      Also as for calvary in WW2, they were EXTREMELY effective on the eastern front as polish eastern border was covered by marshes and shit - unaccesable for tanks and motorised infantry, and actual infantry would be extremely slow and uneffective there, while calvary would swoop through there like nothing. I honestly believe Polish army, if fighting ONLY Stalin, would be able to hold or even push pretty easily. In 1939 of course, Red Army was a shitshow - few years later with "war economy" and shitton of Western supplies they modernised amazingly quick.

    In the Polish-Soviet war there was a cavalry battle where Poland was outnumbered 3,000 to 20,000 in favor of the Soviet Konarmia, but the sun was behind the Poles so the Soviet leadership wasn't aware of their numerical superiority.
    During this battle, a lone Cossack named Kuzma Kruchkov stepped forward and challenged anyone brave enough to a sword duel. Then, Colonel Raciecki of the Polish cavalry stepped forward and agreed to the duel. Kruchkov galloped towards him, and after Raciecki parried his attack, he slashed through Kruchkov's body, winning him the fight. The entire Soviet army was shocked, and in the hysteria that followed the Konarmia retreated.

      You mean the battle of Komarów? That wasn't remotely how it went, you were only right about the numbers of troops and the fact that Poland won, XD
      Soviets didn't retreat after 2 soldiers fought in a duel, they retreated after being near completely surrounded and risking a complete defeat. The position of the sun also didn't remotely change the outcome of the battle, as it was a series of skirmishes and bigger engagements in all kinds of places. And that duel you described was definitely NOT witnessed by everybody and definnitly was NOT what routed the Russians. It was a combination of Soviet disorganisation, extended skirmishes and charges whenever Poland pleased while Soviets managed pretty much only a single one, and a FULL ENCIRCLEMENT of Soviet horse army by Polish infantry with machineguns, which Budyonny somehow managed to break. And since Budyonny both led a charge and broke the encirclement, I guess he actually wasn't blinded by the sun for the full 3 DAYS that battle lasted.
      Sorry, I tried to be civil, but it's just unacceptable to spread myths about historical battles. Especially since it was such a great victory for my nation.

      Btw, historically speaking, Poland allying White Russians is unrealistic, because back in the days of civil war a lot of them had the policy of "support no independence, only one Russia without bolsheviks". Seeing them as danger AND having territorial ambitions on top of that, Poland even went as far as to sabotage the whites or disarm and interne them, when they could attack reds from Polish or Polish-occupied territory.

There are a few nations that focus on cavalry (like Poland or Hordes) that can get your entire army composition to be cavalry with no maluses. You can then stack cavalry buffs (combat ability, cost) and with fairly little investment have the best army in the world that can flatten any others outnumbered 3 to 1

    • @hypershadow6997

      @@nicklibby3784 thing is since no step back, supply is the biggest problem. so larger divisions used to be very effective but now, because of how much more important and how much worse supply is to deal with, smaller divisions are more effective

    • @xzardas541
      @xzardas541 Год назад +1

      @@nicklibby3784 having your divisions have size of 20 means you will be able to allways use full combat width as amount of soldiers that can fight in a region is allways a multiply of 20.
      Also it lets you to have much more flexibility and allows on covering longer frontline with smaller divisions while concentrating the rest where you need to push.
      Common mistake new players do is making small amount of huge divisions and then getting encircled or run out of supply.

    "Why are the monarchy trees so OP in HOI4" because they have to be. All the real monarchies are either dead or dying by the time of WW2, and therefore to make them fun and interesting they have to be really strong to be able to compete with the various fascist, communist, and democratic spheres. Not to mention the Non-Aligned path of the generic focus tree is absolutely terrible, plus Non-Aligned not getting the various bonuses that Fascists and Communists get for things like economy law and war goals
