Tough fight? Barely won a set, and Novak was playing nervous, and making many mistakes, I'll give him credit, for his fighting spirit, but he's got a far far way to go, before he can even remotely, challenge Novak in a finals, Nadal's Wimbledon 2018 semi finals, was much much tougher, like a finals.

he needs to move better and work on his BH...
This performance right here was very amateurish compared to his performance this year at Wimby and I believe the only player who could ve beaten Matteo is Novak and that's exactly wat happened I m sure if Fed played him he would ve lost to him, but mind u Federer would ve struggled against big servers as was evident against Hurkacz and this is not 2019 Fed...
Matteo serve is the best right now and the only players who can neutralizer it are Novak and Rafa but as a Nole fan I m nervous too about his prospects at the USO he might beat himself there due to pressure but apart from that these next gens have started to make their move reaching finals on a consistent basis...

He played well in those 3 sets...Djokovic the greatest returner didn't break Federer's serve during those 3 sets yet fed was still 2-1 down. Was shocked as if fed was focusing on putting a show instead of winning. He played very well but on MP he let his guard down against the most difficult opponent he could face on grass. His 2nd MP was a horrendous tactic as if he expected Djokovic to just let him win. For someone so experienced he loves to underestimate opponents which lead to so many losses on MP.

@@claus1225 with the new racket technology the game today is much faster now compared to 30 years ago when the courts were faster. If the courts weren't slowed down all the rallies would be 5 shots or less which is boring.if Federer cant beat Nadal cause he has to hit more than ten shots then that means he isn't a great player.

To those complaining about Nadal's draw and saying Federer has an easy draw, think again: The guy has not played a single seeded player yet this entire tournament. Sugita in round 1 was a predicted easy win, Kyrgios is like world number 40 and did not play near his best, and he could've actually beaten Nadal in those tiebreaks. Tsonga is 34 years old and not even a shell of the player he once was. Sousa also is more suited for clay and unseeded too. As for Federer? Played Pouille (Seeded 27) and now Berrettini (seeded 17) before facing Kei Nishikori in the quarters. Federer's draw is, in fact, much tougher than Nadal's draw.

4th round matches 7-8 years back used to be tough as a player in top 20 usually made it to round 4 and we could see battle. No more now a days.
I don't even count the likes of zverev, Dimitrov, kachanov, shapavalov, Kyrgios to even make it like top 3 today.
Tsitsipas,Thiem,Felix auger might, but failing on big stage.
Felix looks brighter among the mentioned list.
But top 3 a huge bow to u guys.
    That's what u call champions.
