Whatever Jed does, I would assume that in a year or two if the Cubs are not significantly better, then there will be someone new as the team President.

Jed may make a decent POBO for another organization, but not a major-market organization.

It seems that Jed is always holding out for the perfect deal as opposed to getting the right player.

You’re way more optimistic than me, maybe your sources know things 😂
Jed did a great job in winning deals with Cody and Imanaga but that could be the issue. This front office has to win every deal.
Sometimes it has to be win win or you have to take less to get the guy you’re internal people are drooling over. Getting a catcher has a lot of value for next year and some more pitching could reallocate payroll to the lineup which stinks
Just think if Dansby, c, PCA are 7,8,9 in this lineup, where are the next batch up prospects going to bat when they come up and need a soft landing spot to develop?
This is the flaw in this roster right now. Nico isn’t a lead off hitter either so unless Shaw caissie moballer are prodigies that can show up and just hit in the middle of the order no problem we are going to experience more pain as fans

I read that the Padres, among other teams, have been interested in Jameson Taillon but they want the Cubs to pick up some of his salary for the next three years. If that’s what other teams are asking for, then I’d just keep him.
I’m not expecting the Cubs to make a big splash. But, nothing would surprise me. They might deal some established bullpen guys, like Neris. If Hoyer is holding out for a big return, then that’s the right move; don’t just trade for the sake of trading or to appease the sports talk show guys. There are rumors that the Dodgers and Braves are interested in Nico Hoerner, but the Cubs have him under control for another two years and he can be a real catalyst in the lineup and he’s a solid second baseman, so I’m hoping he’s not going anywhere.
I wonder if the Cubs were trying to make Dansby Swanson into more of a pull hitter and have scrapped the idea because I’m seeing Swanson go the opposite way more in the last few days than I’ve seen him do most of the rest of year. Hitting the ball to all fields has always been his strength, and trying to become a pull hitter can really mess up a hitter’s timing.
All I want from the Cubs for the final two months of the season is to see a healthy roster on the field….minimize the one-run losses….and finish stronger than they did last September. Plus, to see them finish over .500, which is not out of the question. For as rough as this season has been, they’re only 6 games under and right now they have a shot at finishing over .500 for the month of July. I think their record for July is at 11-10.
I did see that Adbert Alzolay and Keegan Thompson are pitching in Iowa now, and, hopefully, others will be back in August.

What’s the deal with Horton? He hit a speed bump in AAA? Lemme guess injuries are stunting his progression like rest of prospects and recent past ones that are now at bottom of list or out of organization or failing miserably at mlb level. No good news so sounds about right

It would feel bad to help make the Astros, Yankees, or Dodgers get better. Have to do what’s best for your own roster, though.

If your bullpen sucks why trade Liter? You need him and he is still cheap. Nico has been improving so yeah it would have to be amazing deal for the Cubs. I wish they could trade Swanson, Happ, and Sazuki. Top three paid players that definitely have not played thier salary since they have been here. Get rid of then if you can, but of course the dumb contracts they have, it would be a miracle.

If we had any bats with consistent high level production on a yearly basis the Cody panic signing doesn’t happen.
He’s not the star bat he was last season, he’s the same guy from 2020-22 with slightly more production. His absence along with Swansons dead weight salary has doomed the offense. Another overpaid player with a career 3 WAR average

Imanaga wasn't enough for this year. I, personally have zero confidence in Hoyer. Thanks Mick.

  • @thegreattesm

Despite emotions, I think Hoyer is a mix of good and bad with his moves.
I think he's been weakest in his selective aggression. The big moves he's made have been flat (e.g, Swanson) while small and mid tier have been decent.
The big moves put you over the top and he hasn't done it.

Mick, how can you say Jed has done well at the deadline? He's been awful, Kimbrel trade to cws? Last year your buddy Cuas and getting rid of Hertz? That Kimbrel trade pisses me off still. Best closer in the league at the time and you get dog shit back. Fire Jed

Hoyer sits always and does nothing. What has he done? Who has he brought here? Easy answer look where the Cubs sit today! 5 years and he's only made the Cubs worse! Bellinger is an average ball player overall when you look at his year in the MLB. HOYER NEEDS TO GO AND COMPLETE REBUILD HAS TO BEGIN!!!! # FIRE HOYER!!!!

    • @chicagodude8888
      @chicagodude8888 2 месяца назад +1

Bellinger was a desperation signing thanks to no star power in the lineup. Signing him was a Hail Mary attempt hoping the 2023 Cody is the guy they’re paying and not the guy from 2020-22, 24.
For a career 5 WAR guy you could’ve paid Simean the same amount as you did career 3 WAR Dansby.
Instead he gambles on Suzuki for lesser $ hoping to find a diamond in the rough. Worked for Shotah, not him. That happens when you sign unproven players.

They'll make some meaningless trades, but won't have any affect, certain teams continue to reload, cubs pick up scraps, they could fix 3rd base, but won't happen, but they'll up ticket prices more, food prices, any other things,an as far as injuries,it's how they train, bulk up get hurt more, not like the old days, pitchers had a lot of complete games, not anymore

That's an interesting premise-- all of the weight training actually leads to more injuries. That seems very plausible. Baseball players don't need to be physically imposing like football, hockey and basketball players since the game isn't designed for contact. Obviously, power hitters need to have some strength, but historically, the greatest hitters and pitchers have had pretty average physiques. Baseball players need to have strength that's nontraditional and not the kind you can get by the usual weightlifting methods.

@@XCal1bur23 building up your muscles doesn't build up your tendons or joints, puts pressure on them, also there was a time before everyone building muscles now days that pitchers routinely had complete games,Fergie Jenkins in his Cy young year had 31 complete games,Bob Gipson in 68 had 28 complete games, that was normal, they didn't lift weights, everyone I know who's a weight lifter, eventually has some surgeries,I myself has a bad hip, don't look it anymore but was once in really good shape, being in shape is chuck Norris, but believe what you want,an maybe you should look at another of these big body builders, dieing, even another of things they take not healthy,Jaun Marichel of the giants went 15 inning, wasn't first or last long game, but I'm wrong
