So for people who want to know the details of how this exploit works:
1. the exploit is based of conversion cost for tanks, it is calculated from the tank designer cost difference, and by converting the same tank and with the research bonuses, making the conversion cost into 0.x float number, game calculates the ouput = production value / conversion rate, now the conversion rate smaller than 1, the production value actually multiplies, and is now the output is through the roof.
2. If you wondering if this works for other convertable equipments, then answer is actually no, cuz you cannot get the conversion cost into 0.x with other equipments.
3. it does not work the same with other equipments, but you could still get 2 benefits out this converting exploit:
3.1 it offer slight production bonus due to the extra conversion tech, its about 10% in the end, the larger the numbers of the factories makes this benefit more noticeble since single unit of factory become less significant.
3.2 the most important benefit, that you can save LOADS of resources, essentially you only need at max 1/day production amount of resources for your whole production, which is quite crazy.
4. for fully automated way to do this exploit, you only need to make 1 more template, and put 1 factory in it. only 1 no more, the reason explanation for this is that the exploit is taking advantage of game calculating per day production, thus 1 equipment magically converting into many, but sometimes this stream gets cut off due to old equiment being 0, thus u just need 1 factory of 2nd convertion template to keep the production going.
EDIT: thanks to the replier Sir Itio, I now know you dont even need to keep the 2nd template in production, you only need to produce some of them thus tricking the sytem to not break automation, then you can free the 1 factory to conversion as well.
if you're automating it and you don't put the 2nd outdated tank you're producing to 1 per day, it will eventually stop working and won't be automated.
@@naturalvalkyrie This is incorrect, you are already producing the 1st outdated tank 1 per day, it will keep doing that, the reason for automation with single outdated templated to break, is that the outdeated template gets cut off at 0 (i.e all stock converted, and new 1/day old equipment is not there). the 2nd outdated template is just there to fill gap for the almost continous 1st template, so only 1 factory is needed no matter the total cost of the equipment.
essensially you have this continous 1/day outdated template, and another template to trick the system not to break automation. You can easily test this in game
@@HuSuBingQian Thanks for your additional input! I still don't understand why you'd need a third copy of the template though. Can't you assign the first one again? Why exactly 1 factory per template? If the exploit may stop because of running out of "old" equipment, how is another "new" equipment line going to help? I didn't get that part.

Thanks to you good @Sir Itio, I went back and tested the system and my theory, and now found an even better way to do this exploit.
while only a paradox dev would know for sure, but I am pretty confident I have got it figured out:
1. The reason for single old template to break run is simple, because old equipment will run out (which is the point of the exploit), and when it run out automation stops
2. now my original method to trick this is to have another line producing a 2nd old equiment, this way when the first line of 1/day runs out, there is still the 2nd old equipment there thus the automated conversion does not stops.
3. to answer your question, this helps because essentially the game is still converting the 1st old equipment every day 1 to many, the 2nd old equipment is never touched, and where the first replier @connor got it wrong, the 2nd outdated tank will never run out cuz its not used in conversion anyway. it's just there to trick the system to not break flow.
4. Now, Thanks to you, I have noticed that really there is no point of having another production line, as the only requirement for the conversion to keep going is by having some stock of the 2nd outdated equipment, therefore you CAN have a single old template 1/day line runing you just have to create some amount of 2nd template equipment and voila
They removed the infinite ships exploit, but gave us something better, Paradox really loves us

You can automate that so you dont have to click it all the time. Make 2 different out of date tanks versions, because it will always use one variant at the time to convert so you basicly switch between 2 different "old" version to generate your million tanks.

A FYI - I found that the these mods: 'Equipment conversion affects Ships' and 'Theorist of Navy & Air Force (idea rework)' will not allow you to do this exploit or even upgrade/convert tanks. 1.11.12

@@biscuit715 This one at least is really, really simple though. You can fix it with (probably) half a line of code, and it's weird that it wasn't in there to begin with. It _usually_ doesn't matter, but it's a matter of seconds of work and should probably be in there out of principle.

I did this with light tanks for the memes and it's really funny seeing a swarm of thousands of angry souped up light tanks overrun positions at the speed of sound

So conceivably you could also do this exploit with InfEq, Trucks, CAS, etc. Correct?
If using a mod that allows you the convert those equipment types, yes. In vanilla, these things can't be converted up from older models (except the CAS I believe).
Should be able to do it with mechanized as well if I understand the exploit right, but I'd need to test it
Seems like anything that you can upgrade with XP can do it
@@annadelsiena It actually applies to anything that has that green convert button on it. You just need to be able to setup a situation where you have an old model that is capable of being Converted into a new one.
This means if you're playing something like RT56 where you can convert... all of your equipment. You can literally print any Military-Factory equipment for free.

this leads tanks cost much cheaper. for exp your tank has 12.04 production cost but when you click on conversion it cost 0.82.

No not with ships you can just refit them faster cause you can't convert them that way.
It would just make refitting them faster so make dirt cheap heavys and refit them also having the spirit to change the refit speed of the ship you want

Also I forgot to mention but in case you didn't realize it, this doesn't work with stuff you can't edit so you can't actually do it with Inf Eq or Artillery. So basically only tanks and planes. Still a cool strat tho

Not sure this works in Blood Alone anymore. Just went to use the exploit and while it did say it was converting some 50 tanks, it only converted the couple that were stockpiled.
