Actually, 3398 is 45% more than 2344 And 2344 is 31% LESS than 3398. You can't just reverse less/more numbers and expect it to be accurate I'll give you an example on simpler numbers: 100 vs 200 200 is 100% more than 100 (basically it's double) But 100 is 50% of 200 So you get a different result depending on which value is compared against which and you seemed to mix the two. Also, your AED vs SAED comparison didn't take into account fact that SAED burns all your phials and AED only one. Someone already wrote a comment about that, so I won't get into details, but it heavily influences the calculations of its efficiency. Also, one more mention - the 20% in Sunny video is actually the damage difference between charged vs uncharged axe/phial attacks. All the clips from sunny you use here are actually AEDs, and not SAEDs with a missing hit, like you claim in your video.
thank you for your comment. i understand what you mean. and thank you for pointing out. I got mixed up! That 30% is the damage difference against SAED. (3398-2344)/3398 x100% = 31% SAED is indeed ‘45% more’ than AED. that means, more time to charge shield! 😂 understand the concern about SAED burning all phials while AED only burning one. i have addressed that in my reply to @jonahfarc i had got in touch with Sunny prior to get his thoughts. understand that the demonstration shows just Axe/AED attacks with/without red shield. The hits missed were against his intention though 😅 and in my local community, it was taken as AED vs SAED initially 😓

This is an excellent video. This was the exact type of information I was looking for. I'm working on building out my main armor set, and am tryi g to figure out the best skills. Thanks!
Really good video with great, well researched information and beginner friendly builds. However, the AED/SAED comparison seems a bit off to me in this particular video. It first doesn't even address that SAED burns all phials and must recharge while AED allows you to continue with ED2 loops or simply firing another AED. It also assumes you aren't charging shield for AED which seems backwards as it is easier to maintain charged shield with AED than with SAED playstyle. That 30% sounds a lot more daunting until you have to consider the axe mode's significantly damage and that SAED is forced into significantly more sword mode time. An additional aside is that the special complements the AED playstyle significantly more as you can use an AED, cancel it with the special, and you'll remain in axe mode to throw another AED or use an ED2. This is advantageous for AED as you will have phials leftover from this and the AED->SP combo will often force a part break or stagger which gives you a window to AED again. Additionally, it's just more phials to fish for an earlier KO on impact phial. Given this info, I'd like to know if you still believe SAED is more worth it than AED, and if so why? In terms of build, I do also think the advantage of Focus 2 should have been mentioned if Quick Work is to be mentioned. Focus 2 allows you specifically to hit red with 2 spinning slashes and a charged double slash. This has two main use cases: starting far from enemy and after charging shield. Starting far makes you slide forward which leads into a spinning slash, while charging shield is already a spinning slash (elemental roundslash technically but same phial gain and damage). These can immediately be followed by the Charged Double Slash into spinning slash combo which will give you red gauge immediately. If you have a particular reason against it, I'd also like to know why you particularly dislike it (especially given it only costs one slot). Last aside is I think it would have been worth mentioning that beyond the 10% damage difference, Jagras CB isn't worth building in ANY scenario particularly because of the impact phial type. This could serve to be a problem for future charge blades down the line as well so I think it would have been nice to see that mentioned.
hello! thank you for your comment and for inviting this discussion. i indeed had left out presenting that AED only uses up 1 phial, while SAED uses up everything, i shouldve made an emphasis that for SAED, upon getting red gauge in sword mode, use shortcut combos into SAED and repeat - to make it *somewhat* worth the 30% increased damage. it is hard, if not impossible to pull off for 42 seconds. hence my suggested playstyle for SAED (07:55 - Second Caveat of SEAD) is that if you have 1-2 phials left, consider putting that into your shield, get red gauge and aim for a 5 phial SAED in quick succession. this is certainly a handy burst during moments where you anticipate a monster opening coming soon. for channelling all 5 phials into your shield - i don’t think that’s necessary, unless you like to play with Guard Points. for Focus 2 into red gauge, that certainly presents a similar advantage to QW 2. i am awaiting more testings & gameplay to look into the nuances of running focus 2 and how it translates. (like would focus 2 lead to unwanted overcharging, with faster charges also mean more of a need to transition, etc) but definitely the playstyle you mentioned above is efficient and it is very understandable if you prefer to run it over qw2. and yeah for the Jagras CB coming with impact phials (so cursed!)- i should’ve made a mention of that.
@@monsterhunternowsg So watching that segment, I think I'm understanding that you aren't intending to spam SAED for the whole duration but to use it if the opportunity arises. In this more direct comparison I can understand why you're comparing a singular SAED to an AED as you are comparing it in an individual window. However, I still find it important to consider the cost of having to build red, charge, expend, build, and charge again compared to just throwing out an AED and shortcutting into another AED or any other axe mode. While I'm not confident this could be mathematically analyzed for all scenarios, It may be worth evaluating time spent getting back to axe mode attacking after SAED vs after an AED (due to recharging phials etc). Also, I do find it worth questioning also if charging shield is actually worth it. Assuming an initial 5 phial charge that's 42 seconds of duration for a 20% buff. Considering that 20% ONLY affects axe mode, we'll say you're in sword roughly 1/4 of the time (This is generously low, especially if you're SAEDing). That means you have to charge shield in roughly 6 seconds to break even with the shield buff, much less actually profit from it. Later shield charges can theoretically have an argument but you can assert similar logic in that shield charging is often less dps than an ed2/aed and you always have to immediately rebuild, which doesn't necessarily occur with just swinging the axe.

Have just watched both parts, really helpful, was waiting for your guide ngl. Still have some questions about the weapon in this game in particular because haven't started playing until a month ago so I don't have the resources to test everything out :/ In the fire set, wouldn't be better to go for Anja, Rath, Anja, Rath and Kulu? for pure dmg without lock on I mean. Focus benefits CB in the main attack where you hold down to charge your sword, and in main games it also helped to build up the yellow and red phials glow, it may help to get it to yellow in just one sword charge or into red with tap, hold, tap follow up attack (the roundslash one) One thing I didn't see mentioned was the free SAED cancelled into AED, which is really useful for KOing monsters or tagetting certain parts to break And just one last thing that I was actually able to test is that charged up red shield is as strong as the Lance shield, like in main games, and the guard point you get from Hold+swipe up is as strong as the perfect guard on Lance when you go the counter on that said weapon. With just Guard 1 you are able to withstand almost every attack in the game (both diablos, Zinogre charged slams, jho heavier attacks and anja charge are the exceptions I found) without receiving dmg or a minimal one, and you make great use of Offensive guard with that for those like me that like the more World/Iceborne CB playstyle Sry for the huge paragraph but I love the weapon and wanted to be clear about the points, great video as always!
