I have a question: My son is 2.5 years-old. How long should I be doing fine motor skills activities with him before I start doing handwriting activities (writing the alphabet or his name, for example) ? Weeks, months, a year?
@TheOTDude said a child can grip a pencil well enough to write at around 4 years old. So focussing more on the pre writing skills would be better untli then.
Hello! Give him pushing activities first, then a fine motor task where he has to press on pegs on to a board. Let him practice writing on clay (pressed flat on the table). Lastly, you can put a few bolts on to the pencil to add weight. 😊 hope it works! 🙏🏻
