no one buys US cars in china
But China is a country wide criminal organisation with hostile intentions. The difference.
It is revealed that Teslas camera and security systems get too much info about those who drives their cars and also the surrounding people and cars. That can be a security risk when people on high or secret positions have bought them anywhere in the world.
it's about confidence, I don't think US has the confidence to compete, it has to use some other methods like what they did to Japan in 80s

China will most likely make it more competitive and prices will become more affordable. That is an issue here in the western sphere.....they charge way too much for EVs in Europe, The USA and Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

They will call the competition a security threat from China. Unfortunately most of these countries are lead by thugs like Joe Biden.

@@wolfvale7863 Agreed. Not in US.
6:47 This is not quite correct. I work in this area. China, for example, has absolute dominance over the cobalt supply chain. Chinese companies are basically running the Democratic Republic of Congo’s copper belt (where the vast majority of cobalt originates), and they also own most cobalt refineries. For another key component of batteries - lithium - China is also in the Top 3 of producing countries (if you count the lithium triangle in Chile/Argentina/Bolivia as one). Australia being the other one in the Top 3. There are massive concerns around the environment and indigenous rights around the South American lithium production. So you can’t easily get around China here as well. He already talked about Chinas dominance for gold. AND - as he rightfully pointed out - China owns most of the refineries for all of these minerals. So - in a nutshell - the western world has been sleeping in this area for decades, and once again China was smart to push ahead! Our politicians think too short-term.
Only south America? indigenous rights at Australia is no concern?
Why use cobalt when you can use safer LFP battery that contains zero cobalt?
Completely agree. With the rise of Chinese nationalism and the very agressive behaviour (Taiwan, the declaration of limitless friendship to Russia, while they are waging a war in Europe, etc.) it should be abundantly clear that Europe and the West should part ways with China asap.

I have no doubt that within a decade or two, Chinese auto makers will catchup and surpass all other car makers in every aspect of car manufacturing. They are similar to Japan in the 1980s, except their manufacturing is on a different level. China is truly an unstoppable force. All of this will be great for us consumers. We will all be able to have top products in our lives, without having to pay top prices.

But once the manufacturing and even engineering leaves Europe, where will the jobs and money come to buy even those "reasonably priced" cars? Your thinking is very, very short sighted and naive. Chinese cars are cheap because they are intentionally driving the prices down to kill the competition. That has been seen in the west on a company level, but in China, the whole government is involved.
It's a systematic, country wide plan to hog everything to China and that need to be stopped, at any cost.

Xi Jinping declared his limitless friendship to Russia while it is fighting a war against Europe, the CCP builds clandestine political police stations abroad, Chinese companies steal Western technology, the PLA goes as far as firing missiles into the EEZ of the coast of Japan. While Tesla works with 24% margins, the EU producers work with 8% net margins.
This is why Tesla is lowering prices, to increase market shares in Europe, where there is a shortage of cars.
If you want to buy a new European car, in Europe today, you need to wait more than a year.
This video, from DW, is political; it aims to set European people against China, while opening up the European car market to US companies, mainly Tesla.
Why?
Because we made a big economic mistake on closing our European economies to Russia, after we haven’t yet recovered from covid.
This generated stagflation, a big inflation.
This mistake, is being used by China to increase their car sales to Russia, where they sell cars like hot cakes.
It’s all about who is bigger, the US, or China?
Europe is basically signing their own ruin, by opening up to American cars, because European companies can’t complete with the US, due to the US’s less restrictive work laws, higher prices of energy in Europe as well as much higher European production taxes.
I wouldn't say the video is against China, and much less in favour of the US lmao. And european companies, like chinese and american ones, have factories on different countries. @ Joaquim Barbosa Europe could have enjoyed Russia's cheap energy, which is the key to reducing inflation. Unfortunately, Europe was led by the nose by the United States and sanctioned Russia's trade. You can pay attention to Russia's economy. In our normal perception, war should make Russia painful, but the reality is that it is better than ever. What's the problem?
@@xwqi That is, by all means, a false narrative. It is true that european leaders vastly underestimated Russia, but its economy is NOT in good shape
They are paying far more for semiconductors, bal bearings, driling machines etc. There are some kinds of essential tech wich only western countries have, and without that Russia Lopes competitiveness. The ruble already fell down again. They are chest is becoming increasingly emptier. They lost more then a million skilled labour
They stopped publishing reports on their economy, and all the data that we have points to Russia being considerably affected
Not to mention, european energy, and gas was never cheap. And slowly but surely gas prices are falling. When more pipelines are complete they'll be ok
One thing that could've helped was more nuclear power. France is managing to increase its production, and other countries are building new reactors. If only Germany would give up on 100% renewables
The Future is Asia obviously
China really, maybe India too if their development gets faster.
No wonder America wants to bomb the region so badly. It needs to reset everything in Asia in order to equalize and stop economic growth of the region.

Not only NIO, also Zeekr 001. With the latest progress with batteries, these cars could make almost 2000 km per charge

Without Russian cheap energy, Germany will be left behind for good. The German firms might as well move to china to take advantage of the Russian cheap energy there.

The design, or EV platform is not the issue. I see bigger gap on software side. I see no chance EU can catch up on software side.
BYD's R&D investments into EV and Battery Tech is paying off, while the EU's proximity to the Oil Producing States of OPEC+ will give it sufficient Energy Security to develop its own Manufacturing Base while weaning Passenger Transport off Fossil Fuels for Electric Vehicles and biofuels.

Watch out for BYD Seagulls with a price tag of $10000 and a new Na Battery technology which is a gamechanger!
If china prospers it's product's cost will start climbing up as it has already started
China undercuts the West because they don't have the same environmental laws and worker rights regulations.
Cheap energy from russia and cheap long term contracts w sanctioned Iran Qatar Saudi plus and high degree of automation means its unlikely to happen anytime soon. Also China is harnessing increasing amount of energy from renewables. Its the world leader in solar wind and others. Its energy security is an absolute champion.

Good. The Germans were overcharging for decades.
I honestly do not mind if a car is expensive, but base it on value for money.
This financial model of charging exorbitant amounts for options ( $5000+ for “technology packs, hundreds for ventilated seats“ ) is outrageous. Most of the mid tier cars being released have many of these features built in.
Many years ago I owned a 1990 Toyota Mark2,
It came with more fancy gear and options as standard than my factory pimped out 2013 Mercedes S class.
Most people think about the customer tax credit when they talk about the IRA but none of that money goes to the automaker it just makes their cars more competitive for customers that are in a range of income levels. But the direct money is in making the batteries and mining the materials.
In long run China EV revolution benefit the world and consumers in term of green environment and affordable prices. In short run inevitable painful for traditional car maker.
0:52 look at the state of that, do any of those screens tell you when you are about to run a pedestrian over?

I've been China last year to do market research on EV. The customer is not brands oriented, driven by new technology and creativities.

Bravo News for DW bring in and for sure , EVs industry boost very fast and it sounds kind of New TOPIC bring hate concern for the West , there is long way to travel , competition is good for all , open mind always..
Open mind? You are not talking about China there, right? What the CCP thinks about open minds they made completely clear in HK and with their clandestine political police stations.
Because China has the largest EV infrastructure in the world and they're going all out by making the best mass consumer EVs.
It is China's local people and govt policy which should be credited for their overhaul. A decade ago Chinese local players were only famous of counterfeiting cars of foreign players.
But they learnt a lot from JV with foreign players and are now setting the rules for the big players to follow.
Standing on your own two feet is a success, beating competitors is a victory. Survival by subsidies could be a victory, but not a success. Germany's manufacturing sector is in no position to squeeze out its competitors, so it needs to aim for success, not victory.
So which one could be a success for Germany? Internal combustion, EV, or both?
I know almost nothing about the profitability of the motor industry. But undercutting a heavily subsidized competitor does not sound like a success to me. Perhaps there's a day when EV could be a viable industry for Germany, but right now I don't see actions taken to address the whole supply chain issue in the foreseeable future. Am I missing something?
@@sandylee7144 I guess you need to do better than Tesla to claim a success.
The Chinese government subsidizes all enterprises selling electric vehicles, including foreign companies. Interestingly, Tesla has received the second-highest amount of subsidies.

The E-fuels fairytale is going to completely destroy German car companies
If the leaders are only focusing on the short term businesses, there is no wonder this will come.
Leaders are lost in a world of abnormal profiteering at the expense of innovation and improvement.
Now that the perceived benefits of electric cars have diminished - namely that electricity has gotten more expensive while oil prices have dropped making electric cars not much cheaper to fuel than ICE, the problem with range anxiety and the cost to replace expended batteries - the love affair with electric cars is quickly coming to an end.
