THANK YOU SO MUCH! This has been a godsend for me! Just one time, and I walked away pain-free but still had trouble walking any distance, and stairs were still painful. A day or two after doing this each day, THE PAIN WAS GONE! I could climb stairs and yesterday I hiked 3 miles. Pain free round the clock!
    Some background:
I'm 65 and have osteoarthritis in both knees but relatively mild. My doc said it's nowhere near needing surgery or replacement. My left knee was hurting last year, and some PT sorted it out. A month or so ago, my right knee flared up. I saw something about this in TikTok so looked here on RUclips. I hardly ever do this three times a day and even skip days. I'm still pain-free. It still gets stiff but no real pain. Thanks again!

I read many of the comments and I totally understand people living with pain, I certainly do myself. What I don’t understand is peoples reluctance to have a total knee replacement. Many of my friends I ski and hike with have had them and they feel great. They all regret not getting them done sooner. I will do this a try because I too have knee problems not as soon as it becomes extremely painful and stops me from doing the things I love I am getting new knees. Life is too short to be in constant pain. I wish you all well. Take care

@@servantofthecreator LCL is LATERAL COLLATERAL LIGAMENT?--if it's a ligament or tendon injury, things that help include rest, ice, compression (maybe), elevation, tylenol and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen or naproxen. If you have a high pain level, you should see a medical doctor, who can properly examine you and take x-rays (as the exam directs). Other things that might help: diclofenac or lidocaine topical, both over-the counter medications. Physical therapy can also markedly help you feel better and heal.

Did this exercise after injuring my knee. I reabilitated my knee without going to physical therapy. (Not recommending you do that on your own. Just sharing my experience as I could not afford the physical therapy) after the first time doing this...I felt some relief. I also used hot water on my knee when showering and slowly bending the knee. Within a month or two I was able to walk normally without any pain! I kept doing the exercise for a while...and slowly decreasing how often. I occasionally do it to stretch my knee and it feels amazing! Take care of your knees! 👍👍

@@DodgeChic69 Good to see. I did the same knee stretch with ankle weights and avoided surgery. I found this theory from a Dr Bergman when he did a knee presentation on his youtube vid. Applying heat tricks the body to accelerate blood flow to the knee replacing the synovial fluid with new filtrated blood. If you take glucosime sulphate, fish oil, MSM which is sulphur, the body is intelligent enough to regrow cartilage in the joint. Just like a cut, bruise, burn, fracture the body is designed to repair the damage. We are innate.

This might be great for someone who is young, fit and has beginning stages of knee arthritis but for anyone who is older, with other medical conditions, and greater arthritic knees, this may not be wise. I tried the twenty pounds and was winded and nauseous after about five minutes or so and my knees were swollen more that night. I returned those weights and tried the five pound ones and had similar results. I'm going for three pounds next. The logic to this seems reasonable to bring relief, but basing the weight one yourself and not those who might truly be in need isn't as reasonable as you may intend.

    • @AdamJStoryDC
      @AdamJStoryDC  3 года назад

Actually, I use this a lot on older people who have severe arthritis. It should always be scaled to the individual, but if you’re “winded” from this as you say, there might be more going on than just arthritis...

I ordered ankle weights and they just arrived tonight. I had a long day on my feet at work (I'm a carpenter), and my knees were absolutely killing me by the time I got home, so much so that I could barely climb even the first step of a short ladder. I put the weights on and sat on the edge of a table while I watched the news. When I got up, I couldn't believe how immediate the relief was! Thank you! I intend to interject three minutes of this exercise morning, noon (even at lunch while on the job), and night. I will have two total knee replacements this spring and summer, but this one exercise already feels like it will see me through until both are done.

I am planning on showing this exercise to my doctor and get his opinion. The thing with this exercise is that it would give instant relief to some degree to anyone because you are removing the weight so you feel you are lighter and that makes you feel better. So I am still not sure if the relief is actually because of the arthritis improving. Thanks once again.

I started with the simple "back and forth", then added "side to side", and finally rotating in a small circle (both CW and CCW). My routine now includes all four movements. For hips, I stand on a piece of 2X6 on one leg and do the four movements with the other leg....then switch. Really really has majorly improved joint pain.

I've been doing this for about a month now and I can certainly say it works. The results aren't miraculous but if you persevere then you certainly feel positive results. If you're going to try it, make sure you get weights that are easy to put on; mine are a bit fiddly so I like to do just one set of exercises a day. I sit on the edge of our (sturdy) dining table and swing away for up to 15 minutes while reading a book; I'm actually writing this comment while doing my exercises!
    Believe me, it really works.

I think 15 minutes is too
long, you dont want to put too much pressure
on the joint.I would do 2x a day for 6,7minutes.
      with some swimming .
      Most horse trainers use
swimming for their injured horses the water takes the strain of the joint ,this weight exercise put a strain on
      the joints.

Now, I am active again and walk at least 2 miles every day. I've had both knees replaced, 4 months apart, 3 years ago. Find a good surgeon that you trust, take the pain meds as prescribed to stay ahead of pain, DO THE REHAB NO MATTER WHAT, and get on with your life. It is so worth it!!!!

I'd like to know what an orthopedic surgeon might think of your knee pain. Incredibly, if you haven't had x-rays and a physical examination, it could arise from your knee or your hip. Self diagnosis works sometimes, but often we just need professional hands-on help.
      Good luck!

I knew he was going to say swimming and bicycling as I discovered that decades ago. Let pain be your guide. Less pain in movement = better for knees and increases circulation in joint. Also liquid glucosamine + chondroitin is more absorbable and helps long term, but is not a cure. Costco carries it. Not endorsing, just telling my my experience. For me low carb/keto ( with non starchy vegies) greatly reduced the inflammation in my knees, lowered the pain and gave me much more mobility.
