I'd like to point out a very neat feature of the ground sets that most people haven't a clue. When running missions with your away team officers, your main character gets any and all set bonuses from sets worn by your Boffs. If your away team member is wearing the Nahkul set for example but your main is wearing a different set, your main will get the red invincible shield from their Nahkul set bonus when your main gets low health. I have 5 different sets on my main and away team and I get all 5 set bonuses on my main while on missions with them. Combine that with the fact they have designed each set to compliment the other sets and when you go to battle with your away team now you have one member adding extra stealth/expose damage , a member adding stacks of resistance from damage,a member healing shields and health, a member that reduces control effects against, and a member that shoots and spreads aoe dots all over the place. The perfect team.
@@Shapes_Quality_Control I’m asking you because I don’t know & I thought you might be able to help. I’m trying to work out which sets do what & which sets he is talking about synergising together.
One suggestion for all current players. Especially current Budget or F2P players. The event currently running on PC, and coming soon to Console. The End of the Klingon Civil War event. Do It! Do the Daily Event every day. It doesn’t matter which. The Reward is a full 4 piece “Imperial Ground Set”. Much like the 4 piece space set this is an Account Reclaimable Ground set that you can reclaim and equip on a new character as soon as you finish the tutorial. (Or level 10). It includes Shield, Armor, Dual Nanopulse Pistols and a Melee weapon. The Armor and Shield look to be fantastic given how easily and early you can get and equip them.
Where can you reclaim items that are account spawnable? I just returned to the game after about 6+ years. I rolled a new character (TOS era now level 20), should I do this on my main or can it be done on my new alt?
@@AethyrPrime it depends on the item. C- store purchases you reclaim via Cstore. The item will show as Available instead of a price. Just click claim. For event rewards there is a reclaim button on the characters Events tab. Finally some items will show up in the reclaim tab of the Dilithium store. Love your videos. The only correction I was going to make was that the Discovery Rifle comes from the "Age of Discovery" story arc. You get it while running around on the Buran. :) I have been playing STO since launch and I still prefer that rifle. It's the most solid feeling weapon and for its rate of fire, is pretty accurate.
@@Marketdoor Thank you! I just re-ran Para Pacem for naught (although the cut scenes with Captain Tilley are some of the most entertaining in the game).
as for your mentioning the plasma weapons, the plasma repeater pistol with these buffs and the RIN kit can be absolutely brutal with full auto. Combined with a romulan toon with Plasma Weapon Expert and you can get some funky fresh numbers. the plasma piercing beam rifle too.
I recently found one called Trajectory Bending, which gives a 70+ crit severity and turns all your damage into flanking damage regardless of your position and the cooldown is short. I love it.
Also worth noting, because a lot of people miss it. Much like the free Disco Full Auto Phaser Rifle hidden in the Armory of "The Plausibility of the Possible" there is a similar but not quite as nice Disco Phaser Sniper Rifle in some supply boxes on Pahvo at the end of "Illusion of Communication".
@Ivanhoe ॐ After you defeat Killy on the ground map there should be some sparkling freight containers. Search them. I don’t know if the reward is random. But every time I’ve opened them I have gotten a Mk 12 VR Disco Phaser Sniper Rifle.
For my xbox toon, I’m eng fed, my weapon is the boolean heavy cannon, upgraded to epic, love the one shot kill and yes it has a slow fire rate but there is a trick for that, alternate between firing modes, killing bosses so easy , for the big bosses 3 shot kill, in TFO bosses more. For the shield I use the Sompek set, love the knock out ability on it, though after viewing the Nakul one, I am reconsidering it, for the kit frame, have some generic one that I got of the exchange, might get the one suggested, good tip on it. And for the kit modules, have the KID drone, love it when it smiley face hovers next to me, then the Ba’ul Obelisk network kit, loveee them, they take care of the little guys while I focus on the big ones, and some other ones that for the love of me cannot remember at the moment. For the body have the Red Angel suit, which I also love, since gaining it in the event, my survivability has been increased a lot, like once or twice in game since owning it, and then even in extremly dificult cases. And lastly for the pets have the tribble from the lobby store, the radan one, that gives you energy and shield buff, and the elachi combat waker, yes it slow too but love that spider next to me 😀
The Romulan Imperial Navy set is what I have on the bridge officers of an alternate toon of mine. I also have hive mind on the bridge officers of my main toon, and vicious on another toon.
If you're looking for an alternative to Weaponized Dark Matter than get Resistance is Futile. WDM 1M EC versus RIF 300k EC. I like Resistance is Futile because it debuffs resistance and effects multiple enemies. The root effect would be perfect to chain with Fek'lhri Chaos Blaze. combo: Antiproton Leash (The Measure of Morality, Pt. 2) -> Resistance is Futile (exchange for 300k EC) -> Fek'lhri Chaos Blaze (Doomed to Repeat) The major downside is the animation time for Antiproton Leash, but it is a decent alternative to equipping Paradox Bomb. I only offer an alternative to Weaponized Dark Matter because I have had a few TFOs bug because the damage effect can linger beyond killing the enemy, which can cause problems.
The active ability Defiance, that gives you a massive resistance boost, is only usable when your health is really low... if the enemies are hitting you fast enough, they will drop your health through that zone before you can activate that ability, I find I'm often not able to use it in time to save my life. I prefer to use the device from Delta Recruit that lets me instantly heal myself when I die once every 10 minutes...
I like how for pc you guys have all yours abilities ready to be clicked for combat but on PS4 you have to hold down L1 or L2 then scroll over what ability your trying to use and that’s for space... now for the ground it’s the same why couldn’t it had been like put the abilities you want to use on a layout like R2 and x to use security escort and then fill out on how many moves you can use from using R2 to all the buttons. Now if u want to use your kits make that R1 and x to use Overwatch and L1 help use the other things that’s just help to buff your resistance...
And here I was hoping to get some pointers on the Expose/Exploit mechanics. If you always want an exploit weapon and have you BOFFs setup to expose everything, or if you should have a balance, or if it depends on the BOFF and captain species in question. Sounds like it can be ignored by brute force weapon stats.
I've yet to see someone mention range on ground weapons. Don't sleep on that. Close quarters a pulsewave rifle is awesome, but in the open I'd always pick something different. Rightclick -> show info. You'll notice the secondary attack on full auto rifles is only 20m, while a minigun deals it's sweeping dmg up to 30m. Also the synergy between expose and exploit weapons isn't unimportant. Get an exploit weapon yourself and let the BOFFs do the exposing (since the AI is not good at taking exploit shots).
The Assimilated Full Auto Plasma Rifle is a really good plasma rifle in my opinion. It melts Tholians pretty effectively and pretty much anything else you use it against.
For me, Sci ground is significantly more fun than Tac or Eng, but then again I'm an older player and the standard point and shoot gets a bit boring at times.
Thank you for these back to basic videos. As a casual player for the past several years, I am learning so much from you. Interesting that you are not running combat pets out of your device slots. ATTENTION! The Phaser Full Auto Rifle from the mission IS NOT the same as the Lobi one, it used to be, but the mission one is now a FAR inferior version and NOT going to show you the same results. The mission does still give a Ultra rare on first playthrough. MY OPINION I'd recommend a Piercing Plasma Beam Rifle, it's plasma so the kit shown will bump it a little, and it's a fun weapon overall with the constant maintain primary fire.

As well as tough little ship, x2 eng x2 photon mortars, x2 shield gens, x2 health regens, Nakul armor and shield and Disco weapon / Ev. But anytime I fight Borg I just switched to the Disco weapon and beat the crap out of them. 😂 Im into easy. When I execute the tray that calls in every possible item. I often out number of the number of enemies on the map and when there's just one enemy to knock down oh man they die super fast. I also use pavan healing crystal and nanites to heal the whole team at once. 👍1 doff runs jemhadar (tac) the rest run maco. The medic might run something that helps with healing I can't remeber. Borg science officer is healer/placater, 2 human engineers just because it what I have.... and idc. Romulan Tac.
I was told years ago when playing ground, that if you match up your Boffs with the weapons of their species/type it works better? i.e. Romulan Boff havig Romulan diruptors, or Bren having the Cold weapon (CRM?), or the Borg Boffs with their respective Borg weapons, any thoughts on that?
Have you come across a motule called a tactical: bend trajectory this i feel like synergizes with the tommy gun and tactical: deadly intent; along with the temporal dot dmg and command flanking dmg speciality & using intel: sonic suppression, and command: return fire.
should do a vid on the breen set from the winter event store its a 4 piece and when upgraded to epic its one of the best sets in the game if you use cold based kits i thought they would nerf it but so far they have not
I have not looked at it very closely. I am running it on my free to play account, but have not started it on my main account. What I will say is if you are logging in daily, find the easiest ones to run and get it, free gear is free gear. It is ground gear and most are not really in to it, so not the end of the world if you miss out on something good. I lot of the time we not know if something is good until after its been used for a bit.
Now I am looking at your screen and there is no extra slot for EV suit as there is now so how does that change the Discovery pick should I get both? Most of my characters have the cannon as their weapon would you use that or something else? I am asking because I watched your video regarding the new ISOMAG farming and I have not tried to run these TFO's on epic so I want to be able to contribute and survive.
How does the Plausibility of the Possible Disco Weapon compare to the Romulan Wide Beam Rifle (Solanae Dyson Spire Vendor)? I've always considered the Romulan Wide Beam Rifle to be the best ground budget weapon in the game as it's secondary does a large amount of damage in a cone frontal - kills all trash mobs in one hit if you have plasma dmg buffed.
I was just looking for something like this I got a good plasma build with a wide beam rifle but I can’t remember how I got it I’d love a Disruptor wide beam build and the Harold anti proton staff build

I think the 23c was a waste. I'm not going for DPS, you and 'Augmented, vids, at least I'm enjoying it. The Na'Kuhl ground shield with full auto, and some eng. kit mods. makes ground somewhat fun. @@MCStu I found it. It was the Terran Rep Outfit. It is the only outfit so far from the Reputation that can be combined with other things in the Uniform Screen. I mixed it with the Tac Vest and the Vaadwaur Face Mask ;) Looks pretty rough for ST ;)
A lot of upgrades with like phoenix tokens. Yello is called epic and this is the highest rarity. During upgrading you have chances of getting a higher rarity. So getting epic can mean to use a lot of upgrade tokens. It is recommend to wait for an upgrade weekend to hunt higher rarity. For new players with less dilithium escepecially.
So, with THIS video, you're saying that unless I'm in the 'gated community', known as a'fleet', I won't stand an ice block's chance in a impulse engine, in ground combat?
Not what Im saying at all. The Fleet armor is good, but the disco rep armor is better. So you can put together a top end build with just mission rewards and rep.

Listen I don't care what youtuber or STO Lawyer tells you The Burnham Armor isn't as good as every harps I wasted so much Recourses with that damn thing. and Saw virtually no improvement in any meaningful way I ended up tossing it out in the trash the instant I got my hands on Armor that was actually worth something. for the effort you have to deal with to get it I wouldn't had I known the truth. I wanted to put as a Side note I'm not bashing on this Video I actually like Stu's Content but I groan every time i see someone mention that Burnham armor, it was a major disappointment. it's always a good Idea to hear about what's out there in the game if you new but the only "Real" advice that worth anything is DO YOUR EVENTS lol

It depends on there traits, ie. Trait: Plasma Weapon Specialist/boff. But I don't believe there is one for each weapons type.
Any chance for a video on the best melee weapons?
Really wish STO had the Jem'Hadar Kar'takin.
I love the Fek'hiri one.
Have you come across a motule called a tactical: bend trajectory this i feel like synergizes with the tommy gun and tactical: deadly intent; along with the temporal dot dmg and command flanking dmg speciality & using intel: sonic suppression, and command: return fire.
Yes, Its a decent trait
I remember when the Omega set was king, loooong time ago.
whats your current kit cheese build sonny
should do a vid on the breen set from the winter event store its a 4 piece and when upgraded to epic its one of the best sets in the game if you use cold based kits i thought they would nerf it but so far they have not
I've ran Para Pacem a bunch of times & can't find any armory or weapon rack or anything.
What am I missing?
Hey mc stu whats your opinion on the current event ground set? Is it worth the grind to 40 points in your opinion?
I have not looked at it very closely. I am running it on my free to play account, but have not started it on my main account. What I will say is if you are logging in daily, find the easiest ones to run and get it, free gear is free gear. It is ground gear and most are not really in to it, so not the end of the world if you miss out on something good. I lot of the time we not know if something is good until after its been used for a bit.
@@MCStu Oh ok thanks mc stu! :)
Using the Disc EV whick has the same stats as the Disc armor im using in the video
What mission does the romulan kit come from?
Ran the mission Para Pacem mission you mentioned for the Phaser rifle twice today. I couldn't find the weapons rack you spoke about.
Try the mission "The Plausibility of the Possible" under the "Age of Discovery" tab. I just ran that mission to pick the rifle up again.
is near a material ground in a box, press V to locate the materials or you can buy from Exchange
I played Para Pacem twice and never saw the weapons locker to get that rifle? Never saw the armory?
@@HarryTDA Awesome, thanks for the info!
go to notifications and disable fly-ins
The Imperial Armor has great health regen.
Thanks for this video very helpful.
They are pretty comparable, it's really just which you like better. Split beam will do more AOE....
Hive mind does work with boffs u just won't get the bonus and its not actually 20m its the whole map
I was just looking for something like this I got a good plasma build with a wide beam rifle but I can’t remember how I got it
I’d love a Disruptor wide beam build and the Harold anti proton staff build
Really enjoy your 'lessons', STO is a really twisted puzzle. Having fun with a Kelvin Intel, all beam, I was stupid and opened the new lockbox in hopes of the Crossfire refit, got the 23c. phasers, they look cool. and I just ramped up all 4 T.V.L.s. and Lorca Console. I think the 23c was a waste. I'm not going for DPS, you and 'Augmented, vids, at least I'm enjoying it.
The Na'Kuhl ground shield with full auto, and some eng. kit mods. makes ground somewhat fun.
I 'got' an Olaen HS strike Wing Escort, no clue what to do with it. Any thoughts?
The Heavy Strike Wing Escort (T6)?
@@MCStu Xindi-Insectoid Olaen Heavy Strike Wing Escort - T6X. I don't want to buy Plasmatic, can't craft 'em. Scratching my head on this, looks cool, pets, IDK
Stu you should try that plasma wide beam rifle. Love that thing
Would recommend that max tech upgrade for it, it starts as a white lol
Why not take a plasma weapon as main? Cause of the plasma damage bonus from the kit.
The other weapons do better even with the 20% cat 1 boost for plasma.
@@MCStu Ok, thanks for quick response.
Whats the engineering version of those kits?
IMO
Plasma Weapon: Romulan Plasma High Density Beam Rifle from Rom Rep is the best one I've used.
Pick one up from rep box and upgrade.
Use the 2 part Imperial kit and armor with the Na'kul shield and weapon.
Great Vid! Thanks! Which Armor did you mix with the tac vest and ZV Helmet?
I think the rest is from the Dyson rep
@@MCStu Thanks. Looks awesome
What uniform is your toon wearing....looks cool
Its a kit bash, I'll try to get a list of parts for it if you interested.
@@MCStu Yes I would be, its better than just running around in this Romulan uniform all the time. :)
@2:38 what mission is that??
Iconian War mission “Uneasy Allies”.
@@MCStu ty. I have been very active on your discord lol
how can I turn a item in yellow like your rifle? new in the game

What about the new klingon armor set form the event?
It looks to be a decent free set.
What costume piece is the chest armor and helm from?
It unlocks with the Disco cyborg Boff sto.fandom.com/wiki/Marta_Okataya
There was not an Armory on the mirror discovery mission Para Pacem. Unless Im dumb and just didnt see it.
Correction: Phaser Full Auto Rifle comes from Mission The Plausibility of the Possible in the Age of Discovery Arc
and in wich part of the para pacem mission i get the rifle again in this room whit the chambers or in the enginering room
It's actually "The plausabilty of the possible" :)
Yes, Rydia704 is correct, I messed that one up.
Thanks brother.
Great video
Yay..wrist rockets..how boba jango Fett..
@@MCStu Just so you know, As much as I really, REALLY, want to get the 'hang' of running Star Trek Online, I just keep looking at these Star Trek Online RUclips videos, and feeling so 'incompetent' that I make a 'Pakled' look like a 'Vulcan' in comparison.
(P.S., "Disco Rep"? WTH is "Disco Rep"?
I cant find the rifle, can you help ?
Lol just get the two OP weapons in missions that kill in one to two hits everything in the game. This is why know one pvp me.
why do you highlight commando when you say constable ?
Why no pet?
I just wanted to keep it basic for this video. Pets are good
@@MCStu ohh ok, great video lots of great information as usual
Weaponised dark matter on console min 14 million ec. Lol
That might be my fault with this vid, it was 1-2M. It will come back down
No Armory in para pacem mission it looks like it was removed they removed the free weapon this video needs an update
Correction: Phaser Full Auto Rifle comes from Mission The Plausibility of the Possible in the Age of Discovery Arc. Sorry about that
ok call me stupid if you must as im new. but where are you in this vid
I am at my fleet Star Base.
@@MCStu thank you
Listen I don't care what youtuber or STO Lawyer tells you The Burnham Armor isn't as good as every harps I wasted so much Recourses with that damn thing. and Saw virtually no improvement in any meaningful way I ended up tossing it out in the trash the instant I got my hands on Armor that was actually worth something. for the effort you have to deal with to get it I wouldn't had I known the truth. I know that fly's in the face of the "Number's" but I got far more use from something as lame as the Na'kuhl set then I did Burnham and then once i got torchbearer's it was dun son lol at best Burnham's is a Extreme Mid teir stepping stone.
Dude please update your video ! What a waste of time
Hate ground. The game looks like its 1999.
your ground build is a joke dude really i have 250 cooldown and 408 kit performence with other 1k on both shield and hp and im not even a cash whale like you
Like the title says, it's a basic 101 Build LOL
when you have life thing with full r 15gear i dont call that basic
...I look forward to seeing your build video on here then!
@@davesmith9844 keep looking what i sent is only the stat not giving my build cause my build rape donator like sht in pvp
