Wish you guys would be more honest and talk about how poor it performs off road. Hummer name, full "lockers" and $120K this thing should be amazing off road.
I don't understand why a locker (even if virtual) is needed at all for something like this. If you have independent motors for every axle then you can already drive every axle in default mode. You can also tie the motor speed to steer angle very easily to not only allow differential motion, but to offer perfect differential motion. Imagine being locked thru a turn without forced binding or slip, but every tire still providing full torque. Seems like this would be easier than trying to mimic a real differential by having one motor cut out when the other motor loses torque, and then adding an additional mode to "lock" them together.
That would take programming skill, something which also lacks in Tesla and Rivian. Meanwhile, other manufacturers like Porsche have highly effective torque vectoring thru their e-diffs (which is at least in the same ballpark). Guess it comes down to how much money manufacturers are willing to invest in software development... And expectations for the owner being a beta-tester.
My neighbor had his SUV version of this parked on the street for a few weeks while his driveway was getting redone and every time I walked the dog by it, my main impression was that is was just huge - and that was with it looking like it was sitting on its bump stops. Except it did everything they tried except the ice, and that was a tire issue. If all four wheels are spinning, then there is nothing the vehicle could do about that. As they stated, nothing but studded tires would have changed the outcome.
@@TroySavary The rear virtual locker doesn't lock both wheels as you see in the video. It doesn't split the torque 50/50 between the front and rear axle, just look when they tried razer rocks. I would probably choose the two motor version to get two physical lockers, since the track performance benefits of tri motor torque vectoring and the faster 1/4 from the extra power would not matter to me in a vehicle like this.
@@TroySavary I still haven't seen a rivian that can power all 4 wheels at the exact same speed in different obstacles. Don't think that's going to happen when you have 3/4 motors. Also, the 100% throttle thing is not acceptable, it plays with your mind making you insecure. It has to be consistent.
It looked like the rear locker didnt work until you were in terrain mode. Then the front really added nothing once it was locked, you were driving right through with just the rear.

So before I even watch the video I would assume a 10,000 pound vehicle is really not good off road! LOL
Lmao.😂😂😂😂😂. EV trucks can’t tow anything , or 4 wheel in the snow, or 4 wheel anywhere. Biggest scam in the industry.
New vehicle computers killing power is just why I can’t wheel this new stuff. 1,000 horsepower , Tommy saying he’s wide open throttle and the tires spinning at 2mph. Come on, that’s just silly.
I'm definitely disappointed with you guys!! how you guys down play how awful that thing is!! Putting on all the lockers to do very basic off-road stuff ?? Really ?? Now I feel like you guys only trying to sell some Hummers
Nothing more than a joke, an extremely overpriced, not practical joke.
I don't understand how at full throttle the front wheels are not even trying to turn.
“Virtual locker”…LOL!!!
By the way, no spare tire for 120k?
9,000 lb curb weight??
Actually it won’t really matter, at that price point the only people that will drive these things are professional athletes and the celebrity elite. 99% of these ridiculous “trucks” will never drop a wheel off road anyway.
What an expensive piece of garbage
So why does the ford bronco engage lockers instantly then?
I always that it was 'up down up down A B B A 'srart' to get it to work, or was it just A B B A
If the body was on a GM HD truck frame it would be awesome. EV is stupid for its size.
BWAAAAHAHAHAAA! How **awful** can an off road vehicle be when you have to call the manufacturer to figure out how to drive it off road?!?!?! 😅😂🤣
How to take the fun out of off-roading.
I would love to say that this is just over complicated crap, but even my power wagon doesn't like to lock the front when you want it. At least I can buy a bypass to give me complete control of the lockers and sway bar in the power wagon
The lockers in my 20yr old Land Rover are immediate with a push of button. This over complication of basic systems is unnecessary
