pure bad luck i say, maybe it was only circulated in certaIn areas of the population , i.e the wealthy . the key thing I got was anything worth knowing is hidden in a book and usually by the elites!
The book this based upon is “the little white horse” by Elizabeth Gouge. It was one of my favourite books as a child. This film bears only a vague resemblance to the book’s story which is sad as the book is far superior. Basically it’s an absolutely horrible adaptation
@@Thepateisgreat I think there are more characters and the entire village is shrouded in fantasy, not just the Merryweather estate. From what I’ve garnered, the movie focuses far too much on the romance storyline when Maria does a lot more than that and has many little adventures. The author also has a beautiful descriptive tone, which most fantasy writers do, but hers is just perfect for a novel with a children audience. Light and airy, with focus in all the right places. I only read a few minutes of it though but I do recommend it.
The characters in the book are very different to the film. Sir Benjamin, Maria’s guardian is a hale and hearty gentleman, full of bonhomie. Robin is Maria’s imaginary friend come to life and he’s the son of Loveday Minette, the widow of the town lawyer. Robin and Maria have adventures together culminating in a major confrontation with Monsieur Cocque Noire and his black hearted men. There is a mystery about the estate involving both families that Maria and Robin sort out with help from Rolf the big dog/lion and the little white horse/unicorn and lots of input from the other characters but it’s definitely not how it’s portrayed in the film. I was so disappointed in how the film interpreted the book. I first read the book when I was 8 and I’m in my sixties now. I have read and re read the book countless times and felt very let down by the film
Am I the only one who actually likes the movie more for once? Like, the book is cute and all, but it wouldn't have made a great movie if the adaptation was literal. Plus, I don't think today's public would have liked the christian morals showed down their throats like in the book. I sure wouldn't, even in some scenes in the books I was tempted to bang my head into a wall😅
I'm kinda curious about what would happen if the curse wasn't broken. Moonacre would be plunged into darkness but does that mean like eternal night or is it a metaphor for chaos? And would the Merryweather's and De Noir's br trapped in Moonacre unable to escape?
I liked what I was watching so much, I stopped watching it to give a thumbs up, then purchased it on Amazon for $3.99 HD. Not a rental, but digital purchase. My kids loved the movie too.
I read a story very similar to this, from dads library. An old book with fragile pages. It had other stories. I wish I had his books, some history and spelling books from 1839 & 1847.

That was me 3 months ago, the only thing I remembered was that it had something in its name about moon and trees. I had to search for multiple descriptions of the movie to find it and I did.
@@kim-oridale3851 yes!! The only thing I remembered was the dog and the bedroom. I was so happy finding it because it was my favourite movie when I was younger
Same saw this when I was younger I still remember it today lol

I absolutely love this movie! It has been a long time favorite ❤️
Wow very inspiring... reminding a very important values in Life ... swallowing one's pride and let love reigns ❤️
All I know is I want a room like that, with my own fireplace. That girl is one lucky introvert lol
They don't make em movies like this anymore.
What's in the mirror isn't a scary monster though. It's literally only a dark lion.
With glowing red eyes, pretty scary.
I absolutely LOVED this movie as a child. I still think about that bedroom as my ideal room to this day... Probably a big reason I turned out to be an INFP lmao.
*Before you think this recap is enough for you,* There are many *MANY* parts of the movie Fox Recaps didn't show that are absolutely fascinating and gorgeous.
Her dresses are so magical. Idk what’s going on in the back of her skirts but it’s cool

Great. My first time seeing a movie recap. Did a great job. Thanks for sharing. StayWell
I love the dog dying scene. The dog is like "Alright better gently lay down, wait my lips are dry better take care of that, okay now I can die I'm such a good dog"
Really nice!
#GodblessNigeria
That was really touching...thanks!
The movie is so cheesy but to think we have not had such movie lately, it's kinda nice to enjoy something like this again. :')
Movie name : The secret of Moonacre

I’d watch this movie on repeat when I was younger, so many good memories ♡
Straight up I've been half planning on watching this movie for forever and never have. I'm so glad I found this and I might actually watch the movie now
Is that Lyra? Man, I wish they'd made more His Dark Materials movies.
Yes, it’s Lyra. I wish they’d made the rest of the books into films too. The BBC recently made a series a couple of years ago but it was all wrong, not like the books and out of sequence too 🙄
Natures daughter would be black and so would Mother Nature. The real woman of the earth.
When u support someone from start and than u see him on this stage. Really feeling proud of u bro.

I cant believe this is the movie i so desperately tried to remember and look for since 2018, i typed all the description that i thought match. But it didn't work, and now few years later youtube recommended this video..cant believe im so overjoyed for this. Literally made my day.
This movie has everything I loved as a child. Why am I only finding out about it now?
pure bad luck i say, maybe it was only circulated in certaIn areas of the population , i.e the wealthy . the key thing I got was anything worth knowing is hidden in a book and usually by the elites!
Great synopsis!!!!! Luv it
I read the book when I was a kid. Still hoping there could be a TV series on it.
This movie was great! Haven't watch it in years though... Dakota was stunning in it
YOU MONSTERS why………….. WHY WOULD YOU UNALIVE A POOR DOG
The black dog as a lion that was so cool. Loved it.
The book this based upon is “the little white horse” by Elizabeth Gouge. It was one of my favourite books as a child. This film bears only a vague resemblance to the book’s story which is sad as the book is far superior. Basically it’s an absolutely horrible adaptation
The costume and set look lovely though. But the book does sound far better!
What happens in the book that makes it better/ so sad? ☺️ genuinely curious.
I knew this was a book adaption
What a beautiful story.Wud Love to see the 🎥.😊❤️🦁🦄👸🐇🐕
I'm kinda curious about what would happen if the curse wasn't broken.
I never knew a falcon is also called an eagle 🤣
A dog that looks like a cat in the mirror
AH MOONACRE! One of my favourite childhood movies. I watched it twice recently. It was brilliant.
I read a story very similar to this, from dads library. An old book with fragile pages. It had other stories. I wish I had his books, some history and spelling books from 1839 & 1847.
