Only upon hearing this version can we now know that this piece of music was actually composed on the bass... I'd always assumed (wrongly) that most of these counterlines were just part of the symphonic arrangement; created in the studio...

It was Jaco who wrote all the music anyways man, especially horns at least most of the time.

i'm pretty sure it was composed on piano..like most all of his stuff.... and he's doing it here on bass just to hear it realized perhaps
