Just wanted to say thank you! I'm a new player to STO and to star trek as a whole. Your videos have allowed a new player like me to easily understand some of the more intimidating parts of a new MMO. And by easily understanding them keeps me wanting to play and enjoy STO. Please keep up the awesome videos coming!
There is one more source of bountiful reputation marks rewards: The seasonal events. For example, on Risa you can exchange tropical birds and monkeys for marks. At the Winter Festival, you can collect Christmas decorations and then exchange them for marks.
For new/er players who still have all the Reputations or most of them not Sponsored yet(taken to Tier V) there is an amazing shortcut. The special Jem'Hadar Vanguard race. C-Store purchase of by itself for 600 zen or the best budget friendly option the Gamma Vanguard Starter Pack for 2000 zen. It comes with the T6 Jem'Hadar Vanguard Dreadnaught Cruiser and the Vanguard sub race. On sale, this pack can cost 1300 zen. The Jem'Hadar Vanguard race begins with all the Reputations Sponsored except for Discovery Legends and the Gamma Task Force. Reiterating, this means instead of each daily 2500k Rep XP mission, those that are sponsored give you 5k Rep XP instead. Cutting the time and resources to Tier 5 in half. Because the Vanguard race starts with 11 Reputations sponsored, once you finish the tutorial and become pare of either the Federation or KDF faction, those 11 sponsored Reputations will now count as account wide unlock as if you had grinded them out. So if you are a newer player and havent filled out your Reputations yet and enjoy playing this game, I would buy the Gamma Vanguard Starter Pack, best time when on sale and benefit from an exponetial increase to the Rep Grind and a really fun different type of ship for your whole account.
Not the case anymore? "The Jem'Hadar Vanguard race begins with all the Reputations Sponsored except for Discovery Legends and the Gamma Task Force." My main I last played before reputation existed, so I just bought that starter pack and created a Jem-Hadar Vanguard character today. I've completed the tutorial and now am being prompted to complete "Frenzy" in DS9. My reputation screen shows level 5 for TF Omega, Nukara Strikeforce, and Iconian Resistance, but still level 0 for everything else. However, switching back to my main, it DOES look like all of the reputation dailes are going to reward me 5k instead of 2.5, except just those two you mentioned. Seems weird to me but I'm not complaining.
@@Keithustus Right. It only is "sponsored", so it gives the 5k Rep XP as if they were Level 5. It doesn't take them up to Level 5, just makes it take half the time to grind them up.
@@gameburn178 Ship is fairly decent, especially for levelling characters. It has the Vanguard Wingmen mechanic and a hanger bay. It's just all around the best purchase for a new player or first time buyer. After the EC cap limit increase.
Thanks for these! I've been playing for a loooong time (almost since launch), but I use your videos as a reference for newer friends! Thanks for providing the community with a great resource! Side note: I *really* wish they would add a "Join Random (Space)" and "Join Random (Ground)" option for slightly less rewards. I'm almost at the point that I'm willing to rage quit ground missions and take the leaver penalty to avoid playing ground.
Thanks McSTU! Been playing a year now but always new things to learn as i did not know how to use the Temporal recruits properly. Keep this up it will help the new players a ton (as STO is so complicated for new players to learn). 😊
I'm new to the game, but 2 things I love about it: (1) it's very wonky, great for detail and stats. Suits players with an interest in incremental improvement and educating yourself about a game. And (2)nd, the game is clearly aimed at the endgame, no pretense of being about a leveling experience. I mean you can level in a week and mostly with roster stuff. This is so refreshing, most mmorpgs seem apologetic about this, lol. Subscribing to MC Stu is an obvious thing to do in this regard. Going to stay.
What kills me is the waiting, it's an eternity. I got my first rank 6 recently but I'll have to wait 18 days to reach 6 in other reputations. Just to get the fleet modules and get my hands on a t6 ship. Everyone around me in t6 ships while I'm stuck in a t5. The Fleet Jem'Hadar Vanguard Support Carrier is my ultimate goal in this game.
@@doubt3430 If any event with ships arrives at the game do It. They give T6 ships that can be used with any captain in your account. I don't know if the event still on, but you can get a Klingon T6 ship in 1 or 2 yours of gameplay If you have a "Delta Recruit" captain in your account. Edit: You play on PC? I was booking for someone that plays STO.
Tip: Make Science and Engineering Jem hadar account first. you get extra Experience boost on 3 reputations. You do need to start a reputation on lvl 5 reputations on those jem hadar accounts to get the boost
You know the problem I have is earning enough marks to do these I have several toons and am trying to get them set up in R&D and so on as well as trying to wuest and have fun but the TFO's just don't give me enough marks is there an easier way to earn marks. I will work on everything you are speaking on today and just keep working at it maybe do some elite stuff but I have no friends on this game so I am a random. What about non-temporal agent like my Jemhadar
Played for ages, I despise the 20hr wait so much. It’s insufferably annoying to have to log in each day just to hit 3 buttons. For most of the rep systems I want, I’ve played long enough to not need more marks or ec etc to get it to tier 6. Id love a option for a In game by out for the whole deal or even just 1 tier at a time. Like just put in the same amount of marks n ec so on that you would have done over a month of daily log ins, but all at once. That at least should be an option for ppl who got the lifetime sub deal. Would certainly be a good quality of life improvement.
Making gear eats up your marks without increasing your reputation. When you get to tier 6 you don't get the account wide discount or fleet modules as a reward. You have to grind for them individually.
I have 2 completely filled, so im sponsored... But i kinds burned out on the daily grind... i mean, if you have everything, what then ?... you know ?.. it seems pointless.. I will never be a DPS chaser, so what else is there ?... Nothing.. I log in now and then, do a few TFO's for the fleet, and thats it. there is no more fun in it for me. Sorry to nag, but thats how it is for me.
@@balung I have seen Startrek since the beginning, on TV. Every episode of every series. yes, i'm that old. Also, i have seen all the films, more then once. So i'd say that makes me a 'Trekkie", don't you think ?... Its not that i am tired of startrek, more like i'm tired of how Cryptic handles startrek. Plus the fact that if you don't like DPS chasing, there is nothing else to do, once you have everything there is to have. I'd say that a single new episode every few months is starving the player-base. I have spend thousands of Euro's onto this game, and i had my fun, but now... I think its done. I'll keep feeding my fleet for now.. ever so often, but that is it... And WOW ?... not my kind of game. I tried ESO, but that game is ... not fair, lets leave it at that.
Whats hilarious is, he doesn't say nothing about the buyout to tier 5 lol lol lol you can buyout to tier 5 and hurry and finish to tier 6 its that simple 🤣🤣

Dont forget about the rep and fleet mark boosts you can get on the exchange or from fleetmates
Recently I found out that pressing ctrl while doing the fill all, saves you the confirm popup

Yeah same
It's such a slog
And the alternative is spending and equally long amount of time just getting the Ec to get 1

Why aren't you having to spend Dilithium when doing your dailies? Every one of mine shows EC Dil Marks must be spent to run any project.
The leveling projects, the top ones, don't require dil. You get dil upon completion of each. They require EC. The gear projects do require dil.
@@MCStu I see now. Thanks. Great videos. You are the reason why I continue to play or more like never gave up. 🤙🏽
when was the last time we had a rep to work on? seems like it's been so long
Disco, 3 years or so....

Also, the hourly that pays 400 rep will eventually stop paying as well. You have to hover over the rep reward to find out.
Need a gamma recruit don't have one of them. And need a new rep
Oh dont worry..its still that way on console..can never make it easy..glad ill be switching back to pc as soon as i upgrade

ground is way more fun than space
New characters don't have cash, that's okay, we know, everything's good.
Way to much grind to get elite gear. Same with dc universe online.

Romulans like the jem hadar need their own temp agents imo...
