The sprites from 2nd Impact were on another level; some of the greatest character art in the series came from this and 3rd impact
The stages in this one are so comfy. And Gill's theme is so so so good.

2I has always been my favorite SF3 game. Love the stages, music, presentation, the colors and the fact that it’s slightly faster. One of my favorite SF games of all time

Also one important detail to highlight: Best win screens in fg history. Win screen all started with showing the standard portrait for the winner and a beat up edit of the standard portrait for the loser. Then Snk introduced still in the early 90s full new art works and specific lines. Capcom applied the same ideas later in their 95 games like DS2 and MSH (better execution).
But Capcom went all out and in SF3 finally created the best screen of all: high quality brand new art work, and for winner AND loser, and not afraid of violence (blood and all). And the picture highlights the loser in a actual whole pic (it's not two seperate things like in all other fgs).
Showing the loser was already rare by that time. The win screens became focused on the winner, and continued that way after SF3. For ex: SFA3, DS3, MvC1-2, etc. On both Capcom and Snk.
Sadly it looks like the first SF3 versions reached a peak that was never attempted again, by Capcom or any other fg maker. In fact some games did even worse win screens later: 3S and CvS just used plain portraits, not even new art works like SFA3 or MvC.
Also from what i remember (but im not an expert) all 3d fgs only show on the winner. Then modern 2d fgs like SF4-5 and KoF 15 just copy that style of win animations.
PS: Maybe i should make a honorable mention to the first SS games that showed the loser being carried out of the stage in the win screen. It was a nice little contribution to the presentation in the genre.

(For those who don't know, Dudley had this move in New Generation and 2nd Impact, lost it in 3rd Strike, then regained it in SF4 as a charge move).
He doesn’t have it in New Generation. Only in 2nd Impact and IV.

Best soundtrack of SF3 and I love the voice overs in this game as well.
I dont know if 3S was just rushing too much to get done with the new chars and stages, but no one can deny that it lost a lot of details from 2I. Look how win screens went. Very few fgs at the time still used the plain portrait win screens, they mostly used original art like SFA3, DS3 and MvC1.
I've always loved 2I for its DNB inspired music, extra character stages, and just overall impressive visual style. Glad to see you gave it a try with the greatest of ease
I don't like street fighter's change in focus to dance-based music at all. Be it this game, 3rd strike with the hip hop, cvsnk2 with whatever it was going for. I wish they were still doing the epic video game music from street fighter 2 and to a slightly lesser extent Alpha1 and 2
2nd impact gil stage is the best stage in the game and the best music too

Hoping the 4th Impact mod has a way to unite them both like bruh if they can mod AND balance Gill then hoping the stages and especially the music get that treatment too
@@Buenosaurus-Rex Capcom had the duty of making a definitive SF3, in the same fashion of HSFA and HSF2 in the 2000s. But sadly they acted like SF3 had to be forgotten.
A game combining all music, all stages, all chars versions, etc. Everything customizable. Also some extra modes, new bonus games.
@@carlosaugusto9821 yeah it's why I'm saying someone in RUclips is showcasing a mod named 4th Impact rebalancing the roster with a playable 12 and giving new tools to the low tiers while bringing a balanced Gill to play in VS. Wonder if he'll put the past lost stages and music in this

The sf3 games are so much more beautiful than modern 3d sf (minus urien's portrait here lol). With modern animations, sf4 and 5 couldnt compare to it

Bring back win screens that focus on the beat up loser. The ONLY fg that dared to do it was the early SF3.
SF2 set the standards first with simple "beat up" edits of the basic portraits. Then came the times of special art works like in the early Marvel games.
But then SF3 dared to humiliate the loser showing him all beat up (btw not afraid of showing blood) and the picture focusing on the loser. No fg ever went back to that again, which is a shame.
I’m not sure why this edition of SF3 is so under appreciated. It’s so good in my opinion (gameplay, music, character stages, widescreen support, and so much more).

Looks like it has Alpha elements to it.
Change of moveset for some chars if not all
3S is kind of an updated version of the previous installment in the SF3 series, with different stages and new music, sound effects and voice lines. They also added more characters to the roster, and significantly overhauled the movesets. Fun fact: Oro has a double jump in 3S!
The controls are a bit different (throws and universal overheads for example) and they added red parrying.
One new addition that I really enjoy is the special character intros at the beginning of a match. It's really cool to see the characters interact with each other before the battle begins.

@@begcoins Good decision. Overall the game isnt good outside the most hardcore competitive circles. Even in that realm the game is kind of divisive (eg even Daigo was more dedicated to master and grind SF2 and DS than SF3, that he was never very hype about). In a global sense, all aspects considered, SFA is a better series, especially the console version of SFA3.

The Japanese version on all fighting game are always better. They're now watering down the progress. It's sad really. They are making people dumber than giving them a challenge. Why move backwards. Ooh. I started playing with grappler because you can mix combos and slams. Just play Alex the way you play G. You will understand.
Stop... Using down and forward so much. U will have more fun blocking. Surprise your opponent. U parry to much. U can't combo fast like that. Defense is Offense and offense is defense. And other word run up on them if u to block. Stay away if you want to combo. Neutral and mid is good but you got your own game.... No disrespect. My bad fam. I'm just a fan. Please just see what combos was really like when u were free 2 do as u please. Anything use 2 work. As long as the frame was right. Don't know now tho. It's goofy.
