    To be more specific about the INS change : WP00 is uneditable and is always the current position (by the INS point of view). When doing the alignment what you are truly doing by pressing VAL is telling the INS "you see this WP20 ? Okay, now it's our current position, align yourself to it". But it's not forced to be WP20 !! It's just that we will never use WP20 so it's convenient.
    One could use WP01 and do the alignment ... But you would have edited your wp for you flight.

    For those wondering how one would setup synthetic runway in the plane without having preconfigured a waypoint in the mission editor :
    You need to set your ILS frequency to the right one, also having your altimeter to the right pressure is nice because that's what's used for this.
    Now select a random new waypoint with the "PREP" button on the PCN (PREP=>enter WP number). Let's say you have 3 preconfigured waypoints so we choose arbitrarly WP09 which will be "blank".
    You then need to set the INS mode to "CP/PD" (cap désiré/pente désirée = desired heading and glideslope I believe)
    You will then enter "CP" with the "left +" on the PCN numpad. Enter the runway heading.
    Then "PD" with the "right +" on the PCN numpad. Enter 03.0 (I've read this value on the forum, I don't have more informations)
    Now select WP09 as your dest. You don't need to tell the ISN the coordinates of the runway, it worked as it for me :)

    (New Callsign) spotted! I just think it's funny how literally most of the DCS community never set up their virtual pilot in the logbook menu :)
    4:41 Here's actually the main change. You don't need that waypoint from the ME anymore, it now also works for waypoints set during the mission (haven't tried without any yet)! Instead you just need your ILS frequency set and the runway data entered to the PCN with the knob set to CP/PD (french abbreviation for Runway Heading / Glide Slope). Enter the RWY HDG (get from the map with the ruler, no magnetic correction, just the readout; or take the value from the ILS cones in the ME) to the left box and the glideslope angle to the right one.
    6:13 I'll just grab it from the manual:
    a. The INS is on.
    b. The airport is the current fly-to waypoint.
    c. The runway data (heading and glideslope) were entered2.
    d. Both localizer and glideslope have been captured
    e. The runway is less than 10 nautical miles away.
    f. Lateral deviation is less than 7º.
    8:06 The thing gets tons of drag at desired AoA, so it's better to keep them in (not sure if this would be the real procedure though) and you almost need somewhere around 50% of throttle lever there. Plus, when you touch down, deploy the air brakes then. Since they're on the wings, they also act as spoilers, so deploying them immediately kills some lift (at least it should), so the thing stays down on the runway nicely. Just as a re-Cap for the AoA, you'd ideally want to see the symbology in a line like this as much as possible: >] -o- [<
    8:37 Just stretch your neck some :D - or RShift+RCtrl+NP8.

    • @SFDPSFDP

      @@fastfed It is not useless because even though you cannot BVR with it against the more modern/newer aircrafts you can still use the terrain to hide and once the enemy is within 20nm, you have a fighting chance with 530Ds who can sometimes even reacquire a radar contact temporarily lost, and the Magic IR missile are very good on par with Aim9x and with decent range. You have the speed and agility to do well in combat within 15-20nm into a merge and a rwr that lets u know about incoming fox2s which is valuable. You also have access to GCI to have more SA since you do not have datalink. But yes hopefully Razbam will go ahead with the Mirage -5 and one day we will get the MICA fox3 missiles which would make the Mirage competitive with the current modules in BVR.

    • @grimreapers

      I used a LANDING waypoint from mission editor. It does al the work for you

    • @CakePrincessCelestia
      @CakePrincessCelestia 3 года назад

      I think it's automatically in there correctly with a landing waypoint from the ME. But you can divert and then you'd have to enter those manually. Or if you just place the plane on the tarmac without having any followup waypoints at all, then they're zeroed as well and need to be entered. Not sure if you'd actually need a landing waypoint anymore at all, the manual isn't updated and it still says you would.

    • @CakePrincessCelestia
      @CakePrincessCelestia 3 года назад

      I just checked, no waypoint needed for landing anymore. The landing waypoint just conveniently brings the CP/PD values unless you hack it in from inside the cockpit. All you need is the CP/PD values and ILS frequency now which is absolutely great if you have to divert, ideally to something that has at least a TACAN station as well. Wrote more details on this in my other comment :)

    I’ve been using WP01 rather than 20, and I’ve also been doing a much shorter alignment by setting the dial to a different setting than ALN, but I can’t remember what it’s called because I still have the cockpit in French.
