*In mGauds' Voice* You MIGHT not be able to deforest all the GREENERY in Pelican town now, but fear not, you can STILL put tappers on those trees for sweet, STICKY, syrup!
the dehydrator tears thru your stockpile of raw veggies/fruits much faster than kegs or perserves. It only takes 1 day but 5 of the item you are going to dehydrate and the next day you get super expensive artisan quality goodies to sell. I use it for blueberries, ancient fruit, starfruit, any tree fruits and any veggie I can dehydrate that isn't already getting used by my kegs or perserve jars. I have so many raw fruits/veggies by the end of the season that I just sell it instead of making more money and processing them into a more profitable item.
@ are there any vegetables you can dehydrate? I thought it was only fruits and mushrooms. Ancient fruit and starfruit are my favorites and I’m working on getting a consistent supply, but I’ll throw anything in my dehydrators if I have enough since it’s so fast and more profitable. I usually have my preserve jars going with roe anyway. While my fruit trees were working up to iridium quality, I would put whatever I could of the lower quality fruits in the dehydrator and use the leftovers for wine and jelly just to use it up and get the extra money. I don’t sell all of my crops though, only the silver and gold quality (except for a few crops) and I keep the rest for processing, cooking, and quests. Nothing worse than someone needing something and not having it lol
My greenhouse is full of star fruit with seed makers to replenish. 5 star fruit in a dehydrator yields 7910G. I have dozens of dehydrators I harvest daily.
So the use of the dehydrator is that it only takes one day to work and does make more money than selling 5 basic or silver quality fruit/mushroom though less than pickling or making wine, but logistically with Legend fish roe and starfruit wine you don't have the spare kegs or preserve jars to turn dozens of less valuable items into pickles/wine, take for example blueberries, if you have like 150 basic quality blueberries turning all of them into wine will take ages and require a lot of kegs which would be better used with ancient fruit or starfruit so instead use dehydrators as while it's technically less profit overall, it's a lot faster and still increases the sell price of the blueberries compared to selling them as is. TL;DR dehydrators are best used with excess low quality fruits and mushrooms to make money from them faster than pickling and you're better off using your preserves jars to age legendary fish roe instead of basic mushrooms
I used ancient fruit in the dehydrators because I harvest hundreds of star fruit on ginger island. And then I use mushrooms/fruit from trees/whatever I grew 100+ of on my main farm (melons, blueberries, etc)
I think I found the perfect source of excess low quality fruit, that doesn't involve deliberately sabotaging yourself by planting blueberries instead of starfruit. Powdermelons. Normally, you can get 3 harvests of Powdermelons in winter. 4 with Speed-Gro, 5 with Deluxe Speed-Gro, and 6 with Hyper Speed-Gro. However, if you use Hyper Speed-Gro and also have the Agriculturalist profession, only costs 20k gold to switch from and back to Artisan, you get a whopping 9 harvests in one season. That 10% growing time boost results in a 50% increase in profit. Combine that with the potential for giant crops, which turns 9 melons into around 25 with a shaving axe, and you'll end up with loads of low quality fruit to process, and since it's winter, it's not like you have many other options to use on your main farm. Just wild seeds and fiber seeds. Speaking of fiber seeds, here's the best part of this setup. After you harvest the last batch of powdermelons on winter 28, you can plant a field of fiber seeds, which when combined with Hyper Speed-Gro, will be ready on Thursday, Spring 4, preserving your field of fertilizer between seasons. It might sound bad, losing 3 days of Spring, but get this, if you plant rhubarb on Spring 4 with Hyper Speed-Gro, you will still get the maximum 3 harvests, with the last harvest on Spring 28. Now it gets interesting, you can do the exact same thing again from Spring to Summer using Starfruit, since it has the same growing time as rhubarb, and you'll get all 3 starfruit harvests by the 28th. Fall makes it a little more tricky, because you want to plant powdermelons on Winter 1 to get the full 9 harvests, so what you can do is plant wheat instead of fiber seeds on Summer 28, which will be ready on Tuesday Fall 2 instead of Thursday Fall 4, which means you can plant a full field of pumpkins and get the full three harvests by Friday, Fall 26. Now, if you make sure to equip Agriculturalist before this day, you can plant fiber seeds and have them ready on Monday, Winter 1, just in time to start the cycle all over again with 9 harvests of powdermelons, keeping the Hyper Speed-Gro the entire year round, only having to fill in a couple tiles under giant crops every now and then. I started using this yearly cycle and it's been incredible. The biggest issue with it is that it ends up with a mountain of powdermelons to deal with. A lot can just be used in seedmakers so I don't have to grind a billion pinecones, the gold ones make a pretty good food source, but the rest? Straight into the dehydrator. Easiest way to process a mountain of low quality fruit. Anyway don't use regrowing crops like blueberries or cranberries, they are overrated.
@Khaizen10 No but you do put it in preserves jars meaning your better off saving your preserves jars for roe instead of random fruit and mushrooms, sure turning 5 common mushrooms into pickles is more profitable than drying them but that means 5 less legendary fish roe aging in preserves jars, see what I mean?
You can dupe stuff if you have multiplayer. Including prize tickets, prismatic shards, ore, and smelted bars. Basically anything you can put on a table.

Oh no it won't; the desert festival sort of... replaces the desert map and enhances it. Things will disappear, but when the festival is done everything goes back to normal, at least for me anyway. :)
Yeah, as the person before me said it won't effect it. Think of it like the beach during the winter festival, the map is just replaced and none of your crab pots are removed, just temporarily inexcusable
@@mrduped6506 I personally use crandberrys and dehydrate them because you get a lot form the plants and you get 821g for one jar of dried cranberries

You can put fruits in the dehydrator too and in my experience, dried fruits are more expensive than jellies. The cost of needing 5 isn’t too bad imo
