I bought this band saw a while ago. It's done perfectly for the past months for hobbyist use. It can even cut tool steel (unhardened) without any problem. The saw blades can last up to a few months if you use them properly. Plus, when a blade dulls or snaps, you can still use the good quality spring-like steel for some project (e.g. whittling knives). I also love the fact that you can detach the tool from its base and use it freehanded on workpieces you can't clamp in the vise. In the end, I feel like this band saw was one of the best tools I have ever bought for its price.
Thank you for watching and taking the time to share your experience Nicholas. Lots of people seem to bash these products from Vevor, but this saw doesn't seem bad to me. I have used mine a lot since this video and it's still on its original blade. There are probably better saws, but they probably cost way more money.
I had this saw for 2 years now, and it works really good for a hobbyist. I'm building a Locost (Lotus 7 style car) and I have cut the whole frame with this saw. Now I'm modifying it to become a vertical band saw. Need to make the header for the car(icengineworks style with the lego parts). Removed it from it's mounting bracket, purchased 2 L framing brackets from HD, welded them together and some scrap 3/4" tubes between the two legs, to be able to hold the whole assembly in it's own vise. To hold it vertically, I have used a steel U channel with very short legs from HD. Removed two screws from the plastic cover at the blade side and another screw at the bottom middle. Welded these U channels to the mounting base. Got a 12"x12"x 1/8th plate from the Bay. Milled a slot(3/16th) for the blade and drilled and countersunk two holes to mount it to the saw.
hye mmike thanks for this review. i just got mine and wasn't sure which side i had to remove to put on the blade so figured i might as well youtube it.
I'm into fabricating I have a full size horizontal band saw,but it's big and takes up space while I use it,anyway,I want a smaller one where I can put it in my tail gate,my question is do you think this tool will last,as far as motor and and the bearings for the guide
Thanks for watching Charles. I have been using mine since I made the review video a couple months ago, but not extensively. Everything seems to be pretty well built considering what they charge for one of these. What type of materials do you plan to cut?
I'm sorry about this. I must have got a bad mix when I made this video. You are not the first one to mention this. It has been noted, and in future videos I think I will be more hesitant to use as much music and when I do, I will knock it down a few notches. I have software that does all of this mixing, and I think I had the wrong settings for this video.
Ha ha Thanks Rusty! Stupid me, I filmed for a couple hours that evening with a brand new microphone to improve my sound on camera, and forgot to turn the darn thing on. Question... Are you really Dale Gribble?
Thanks for watching AL. I believe that it would undoubtedly work on bones very well. Are they big bones that would clamp in the vise on this saw? That would be the only issue that I could think of. This saw is one of the best free things that I had sent to me. It has proven itself quite useful.
@@themostlymikeshow Hi thanks for replying so fast, appreciate it. No the bones arent too big, just kangaroo tail pieces and lamb necks. Just too big for my little dogs. I can use the hacksaw but its a hard job and i have a lot of bones every month. I was also told that metal blades leave metal shavings when used and not safe for doing food and could be damaging my dogs internally. Not sure if thats true or not. Ive been using the hacksaw for years no issues
@AL-ru3nk I wouldn't think that this would be any different than the band saw blades. It appears to be the same material, only this would be like stroking it One Direction, which would seem to me like it would be less likely to deposit any small pieces of metal, but you never really know. I am definitely not used to hearing about kangaroo bones, being that I live in the USA, LOL. Always wanted to visit Australia!
@@themostlymikeshow I can understand cutting metal would leave metal shavings but i cant see how the actual blade would give off shavings on its own when cutting bones. Im sure butchers just use a normal metal blade to cut their meat and bones. Hope you get to visit us here in Oz soon 🐱
Thanks for watching Luke. I believe that there's just one bolt to remove, and it can be used off the base. I never thought to mention that in the video. Sorry about that.
Thanks for watching Voodoo Ranger. The saw seems solid, but I can take a closer look at that pivot and see if I can foresee any play. I was actually pretty amazed at the quality of the miter cuts that it made on two inch square tube. It's been several months since I filmed that, and have used it pretty often, but not extensively. I am amazed that the original blade is still holding up. My expectations weren't very high on the factory blades, but they seem pretty decent.
Thanks for watching. Mine has been holding up well so far and gets a decent amount of use. It was free for making this review video, and so far exceeded my expectations.
It is a general message (I have others) that I post when I see what bothers me. Look for example at the videos of “Black Bear Forge” or “PASK Makes”. They are clean, simple; they bring knowledge. Another mistake many make is with close up images, seeing what they do is as annoying as trying to read a book 6 inches from our nose. I recommend spreading this for the good of all.
How annoying those videos that make you dizzy when not using support such as a tripod to stabilize the image, zooming in and out at high speed, fast image switching, etc.!
Thanks for watching CaptCha. I'm confused though... Are you saying that my video doesn't use that stuff, or just venting about the others that do that stuff? I tend to probably overproduce my product reviews, and tried to be as clear on the audio and get all the right camera shots to engage my audience better.
I hope Vevor appreciates the pro they got to promote this @$$ kicking saw , have to give this some thought but I think I would play around with it more than I need it 🤷 Vevor I mean how many commercials can you work the term jerk off in 😆its brilliant and juvenile..... so me 💪
Ha ha ha! Thanks for watching and the kind words Bill! I had fun making this one because I always wanted one of these saws. It's fun thinking "Hmmm... What should I cut next?" 🤔 There's definitely going to be some fabrication videos in the future!

These elements are also distraction, which undermine the message they want to show." "Either one language or the other, not both in tandem. Thumbs down until you learn to edit!" Granted, they sent this to me for free to make the video, but if I find anything wrong, I always let people know in the videos. What bad experience did you have?
Thanks for watching! Please give this a thumbs up or down if you liked or didn’t! It helps get the video shared with more people!
high quality camera. high quality audio. high quality editing. high quality content. great job sir! 👍🏻

Wow that's quite the project, both the car and the saw modifications! Is the Locost a car that you drive, or a model? Thank you for sharing.
@@themostlymikeshow I will drive it, when it will be done.
This was great to watch. If it wasn't close to midnight i'd be outside trying it.! Thanks for the class.

Thanks for watching HHN. I hope that the video helped you.
Can it easily be removed from the stand for larger hand held cuts?
Thanks for watching Mike. I think that it's just one bolt holding it on, but I'll have to look later. I'm at work now.
Impressive!

Superb. Much more better & safe than those 12-14" exposed high speed chop, miter, compound, cuf off saw, angle grinder. 👍🤗🏆💐
Thanks for watching and the kind words Pritam!
Hi, how loud is it? My primary reason for switching to this from chopsaw is to have a quieter saw.
Hi Jatwang. It's very quiet in comparison to a chop saw. In my opinion, it makes a way nicer cut. Thanks for watching.
@@themostlymikeshow Can you give me a decibel for this when in cutting
@jatwangismyname900 I would, but I don't have a decibel meter.

Hahaha. That's the most badass sounding porta band I've ever seen.

Do you not use oil when cutting with your bandsaw?
Thanks for watching Patrick. No, I do not on the stuff that I cut here.. Maybe I would on some solid bar. It does pretty good without oil.
Ive been using a hacksaw with a metal blade to cut up bones for my dogs. Would this work for bones

The saw itself looks more like Harbor Freight's Bauer line power bandsaw.
