Yay! I've been looking forward to this. Thank you so much for sharing these strategies. 🙂 Love the idea of adding illustrations to the speech and thought bubbles to add more details!

Do you have a unit available on TPT for adding to the illustrations?

Thank you, Amy! I don't think I have before, but I got them from Wayfair. They're nice and sturdy. Here is the link to the exact one: www.wayfair.com/furniture/pdp/trent-austin-design-philip-71-h-x-71-w-steel-library-bookcase-w004824468.html

Do you have a printable page of how to add emotion to characters in a story. You flashed a sample fast in the video but I would love to have.

These strategies are so helpful. Thank you for not only explaining how the strategies work, but also giving us examples on how to teach the strategies. I know you use a lot of chart paper which is nice and large, but sometimes you use the actual paper they are going to use. My question is when you model and write using the same paper the students will, how do you do that so the whole class sees? It is on a normal size paper. Do you write what you are modeling and the show it to them and leave it up somewhere in the classroom for them to refer to? Or do you do that part in small groups, so you actually model that topic 3 or 4 times? Just trying to figure out how I will do this with my
Students. I am getting excited to try all these new skills out!😎

Great question, Lucy! When I use regular paper (which I do often) I will use a doc-cam and project it onto the board so the whole class can see! It is on normal paper, yes, and I will do it whole group and leave the camera on during writing workshop. Other times (depending on my classroom) I will actually take large, lined chart paper to Lakeshore and laminate 3-4 big pages. Then I use it consistently in front of the whole class with wet-erase markers. I write, revise, etc. all on the chart paper! When the entire unit is done, I erase the paper and start a new unit with the class.
      I hope that helps!
Also, I will do some small group lessons for a particular area of need, model in front of them using any type of paper and then I like the have students sit with me for a bit so I can make sure they're applying what was taught!
