The best opportunity for Livewire to establish market share with the Del Mar is to make the bike affordable, which I think they are doing their best to achieve. From what I gather, it's about $2,000US more than a H-D Nightster (correct me if I'm wrong). Considering that the Del Mar cost of ownership would be less (eg no exhaust to upgrade, minimal servicing costs), then the extra cost over the Nightster is soon justified. I like the look of the OEM tires ... it makes the bike look like it's paying homage to the flat track race bikes, so giving it an 'identity' on the street with a touch of hooliganistic flavour may assist in attracting their intended target market. Once people start to compare it with other electric bikes (eg Zero from USA, Energica from Italy, Savic from Australia, etc), the Del Mar will become more apparent in who's going to buy it. As a urban bike, I'd happily own one if I could add a bit of luggage, even if it's a pair of mid sized saddlebags. The weight, performance & battery capacity look to be fairly reasonable for general commuting. I really want this bike to succeed. Hopefully they'll become available in Australia one day.

I’m glad I’m not in marketing, because I would no chance at this stuff. I ordered a Del Mar on the day the window opened. I’m all-in on electric everything, and this design is so compelling. But I ride to go get lost and zoom around some curves for an hour or two. Why would I want to make that a competition or be geo-located? I’m an old guy, though, so I get that I don’t get it. Excellent idea about sharing fun events from owners. I would buy this bike if they have this function! However, I hope they let people choose the tires cuz these huge tires are useless for such a small light bike. Hopefully some street sports tires are on offer

@@p3dtesla118 you're right I want to like this bike so bad but we have to be patient and just wait like everything else as time goes on the more you deal with mass production the more prices will go down I feel maybe around three years they're start using bigger batteries like the energica electric motercycle I can go over 260 miles on a single charge but the problem with that bike way overpriced like all the electric bikes.
When you compare this bike to the energica then Harley got problems the energica it's 10 times the electric bike of this unfortunately I'm in Connecticut we have no dealer that's the bike I really want over 200 miles on a single charge this is a joke 100 miles. I do not recommend this bike for that price 100 miles on a single charge SMH. Hopefully maybe their follow-up year they're put a bigger battery in and keep the price down then this bike will be better for prime time.
Two of the biggest problems with electric bikes price and mileage on a single charge this bike is a failure there are other bikes that exceeded 250 miles on a single charge this bike doesn't so I will not recommend this bike. And as far as price i have a hard time spending 16500 when you can get a ZX 1400 for the same price or Yamaha mt-10 I want to like this bike but it's not ready for prime time.

Total agree with you. Been driving a ev for 10+ years and I’m in my 60’s, just reserved a Del Mar yesterday (blue color)
