The topic of fails.....I was in ESD surfing the Exchange and watching zone chat. People were talking about how some people don't belong in Elite content. It was sad and toxic, and I've seen it in nearly every game I have ever played. I have been an "Elite" player in other games, and I understand both sides of the topic. There is the I don't have time to babysit "Noob" players. The other side is IF you don't teach them, they won't learn, and you lose a player that could have been a great addition to any group in the future. It's easy to forget you were that NOOB at one point. I have avoided the Elite stuff because I don't have the gear to even try to learn. When I do have the gear, I will try a random and I hope I get teachers and not the impatient players. I was that rude big headed elite player at one point, and I had a guild member with years of experience take me aside and talk to me. REMIND me that I was a NOOB and how he and others took the time to show me how to do the content and that is how I got where I was. He also told me it's not about just doing YOUR PART it's about being ABLE to do more and pick up the slack form other players that are struggling so they can learn. That player you CARRY today might be the one that saves YOU next month!
It's a game killer. Was part of the problem for a few pvp games that never worked out, and it's a disaster now in mmorpgs. Wildstar catered to Raiders... game is gone now. Wow put what little creativity they had in their game into crap like Raids, and that hurt the game... STO needs some new ideas, but catering to "elite" players (more often whales in that game, maybe) and they are going to die even faster.
Honestly, considering how easy the Tac consoles (locators / exploiters) are to get, this is how the 'advanced' consoles should have been from the beginning.
Looking at the exchange, the first 120 isomags (which are pretty much everything available) are at 1 million or less, only the Phaser is holding its price at over 22million
Very informative video MCStu. Makes it very clear for those unfamiliar with the new changes. I'm glad they fixed they fail where you still get it. It just encourages people to AFK it, and get rewarded for it. Shots fired Spencer!
Ten minutes after watching this I was crafting my very first isomag. Without this vid it would have taken me ages to find this out, as the tooltip for the random queue reward does NOT list the components as an option.
I picked up the components to make the device's for around 500k each (some cheaper) making it a cost of 2.5m per (pet) console pretty cheap (plus the garbage components). I don't have to do elite random TFO now, that's such a relief, my equipment barely does advanced, (solo) let alone elite.
Wow, Incredible! I stopped doing elites due to constant team failures. Now that i know you still get the reward, ill start making elite tfos a priority. Thanks man!
I love running new Elite TFO Finder I'm not parse chaser but I can finally push my build little more and get loads of marks/mark boxes/random ore per tfo/dil ore inside mark box. All cool! :)
Thank you for the great video and wonderful content. I have two full sets of disruptor and polaron isomags consoles that I grinded out for two different account characters, aka 32 isomags for two different characters that I ran daily elite TFOs for months. Two months after I complete both sets they come out with this and crash the market. At least I do not need to run hundreds of elite queues to get these consoles for my characters and now I am looking the EPG consoles for science builds. This should go a lot faster than the isomags did.
Even if you fail the TFO you still get the random mark box with the epic box with the dil and marks you just dont get the elite one for finishing the TFO being successful, which is great becasue it will make more want to play elite and with that consoles on the exchange are getting cheaper now compared to six months ago, I even got Korfex failed it still get the extra marks and dill and epic box as part of random TFO where you get to choose one of the 4
Elite ground TFO are a heck of a lot easier than Elite space TFOs. I was able to do many different Elite ground TFOs with just the Adapted MACO ground set.

defo what i waited for, great for anyone wanting the consoles for themselfs and not to sell ^^ love carriers and engi ships vut always felt weaker on ships with not enough tac slots, glad thats in the past soon now ^^
If you buy a Duty Officer for that check that it is from the right fraction. I could not use a klingon one with my fed char and it took me to long to figure it out.

Okay so I am a diehard Fleet Norway. It is just my style. Vary Rare to Full Upgrade, mostly a shield piercer. Any advice or do you have a build for it to do Elite TFOs?
Tried elite TFO on random and on fail there was no drop except for 10 marks. Not sure if there are fail conditions that don't give out the box but seems on certain fail it does not seem available
Haven't seen anyone mention it so far, so maybe it's another component of patching out getting the cores on failures, but I just made my choice and got 2 cores from one box after a successful Hive Onslaught via the random elite queue. Here's hoping this doesn't get patched out, too.
Okay, just got another pair of cores (coils?) after a random Defend Rh'Ihho Station run, so that's happened twice over the course of around ten randoms. Also, I'll just back up what was said in the video: just give it a shot. I hadn't done an elite TFO until two days ago and I'm not running with a single recommended DOFF or meta build, but I have been mostly successful on my runs with only a handful of failures (Korfez).
I play on console and random elite has been ok except for the Turei map in Battle of Korfez. That map is ridiculous. I have zero success rate when that map pops up in Korfez.
Since the last patch failing an elite no longer rewards the coil....so that's changed since you did the vid. Obviously i can not read what you have as a pinned post, so sorry about that....Good work on the vid.
Looks pretty good , but for what I can do in game is beyond my level . Been coming and going in the game for years and getting frustrated and floundering fast and dropping the game for long periods of time in between .
I am wishing the reward was the piece in the gold box instead of the coil so the market could recover. That said I am hoping they bring the entire stat pool to the re roll option table of the tac advanced consoles and more types of advanced consoles soon!!
There's bugs in elite random rewards. I just failed one and did not get ANYTHING... I mean nothing. everyone just left without any rewards because the 'leave the area' button came up. So far I haven't received any consolation prize for failing.
Hey MCStu. Just wandered in because this video popped up in my feed. I know nothing about ISOMags, but it seems like Cryptic listened and provided a reason to run Elite content. Just how good are these ISOMags? Do they abrogate the Crit meta or is it just a different avenue, maybe to give cruisers their due?

Question: instead of a particular weapon type isomag i went with all Beans or Cannons..so i could change weapon types without getting and upgrading so many other isomags ..was this a good move ?
You can do that and it does give you more flexibility and will work fine, but those type do give less of a boost then one they is for a specific type...
It's nice that those consoles are easier to get now. That is the positive. What I don't understand is why one type of console is so ridiculously harder to obtain than anything else. If all powerful items were like this - ok. I could deal with it. But compare them to tactical fleet consoles and it's silly AF. It seems like they try to milk that piece of new content as much as possible. Not a big fan of it. Apart from that I begin to question the merit if three different types of consoles. That concept has become absolutely pointless, as most slots are being filled with universal consoles anyway. So yeah, easier to get iso mags is nice. Even if it's just for more monotonous power creep.
Isomags are only Engineering. You might be thinking of the fleet tactical consoles (locators/exploiters) which affect your Critical Hit (Chance/Severity).
I feel like it’s worth just crafting more is trying to re-roll it a couple times but hoping that you’ll get a good role on the craft if you don’t just run another elite and craft another one….
thanks it's fixed, so you don't get the reward after failing. I hope ppl learn how to play the elite tfo and don't let others do the work. that's what i am sick of. i hate to play for 5 and them getting rewarded. I am a friendly dude. So please get better so i can have fun too...
Not sure if just me, could end up being as tin foil hat theory but I am finding that the reroll is taking longer to get a weapon type affix now that these are easier to obtain.
Would be a lot easier, if you could just choose what energy type you want when crafting isomag's, like with crafted weapons.. I'd like to hear the reasoning behind not doing that from Cyptic, or whomever owns this game now. Because it sounds like pestering to me... Next to a lot of agony and work to get 1 isomag.. I don't respond well to that, so i just buy them... game is Pay to win... right ?...

I keep queuing for random elites, doing as little activity/damage as possible as not to get an AFK penalty, but keep failing the TFOs and not getting rewards that give us the isomag coil. What is everyone doing wrong? Why can't they carry me? Another good video for summing up the change. As always, much appreciated!
@@99Cheops99 It probably is, but based at the same time. You'll probably have folks who will jump in, may not be prepared or will just afk to get the reward provided the group wins. The "easier" part STU was referring to is probably for those who have a premade. As I don't think they would waste time sitting in a random queue with a pretty good chance of failure.
@@mr.menagerie8232 I'm aware that premades are easier for successful completion since you don't have to carry.. however what got me was that Cryptic either made a mistake or didnt actually realize that giving people coils on fail would just make people try and fail faster to more efficiently grind them.

I hear you, I bought my first set a few weeks ago for well over 200 million EC.

You can most definitely use them with fleet consoles, the protomatter matrix infusers from the colony are tac consoles that will work with the isomags
You can not use them with the spire tac console is what I meant to say.

Yes they did get easier to accquire, but getting the mods you want is still like getting a ship from a lockbox.

Does Phaser stack with Beam ?
Only for the Phaser beams,
If you are running phaser weapons and had 3 phaser ISO mags and 2 beam ISO Mags, they both would be stacking to boost you phaser beams.

the massive dilithium cost of re-engineering them was intended as a dilithium sink to help address the dilithium backlog on the zen exchange.
