Rise of the Resistance Opening Day | New GALAXY'S EDGE Food! [Disneyland]

- Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is FINALLY open at Disneyland Resort in California and we were there bright and early on opening day to experience the madness and take our chances at acquiring a boarding pass for this awesome new ride.
We left our house around 4:30am to arrive at Disneyland at 5:20. Parking was a breeze and security lines took no time at all. We were actually pretty shocked at how smooth everything was. The reason we showed up so early before the park opened is that no one really knew when the security lines and gates would open and didn't want to be stuck outside at 8am. In order to get a boarding pass for Rise of the Resistance, you need to be inside Disneyland Park with your park ticket scanned by 8am. Once 8am hits (or whenever the park opens that day), you need to be logged on to the Disneyland app with your ticket linked in order to try to get a boarding pass to enter the virtual queue. If you prefer to do things the old fashioned way, there are also stations set up around the park that hand out hard copies of the boarding passes. On opening day the boarding passes were completely sold out by 8:03am which is just insane. We got very lucky and got into boarding group 35!! Others around us were not as lucky, so it is truly a lottery system and really the luck of the draw.
After securing boarding passes, we made our way to Galaxy's Edge to try some of the new drinks and food that debuted January 17th, 2020 - here is the stuff we tried:
Toydaria Swirl: Green milk, chili swirl, and mango jellies - $8.79
Gamma Garlic Puffed Cheese Chips: white cheddar and Parmesan cheese - $6.00
Black Spire Hot Chocolate: brown sugar buttercream shimmer whipped cream - $3.79
All of the new food and drink items were very delicious, although Peter didn't end up loving the Toydaria Swirl as much as Kitra did. We ran into some RUclipsrs we enjoy, including The Dan-o Channel, Adam The Woo, and Best Life & Beyond. We finally boarded our boarding group around 1pm and... oh man this the BEST RIDE EVER! I got into a boarding group on Saturday morning there. I have never heard such a massive silence in a theme park followed by such a simultaneous eruption of cheering and reaction from so many people at once. It was kind of amazing.

I was there also, in line at 2:30am! I loved the food as well, the hot chocolate was great - it was the first time in Disney I've had a hot chocolate I really liked. I hope all of the new foods stick around for some time, going back in March...

Best. Video. Ever. This was by far the best Ordinary Adventures video you've made so far. My daughter was sick over the weekend and we didn't go, and she had to work today so I will have to wait for the next opportunity to go, which should be in a month, when I will have time off to go. You guys have the most fun and today was definitely out of this world and one that will be hard to beat. Thanks for the fun.

We rode Rise at Disney World at the end of December and had the same experience. We were there a little after 5am but quickly realized that we were all going to have the same chance of getting a boarding group. A lot of us had issues. When I was adding my family, it said only 2 out of 4 of us were in the park (we were all there and used our magic bands to get in). Guest services was able to help and added the other two. We ended up with boarding group 82 and got on the ride in the early afternoon. So worth it. It’s my new favorite ride in all of Disney World!

We finally were able to get a boarding group this past weekend for the Rise of the Resistance. First time ever and oh my god it was crazy awesome! I cried a few got emotional you can see it on my video. The first order cast/ actor was asking if I was ok as my face was so red. It felt like were part of the movie. We loved it! Can’t wait to ride it again. I noticed Peter did it here first then in Cali. Thanks for sharing that awesome experience with us.

I was in Galaxy Edge Orlando, FL location and people were there at 5 am. I got there at 6 am (January 21, 2020). I was able to secure Group 29 at 7 AM on the Virtual App. I was SO very happy to ride Rise of the Resistance!! AMAZING....

I Traveled to Disney World for Christmas vacation. It was nice except for the rain. I visited Galaxy Edge. After three days of trying to join a boarding party for Rise of the Resistance I failed, no matter what time. It was not unexpected. Hopefully in the future, it will be more accessible .
I admire that you have the time , and proximity to visit so often.
As for Galaxy’s Edge, I was expecting so much more. Hopefully, Disney will continue to add, upgrade, and expand to the area, so that every few years out of town visitors, like myself, can enjoy it a lot more

I cant stress enough the importance of making sure your park tickets are linked to the Disney App as soon as you get them. I went to the Orlando opening, got there at 5am , they opened the parked at 6 I believe but I made the rookie mistake of not having the actual parks tickets (I thought the “ticket” purchased trough the app would do), so I had to run to Guest Services to get my tickets and then link them to the app, which didnt go as smooth either because not all members of my party would show up! Fortunately a CM was able to help us fairly quick (we weren’t the only ones with the exact same issue).
After all that hassle, we were finally able to join a boarding group. Finally I will suggest to stick around until the closing time because even when all boarding groups were distributed, they allowed walk-ins.

Me and my dad were there but didn't get on the ride because when we got there it was 8:20 and by then the passes were gone so we went on day 2 for there at 5:30 in the morning and we were on boarding group 58 it was amazing

I had boarding group 124 on Sunday, but didn’t get close to getting called as the ride went time multiple times for extended periods. We are trying again tomorrow.

We met 2 couples with boarding group #'s 96 and 108, man was it nerve wrecking reading about the 82 limit but its surpassed that since it opened and the attraction closes about an hr early everyday, at least that's what the app says when checking.

So fun to see how excited people get when their BG comes through. It's a great energy. Too bad it's so random. My wife was the star for us as she got BG 22 when we went at WDW. A minute later and it was in the 90's. Hope it gets better next time we're there.

Went Sunday It was great (group 29) so even though it broke down a lot we got on pretty easily
geez that crowd is crazy. I wouldn't be surprised if some of those waiting folks at the beginning were playing pokemon go. (spawns are determined by activity, more people = more activity). On a different note that opening reminds me of first hour of WoW:Classic. The chaos is always fun.

Another essential tip is you need to have location enabled on your phone with the Disneyland app or it might kick you out, not knowing you’re in the park! Watched another RUclips that had that happen and missed out!

My family and I were slightly messed over at Hollywood Studios. When they opened Rise in Florida in December, I opted to take my daughters to see if we could get in. They VOLUNTARILY woke up at 4 am to get there, and we were allowed into the park at 5:48. Apparently, this was the problem. Because our annual passes were not read accurately by Disney's system (which wakes up at 6am, apparently), we were not technically in the park. So when I tried to get us into a boarding group, it would not let me in because it could not tell we were at the park.
I was told by a cast member that we could go to guest services and fix the problem, but that meant joining what appeared to be hundreds of other guests crowding around a tent. As opposed to standing in line, we opted to use the fast passes for the rides I had obtained, since that would be more fun for an 8 and 11 year old than standing in line with a bunch of angry people.
After the rides, I did speak to a cast member, who got me into group 100 (or something like that), and explained that I might have a chance at getting in. She also said that I could go to guest services at the front and MAYBE get into an earlier group. I did, and the guy moved me up to group 90.
We left the park at 8:15, opting not to wait.
As an aside, group 90 boarded at 4:05.
I communicated the incident with Disney, and how disappointing it was that as a passholder I was somewhat hurt by their ticketing system glitch. Their emailed response was on par with, "We're sorry. But oh, well."
It was not my favorite Disney memory.

I'm going on Thursday in hopes of getting a boarding group for Rise! I'm excited but preparing not being able to ride. Im eager to try the hot chocolate!
I thought I saw you guys! I should’ve said hi. I was right at the statue when getting the boarding pass. I was group 102 and got on that day. Tried again Saturday and Sunday but it didn’t work. I think on Saturday they got up to 94 and on Sunday they only got up to low 80s. The ride had a perfect day on Friday with minimal breakdowns.
I went in line at city hall right away on Saturday because the app wasn’t connecting the max passed. There were so many people pissed. Full on adult tears and yelling at cast members. Couldn’t believe the sense of entitlement for some of these folks that they felt like they deserved to get on the ride because they dropped $3000 on a vacation to be there. Idk what they expected on opening weekend. I still remember the days when finding Nemo was an 8 hour queue when it opened prior to even maxpass being a thing.
But anyway, It looks like you guys had fun!
Thought for sure you’d get a black crystal this time. I was there the day after launch day(live in MN but wife had a work trip that put us out there with perfect timing to ride the new ride) and again on Monday. I had only ever previously been to Florida’s Galaxy’s Edge back in October and bought 2 crystals then that were both red. I bought one there in Disneyland on Saturday and just about fainted when I saw it was a black one. We came back Monday and the kid building a lightsaber next to me said he got a black crystal too, so I thought maybe they upped the chances of finding one for the launch weekend or something. Somehow I got one on my third try, so don’t give up! I’m sure you will find one!

We were 39 on opening day and today we were boarding group 10 the first group with our 4 yr old. We rode both rides in Galaxy edge and also Star Tours by 10:15am very lucky.
