  • Shoulder pain is a fact of life for many people, especially those who spend a lot of time sitting at a desk or driving. Corrective exercise expert Justin Price explains how to perform self-myofascial release techniques that will help increase range of motion and mobility around the shoulder joint and, ultimately, reduce pain.

I've been battling this for years and the test at the beginning finally made it clear. Working on my biceps and forearms (whatever felt tight when turning with shoulder fixed) freed the muscles/facia up enough I could finally rotate my arm a bit which generated lots of pops and crunching sounds in my shoulder joint as the humerus was free to rotate in its socket after being frozen in place. I've spent an enormous amount of time on the web and youtube trying to figure this out before coming across this. My shoulder was so out of position, I couldn't turn my neck. I was turning my torso left (towards bad shoulder) and leaning my elbow on the arm rest (now I know to prevent internal rotation) just to work at the computer. The role of the arms (including down to the forearm??!!!) in neck and shoulder issues seems really underappreciated.

That use of the tennis ball on the front head of the shoulder was a game changer. I can't believe how tight/sore that area is. It loosened up quite ready even with just some self massage.

During the myofascial release I noticed the client is static in the video, just finding the hot spot and keeping pressure.. Is this how you perform the exercise? I always have my client move the ball on and around the hot spot.. just wondering? Great video!!

This was an excellent video. However, the subject is also creating a lot of tension in his legs and upper torso. Almost certainly this is because he lifts weights and generates a lot of tension in his legs and lower back. While the procedures given are very good, unless attention is given to his legs and back the shoulders will remain fixed because of the muscular pulls further down. No body area works in isolation. Too much muscular effort in one area will always affect other areas. But top marks for this video. 👍

I feel the tennis ball is too intense. There is Yamuna Body Rolling which is a systematic form of myofascia release that she introduced to instructors 20 or more years ago. The YBR Bodyrolling balls are more effective.

My lover suffer from discomfort on his leg, neck and back. Thanks to this back pain guidebook called Kenzano Ayb (Go ogle it), he been able to take care of those issues. According to him, he is able to now have enough sleep because the back discomfort as well as the other aches are gone.
