- ■ OAXACA, MEXICO: Oaxaca is a shopper's paradise! There are markets and street vendors everywhere. Most of the stores are also really unique with local crafts and products you won't find in malls or abroad. I was tempted to do a shopping video just going to fixed price shops. However that would mean I'd be missing out on the Mexican bargaining experience.
Nothing beats a good old fashioned market bargaining experience as far as I am concerned. So I decided to go to Oaxaca's Benito Juarez market in the centre of town. (not to be confused with the tyrannical 21st November food market which have mask tyrants at every entrance and don't let free people in... but I digress).
At the Benito Juarez market I had a pretty simple plan. Fill up my shopping bag with goodies... then find a deserving local to give it to.
That however proved somewhat more difficult than initially anticipated...

350 is an outrage. It is actually between 50-100 and if you pay so much the next foreigner will be asked to pay the same. Sometimes you must walk away to let them know that is outrageous. Love your videos Harald been with you since beginning ❤️

I traveled all over Mexico. People from Oaxaca are traditionally shy. You did great 👍. Do not expect extroverts around town. They've still very nice and warm hosts
Kinda thought they are unfriendly but looking at your point it makes more sense they are shy, true.
@@CoD6PwnD they’re the more indigenous people in Mexico so they have that stern indigenous vibe. They live in mountains mostly so not so city like.

Mole con pollo is one of the famous traditional dishes of oaxaca. Its a thick dark spicy sauce served on chicken with rice and beans. The flavor is very complex, so its hard to describe but you definatly have to try it! Also tlyuda is another traditional dish that you should try in my opinion. I think I can speak for everybody when I say we sre really happy to have you back harald. 😊
Mole is a type of curry made with peanut butter and chocolate and various types of spices and chilies. It’s a very typical dish in Mexico and is delicious
@@Hmfirestormz That's true I suppose! I never really thought of it as a curry because here in canada when we say curry we automatically think of indian curry. I always considered mole to be a very complex sauce, and even mexicans themselves don't call it a "curry". but that doesn't mean it's not technically a curry.
@heartsnob yea but they are not as popular or as good for a reason as the traditional one. They are ok. But not as great as the original.
Also if you suffer from gastritis don't do mole! (I had mole last week and now I am regretting it lol) yeah I know I am Mexican but I had to give up all the spicy stuff some months ago.

She said she speaks triqui which is a language belonging to the Mixtec languages, spoken most commonly in the valleys of Oaxaca. Great stuff comes you way because your generosity my dude. Cheers!

@@HaraldBaldr Yes it is, thats one of many dialects our ancestors used to speak. Nowadays its very Hard to find ppl speaking those languages

I prefer seeing you in the videos as opposed to the POV version of travel mainly because when you aim the camera at yourself it makes one feel there, with you. Nobody likes to travel alone as the point-of-view style of filming communicates to the viewers. It's nice to imagine walking alongside you rather than in front of you merely hearing your voice in pausing intervals. Please do not change your adventures, besides when you are in the frame it feels like traveling with a friend.
All of your videos truly stole me away to places I had never been during some darkest years of my life enduring long, 5-hour chemotherapy sessions. @@SonOfTheMostHighGod777 I think that his videos were special and different in terms of vlogging because he filmed in such a manner that made viewers feel as though they were actually there, with him, on virtual adventures. This adapted manner of filming POV style from another RUclipsr he admires truly denotes his own style which I have always thought to be personable and promising. However, I am still a fan who enjoys watching his travels from afar with the occasional feeling of presence whenever he returns to his originality in filming.
