interesting suggestion. I know the root cause of phantom braking. I noticed that it only occurs with cruise control on (not sure if it only happens with AutoPilot). When phantom braking happens, the "MAX" speed number is changed automatically, which causes the car to slow down rapidly. Why does the "MAX" speed change? Tesla uses a GPS Data service to determine the maxspeed for road you are traveling. From my experience it is usually a highway offramp. GPS positioning data may have you located in the exit lane instead of the highway and the car slams the brakes (thinking you are on the offramp). I have never experienced phantom braking unless using cruise control so it is not a hardware issue.
This is a great suggestion to try. Thanks for sharing!
You are so welcome!

That’s an interesting theory that may be true. However, I’ve seen videos of phantom breaking where these factors do not appear to be in play.
so far so good
