliper, whats the procedure then to bench bleed this? cap that port solid or install a third fitting and a third hose? thank you for your time and input!

    Could you plug the ends where the tubes are if you were doing the bench bleed somewhere else?

    You can compress a fluid but not necessarily a liquid. Air is a fluid.

    Thanks. So I’ve had to replace whole abs system, all 4 calipers. After have done caliper bleed and have no bubbles in brake lines. But when engine is on brake goes to floor vs. off I have firm pedal. Can air go in master cylinder if all 4 calipers replaced and abs? Also after bench bleed guessing air would re-enter lines again since I’ve bled it?

    • @chadwickwicky67
      @chadwickwicky67 Год назад

      You probably need to bleed the abs unit. You can do it with a scanner that offers abs bleeding function to pump air out of the abs unit

    All you have to do is rinse or spray water on the painted surface anytime you think you got fluid on it. The fluid will absorb the moisture and be neutralized

    After bench bleeding the MC and disconnecting the plastic fittings/tubing from it to install it back on the car, how do I make sure no air goes back in it through the ports the plastic fitting were on before?? Common sense would tell me the own fluid weight will prevent air from coming in, but just wanted to make sure.

    Why not just install the master cylinder and put brake fluid in it and start pumping the air that cant be compressed will rise to the top of the master cylinder .

    When your gravity bleeding wheel cylinders, you don't need to put a tube on or put it down in a bottle with more oil It's not going to make a difference as long as you make sure nobody pushes the brake pedal when you're doing this, That's how I always do mine and never had an issue.
    When your bench bleeding I don't understand why they don't let some oil gravity feed out the two tubes before you stick them down in the reservoir. Looks like that would bleed it a lot faster.
