Good quality video, I agree about the lamentation of the Ahwanee, Flight-Deck Carrier would've been a much better platform, even if it still had the same console load-out. Didn't realize the Chekov would only get set to the Honorable Mentions list, but, it be how it do. Also didn't realize that the Cyclone's Experimental Weapon was that good, so, guess I've things to think about come summer. Amazed at how many Terran ships were there, not necessarily surprising, but, 4/10 of them were, which proves those two bundles held some good value. All in all, thanks Stu, I've some ideas with how to go forwards with the event campaign later this year, looking forwards to the other two vids.
The Terran ships just happen to be Anniversary bundle ships, and over the past few years the Anniversary bundles all had at least a couple ships that are really good.
In late but another thing I've seen mentioned virtually nowhere is the Cyclone's experimental weapon will fire through an enhanced battle cloak, like the one on the Terran Eagle. They're the only two that will.

The Ahwahnee with the pet debuffs and the science build reminds me of my old Recluse build from around when i stopped playing 8 yrs ago (and just returned a few days ago). Sounds pretty cool. Man, 8 years of lifetime membership zen income is wild.
The Ahwahnee was the only one on the list I didn't already own - between the 3/3 weapons layout and the 1 tac console, I wasn't at all sure about it, but based on your recommendation, I figured I'd give it a try. Might be a bit tricky to figure out refining a build that works for me, but even if I can't get a build I'm happy with, at least I might get some pretty screenshots out of it.
A pretty basic BO build works fine on it. Focus on the EPG/support part and the pets and it'll do good in any content. If you have the Tholian 3piece space set, using it and going for a Tetryon setup works especially good, since you're gonna produce a LOT of those warp crystals, which means significant bonus damage.
If you're up for using Advanced Engineering consoles, those make up for the lack of Tactical slots on the Ahwahnee. It's not really built for a weapons based build, but you can do some neat stuff with the fighters. @@Stu1701 For a fighter focused build its a good idea to use FaW and Scatter Volley. Otherwise with just one you are limiting the pet damage too much on that style of build.

Great video. @Stu1701 between you and Nic_NB, I’m going to end up bankrupt. Dangling all these shiny ships in front of me. Thankfully, I have quite a few of them but seeing the benefits of the ships and the explanation behind why the trait/console/ship/weapon etc are good or bad does certainly help playing make a more informed choice, based on what they are wanting/expecting from a ship (unlike some players I know who go on a spending spree then ask ‘So what can I do with this ship or trait etc’. Most of the time, nothing useful) Loved the format of the video.
Buran is still a solid choice for a tank, both for flying as one and for the trait and console it comes with. It's also a really pretty ship, in my opinion. I'm just not a huge fan of it's seating because it can't use any tactical powers above Lieutenant level.
@@Stu1701 #fact It's just too restricted on even basic firing modes so it'll never do enough damage to reliably pull aggro. Just one Lt.Cmdr tac seat would make it a premium tank though.

Since finishing the new Event Campaign, I'm now looking at what ships to get with that lovely loot... I did purchase the Lobi NX Refit for that console.
take the console from the hyborian(aka the dragonship from summer event last year) put it on the cyclone and load the cyclone up with the terran rep. disruptor + radiation damage dealers( maybe with the exception of the discovery rep double heavy disruptor beams). the experimental weapon from the cyclone deals psychic damage and the hyborian's console's grants a passive bonus to disruptor, radiation and psychic damage along with cold and electrical. though on that note using wide arc disrutor cannons might be a good idea to add too.... question. does the damage resistors consoles, are the ones that resist 40% of something better than the ones that resist 20% of all???
i dont have the mealstorm torp, i instead use the shielded point defense torp, i use the escort pilot ship rn, with mask to get my bonuses but also it has that extra missile every few seconds, and i have a micro missile and mines in the back
The temer alliance raider is a lot like the Eagle same weapon layout, and enhanced battle cloak. The turn rate is a little slower on the temer at 19 compared to the eagle’s 21 you can do very similar builds on each of them
That's true, I always forget about the Temer ever since the Eagle came out because, stats-wise, the Eagle is just the Temer with Pilot Maneuvers. But the Eagle comes with a bunch of great torp build stuff, so obviously I'm gonna want it anyway, so what's the point of the Temer after that?
28:21 - One of the only instances I can think of where I *honestly* prefer the feel of it's Fleet T5-x2 counterpart. The carrier style just *does not* suit the Cheyenne *at all* - and it *certainly* doesn't suit the Stargazer
The extra console slot is only on full Miracle Worker ships, meaning it has to have the Innovation Mechanic on it. Just because a ship has a secondary Miracle Worker seat, like the Ahwahnee does, doesn't mean it's full Miracle Worker, so it will not have the extra console slot.
You said the Lexington having Intel synergises well with MW. It only has Lieutenant-Commander seating.. I can see anything at that low level that is useful. What would you use? (I honestly just ignore Intel on it.)
Intel has Override Subsystem Safeties, which gives nice buffs to all your power levels. This is good for energy weapons because more weapon power means more damage, and it stacks with the power buffs from Isomags. At Lieutenant level, you'll be able to use either the level 1 or 2 versions of this ability. There is a drawback though, after it's duration, it'll take one random subsystem offline for 5 seconds, which can be annoying if it takes weapons. You can fix it though with Engineering Team. Intel also has three different abilities that trigger Unconventional Systems. I recommend Viral Impulse Burst and Ionic Turbulence if you only have room for two like on Lexington.
I got the Bozeman with the recent t6 token they gave us.... I F'KN LOVE IT!!! When the even ends I'm getting the Enterprise G with my premium token...... The other coupons will be the Lexington and.... Maybe the Terran Voyager... Haven't decided yet, lol
The Bozeman is honestly The Federation's best intel ship, full-stop. That thing is absolutely *cracked* in ways I can't begin to describe without showing gameplay of it in action, lol.
Bozeman is heavily underrated and its fleet Sojuz variant is one of the best free ships to get with fleet consoles. Very easy to build it strong with only rep gear and isomags or locators/exploiters. Put a Ba'ul antiproton SS build on it with distributed targeting and you'll absolutely slay anything. Btw. its temoral surge trait gives you 100% crit chance for 10 seconds on EVERYTHING, including exotic damage and AOE consoles like Approaching Agony. VERY potent for high burst damage!
They did make a T6 version, it's the Cyclone. They just didn't include the tail gun. Which is good, because the tail gun was stupid. If it had a 360 degree arc, it'd be fine, but only being able to fire in the rear arc was very unhelpful on a ship you'd want to put a forward facing build on.

Sadly, a lot of the best Romulan and Klingon ships are legendary ships. There are still plenty of decent ship for both factions, but none that I feel that fit on this list compared to what's there.
Depends on the build you're going for, but in my opinion, the Temporal Vanguard Warship is one of the best Jem'Hadar ships in the game. In fact, the Temporal Warships were on the last two Top 10 C-store ships lists, and the Jem'Hadar version is best because it gets the the Vanguard mechanic. If it weren't for the Atlantis, it would probably still be on this list.
No, the Vengeance is from the Lobi Store. So you will still be able to get it through the event campaign since this year is awarding all three prizes, so you'll be able to pick that up the Lobi you'll gain from the campaign. However, because its from the Lobi store, it will be a single character unlock. The only way to get it on an account unlock is to get it from the Mudd's Into Darkness bundle.

Advanced Engineering - Isomagnetic Plasma Distribution Manifold console. One of the new Advanced consoles introduced back in July. They've effectively replaced the old Fleet Spire consoles for energy weapon builds (except for Surgical Strikes). The components drop in Elite level TFOs, but can also be bought on the Exchange.
Ide like to do another Pet build and I know you recently made a carrier build on one of the new ships. I dont have the jarok though and thats a pretty nice console i'm missing.
It's not. If you missed the event, the only way to get the Jarok is through the Mudd's ship bundle with the first three Alliance ships, which is a lot of money to spend on three event ships, in my opinion. Jarok's console is nice, but don't let not having it hold you back from working on a pet build. You can still build up enough pet damage to get through most content without it.
It's okay. A bit dated at this point, but if you like it there's no reason to stop using it. Just because a ship isn't on this list doesn't mean it isn't good. There are a lot of ships in STO, this video is only meant to feature 10 of what I think are the best available in the c-store.

If you're using Surgical Strikes, if you want to use all Exploiters because under Surgical Strikes you'll be getting pretty much guaranteed crit hits, so it's best to just focus on getting the most out of your Crit Severity (as well as the usual energy weapon stat buffs you want, like haste and bonus damage). If you're not going with Surgical Strikes, however, you may want to mix in some Locators instead, depending on what your Crit Chance Endeavor is at.
@@Stu1701I think it's always best to have a look at your effective combat crit chance in a parse log - regardless of any firing mode. If you are at 80% effective combat CrtH with Surgical Strikes, I'd work on increasing the CrtH over CrtD.
The list being so Federation heavy is a symptom STO not releasing as many non-Federation ships as they used to. Back in the day, whenever there was a new ship release, there was a version of it for each faction. But after cross-faction flying became a thing, we saw less and less of that until they just stopped doing it. Federation ships always sell the best, so they tend to focus their efforts there. These days, the best non-Federation ships tend to be Legendary ships, which are exclusive to bundles and not considered standard c-store ships like these. This doesn't mean that there aren't any good non-Fed ships in the C-store, it's just that most of them have kinda been overshadowed by a lot of the ships that have been released in the past few years.
I know, the list is a light on sci ships. Looking back on it, the Chekov probably should've been on the main list instead of the Grissom. Premonition came out after this video, that's a solid sci ship. Same with the T6 Dyson ships, they're pretty decent sci ships; I like the Romulan one best, the Rallus.
Eternal still holds up pretty well, especially since it has a hangar bay (the others I've suggested don't). Throw some Type 7 shuttle pets in there and they'll provide some nice buffs to enemies.
I prrfer personally Terran Monitor Miracle worker Carrier Advanced Light Cruiser Dreadnought Cruiser(terran Galaxy X) I know they are not the best but I like them none the less. Not a fan of any of the ships on the list outside of the Miranda and Oberth ones.
The Mirror skin was part of the Mirror Gagarin Warship, which was an event ship. So if you don't have the Mirror Gagarin you can't use it's skin. Does the C-store Gagarin description actually say it comes with the Mirror skin or just that it can use it?

if they ever give us a better method of lowering the cooldowns on universal consoles I'll use that instead, but until then, Unconventional Systems is a very valuable personal space trait to have. The better you can use that trait, the more you can use your universal console abilities.
@@BlackNuke145 because they don't just pull a new star trek online out of their butt. They would basically abandon sto while they work for a few years on an sto sequel that hopefully makes it to launch. This is almost up there with people who say they "just" have to change the engine. I ask why would you want to kill this game when modern content shows it's more than able to put out good graphics? Remastering sections of the story to modern standards makes far more sense.
Unfortunately, most of the really good Romulan ships are Legendaries, and STO doesn't do other faction counterparts for new C-store ships anymore. There are still some good Romulan ships in there, but a lot of them are a bit dated at this point.
@@Stu1701 The Romulan Support Carrier is worth a note being the strongest carrier platform in the Cstore. With droneships its capable of doing more pet damage then just about any other carrier apart from a Valkis. It doesn't need SAD either to do record breaking pet damage output.
I don't know if I'd call the Romulan Support Carrier the strongest carrier in the cstore. it's not even a full Command ship (unlike both the Seneca and Ahwahnee). Even the Jem'Hadar version of the Support Carriers is going to be strong because it has the Vanguard Wingmen. Your claim sounds more like a statement on how powerful the Drone ship frigates are more than the Romulan Carrier itself.
@@Stu1701 I guess it depends on prospective and the build goal. The Jem'Hardar Carrier is going to do something like half the pet damage output. If the goal is to do high pet damage and go full into the Carrier playstyle with pets as the main source of damage the Romulan Carriers belong at the top as they are going to beat every other carrier platform for pet builds in terms of pet damage and keeping pets alive. The Rom Support carrier has everything high end carrier builds need to boost pets like Needs of the Many 1 (For the carrier traits) with ConFirepower 3 and access to the strongest pets in game. I like to play my Carrier as full Carriers with a focus on high pet damage over main ship weapons and all 7 starship traits boosting pets. For that Romulan Carriers are the top rank carriers. I cannot think of any better carrier platform that can beat them in terms of pet performance.
You're right that the Command seat does a lot to help, but at the same time, Lt. Commander is the bare minimum of what you'd want for supporting the pets. The Romulan Support Carrier can really only be considered the best option if you're dead-set using the Drone Frigates. And that's still assuming you're wanting to go for a full pet support build. But if you're using other pets, I don't think the Support Carrier qualifies as the best overall Carrier in the C-store. Furthermore, one of the main reasons the Ahwahnee is on the list is because of the console it comes with, which is very much part of the dps meta and useful on a large variety of energy weapon and pet builds. The Support Carrier doesn't come with a console or trait that are nearly as useful.
All of these ships look like crap. They probably work for the game and the way it's designed, but I look at these ships and I simply do NOT see Star Trek. These ships look as if they can be in ANY sci-fi franchise.
All of these ships can use other costumes, so if you don't like the look of the standard one for it, you can change it. Though honestly, I really have to disagree with your statement that they don't look like something from Star Trek considering almost all of them are based off canon ships. Yes, there are certainly design elements that look like they were inspired by other IPs, but that's bound to happen when you consider just how many ships STO has made over the years. But are Star Trek ships.
So…where are these ships? The Checkov, Atlantic and Ahwahnee do not appear on xBox as of today 3/12/24. How can I get these ships if they aren’t visible?
My opinions on the 14th Anniversary bundle were largely based off the exclusives and extras it came with. For how much it costs, the inclusion of the Tal Shiar Adapted Destroyer and Lafayette were, in my opinion, really dumb choices and totally ruined the bundle as a whole. Lafayette is an old T6 ship many already own and didn't want to pay for again, and the Adapted Destroyer just isn't worth that kind of money to have an account unlock for. The four new ships was never taken into account for the bundle's quality and value because they're not exclusive to the bundle. And only 2 of the new ships are in the Top 10. The Honorable Mentions section is not part of the list, but consists on ships that are still worth noting and I know people are going to ask about them if I don't say anything.

The Bozeman is honestly The Federation's best intel ship, full-stop. That thing is absolutely *cracked* in ways I can't begin to describe without showing gameplay of it in action, lol.
Bozeman is heavily underrated and its fleet Sojuz variant is one of the best free ships to get with fleet consoles. Very easy to build it strong with only rep gear and isomags or locators/exploiters.
Put a Ba'ul antiproton SS build on it with distributed targeting and you'll absolutely slay anything. Btw. its temoral surge trait gives you 100% crit chance for 10 seconds on EVERYTHING, including exotic damage and AOE consoles like Approaching Agony. VERY potent for high burst damage!
I just got the temporal pack (the ones with the OG series) nothing else needed!
You forgot to mention the Clark also has access to the Miranda costumes ;)

My Wife ust bought the Ahwahnee for the pets, Could use torpedoes on it and focus on the pets if she uses the ship itself...

They did make a T6 version, it's the Cyclone. They just didn't include the tail gun. Which is good, because the tail gun was stupid. If it had a 360 degree arc, it'd be fine, but only being able to fire in the rear arc was very unhelpful on a ship you'd want to put a forward facing build on.
@@Stu1701 I find it funny that the Cyclone's experimental weapon shoots every direction EXCEPT where the old tailgun could shoot :P (and another 20 degrees, but close enough)
Temporal Tunneling trait is triggered by ATB ? Did I miss something? Great video btw!
That's my bad, I mixed it up with Heart of Sol. Temporal Tunneling triggers off of Temporal abilities and other boff abilities that deal exotic damage.

Sadly, a lot of the best Romulan and Klingon ships are legendary ships. There are still plenty of decent ship for both factions, but none that I feel that fit on this list compared to what's there.

Depends on the build you're going for, but in my opinion, the Temporal Vanguard Warship is one of the best Jem'Hadar ships in the game. In fact, the Temporal Warships were on the last two Top 10 C-store ships lists, and the Jem'Hadar version is best because it gets the the Vanguard mechanic. If it weren't for the Atlantis, it would probably still be on this list.

No, the Vengeance is from the Lobi Store. So you will still be able to get it through the event campaign since this year is awarding all three prizes, so you'll be able to pick that up the Lobi you'll gain from the campaign. However, because its from the Lobi store, it will be a single character unlock. The only way to get it on an account unlock is to get it from the Mudd's Into Darkness bundle.

What is an isomag?
Advanced Engineering - Isomagnetic Plasma Distribution Manifold console. One of the new Advanced consoles introduced back in July. They've effectively replaced the old Fleet Spire consoles for energy weapon builds (except for Surgical Strikes). The components drop in Elite level TFOs, but can also be bought on the Exchange.
Ide like to do another Pet build and I know you recently made a carrier build on one of the new ships. I dont have the jarok though and thats a pretty nice console i'm missing.

It's not. If you missed the event, the only way to get the Jarok is through the Mudd's ship bundle with the first three Alliance ships, which is a lot of money to spend on three event ships, in my opinion.
Jarok's console is nice, but don't let not having it hold you back from working on a pet build. You can still build up enough pet damage to get through most content without it.
Isn't the T6 Caitian carrier a good choice? Still new here, so don't know all the nuances of the ships.
It's okay. A bit dated at this point, but if you like it there's no reason to stop using it. Just because a ship isn't on this list doesn't mean it isn't good. There are a lot of ships in STO, this video is only meant to feature 10 of what I think are the best available in the c-store.

Stu, may I ask why you choose exploiters vs locators for the hydra?
If you're using Surgical Strikes, if you want to use all Exploiters because under Surgical Strikes you'll be getting pretty much guaranteed crit hits, so it's best to just focus on getting the most out of your Crit Severity (as well as the usual energy weapon stat buffs you want, like haste and bonus damage).
If you're not going with Surgical Strikes, however, you may want to mix in some Locators instead, depending on what your Crit Chance Endeavor is at.

@@Stu1701I think it's always best to have a look at your effective combat crit chance in a parse log - regardless of any firing mode. If you are at 80% effective combat CrtH with Surgical Strikes, I'd work on increasing the CrtH over CrtD.
Are locators still better than isomags for surgical strike?
For Surgical Strikes, Vulnerability Exploiters are the best because of the Crit Severity. Isomag are better for any other kind of energy weapon build.
Why no love for the KDF ships? Or the Romulan ships for that matter...

The list being so Federation heavy is a symptom STO not releasing as many non-Federation ships as they used to. Back in the day, whenever there was a new ship release, there was a version of it for each faction. But after cross-faction flying became a thing, we saw less and less of that until they just stopped doing it. Federation ships always sell the best, so they tend to focus their efforts there.
These days, the best non-Federation ships tend to be Legendary ships, which are exclusive to bundles and not considered standard c-store ships like these. This doesn't mean that there aren't any good non-Fed ships in the C-store, it's just that most of them have kinda been overshadowed by a lot of the ships that have been released in the past few years.
Only a Curry-class would cause Kael to have a nervous breakdown.
What is the 5-2-1 layout
5-2-1 weapons layout means it has 5 fore weapons, 2 aft, and 1 experimental weapons slot.

It might be if it's cooldown was lower, but with an 8 second recharge timer, the Ravager Shriek isn't great.

I know, the list is a light on sci ships. Looking back on it, the Chekov probably should've been on the main list instead of the Grissom. Premonition came out after this video, that's a solid sci ship. Same with the T6 Dyson ships, they're pretty decent sci ships; I like the Romulan one best, the Rallus.
@@Stu1701 i’ve been using the Temporal Multi-Mission Science Vessel (Eternal) as my main for years now.
Eternal still holds up pretty well, especially since it has a hangar bay (the others I've suggested don't). Throw some Type 7 shuttle pets in there and they'll provide some nice buffs to enemies.

The Mirror skin was part of the Mirror Gagarin Warship, which was an event ship. So if you don't have the Mirror Gagarin you can't use it's skin. Does the C-store Gagarin description actually say it comes with the Mirror skin or just that it can use it?

if they ever give us a better method of lowering the cooldowns on universal consoles I'll use that instead, but until then, Unconventional Systems is a very valuable personal space trait to have. The better you can use that trait, the more you can use your universal console abilities.

@@BlackNuke145 because they don't just pull a new star trek online out of their butt. They would basically abandon sto while they work for a few years on an sto sequel that hopefully makes it to launch. This is almost up there with people who say they "just" have to change the engine.
I ask why would you want to kill this game when modern content shows it's more than able to put out good graphics? Remastering sections of the story to modern standards makes far more sense.

Unfortunately, most of the really good Romulan ships are Legendaries, and STO doesn't do other faction counterparts for new C-store ships anymore. There are still some good Romulan ships in there, but a lot of them are a bit dated at this point.
@@Stu1701 The Romulan Support Carrier is worth a note being the strongest carrier platform in the Cstore. With droneships its capable of doing more pet damage then just about any other carrier apart from a Valkis. It doesn't need SAD either to do record breaking pet damage output.
I don't know if I'd call the Romulan Support Carrier the strongest carrier in the cstore. it's not even a full Command ship (unlike both the Seneca and Ahwahnee). Even the Jem'Hadar version of the Support Carriers is going to be strong because it has the Vanguard Wingmen. Your claim sounds more like a statement on how powerful the Drone ship frigates are more than the Romulan Carrier itself.
@@Stu1701 I guess it depends on prospective and the build goal. The Jem'Hardar Carrier is going to do something like half the pet damage output. If the goal is to do high pet damage and go full into the Carrier playstyle with pets as the main source of damage the Romulan Carriers belong at the top as they are going to beat every other carrier platform for pet builds in terms of pet damage and keeping pets alive.
The Rom Support carrier has everything high end carrier builds need to boost pets like Needs of the Many 1 (For the carrier traits) with ConFirepower 3 and access to the strongest pets in game. I like to play my Carrier as full Carriers with a focus on high pet damage over main ship weapons and all 7 starship traits boosting pets. For that Romulan Carriers are the top rank carriers. I cannot think of any better carrier platform that can beat them in terms of pet performance.
You're right that the Command seat does a lot to help, but at the same time, Lt. Commander is the bare minimum of what you'd want for supporting the pets. The Romulan Support Carrier can really only be considered the best option if you're dead-set using the Drone Frigates. And that's still assuming you're wanting to go for a full pet support build. But if you're using other pets, I don't think the Support Carrier qualifies as the best overall Carrier in the C-store.
Furthermore, one of the main reasons the Ahwahnee is on the list is because of the console it comes with, which is very much part of the dps meta and useful on a large variety of energy weapon and pet builds. The Support Carrier doesn't come with a console or trait that are nearly as useful.

Some are fairly old, but some ships in the video are very new. What's your point?
All of these ships look like crap. They probably work for the game and the way it's designed, but I look at these ships and I simply do NOT see Star Trek. These ships look as if they can be in ANY sci-fi franchise.
All of these ships can use other costumes, so if you don't like the look of the standard one for it, you can change it.
Though honestly, I really have to disagree with your statement that they don't look like something from Star Trek considering almost all of them are based off canon ships. Yes, there are certainly design elements that look like they were inspired by other IPs, but that's bound to happen when you consider just how many ships STO has made over the years. But are Star Trek ships.

Console will have the ships from the 14th anniversary bundle (Atlantis, Chekov, Ahwahnee, and Princeton) on March 28th.

the new bundle is crap screamed every content creator, now 3 of the 4 ships make it into top 10 lists.
My opinions on the 14th Anniversary bundle were largely based off the exclusives and extras it came with. For how much it costs, the inclusion of the Tal Shiar Adapted Destroyer and Lafayette were, in my opinion, really dumb choices and totally ruined the bundle as a whole. Lafayette is an old T6 ship many already own and didn't want to pay for again, and the Adapted Destroyer just isn't worth that kind of money to have an account unlock for. The four new ships was never taken into account for the bundle's quality and value because they're not exclusive to the bundle.
And only 2 of the new ships are in the Top 10. The Honorable Mentions section is not part of the list, but consists on ships that are still worth noting and I know people are going to ask about them if I don't say anything.
