I have been in the same position with an anglegrinder with a wire wheel on there. Thankfully someone was close and pulled the plug out. I am planning on making myself a heat treatment oven but cant figure out the kanthal wire length any advice about it?
What I did was to make a much longer coil than I needed, then cut to length when I installed it. By the way, I used 0.8mm wire which is too thin. Going to replace with 1mm or even 1.2mm. If you want to work out lengths and amperage etc, visit Dan Comeau's brilliant blog which is full of great info like that dcknives.blogspot.com/p/electric-forge.html
@@Ukenick I just found this site, easy to use and metric. www.vegoilguy.co.uk/coilcalc.php 12.43 meters of 1.2mm should give me 23 ohms at around 2300 watt 230 volt. Sounds reasonable to me.
Very nice work, Nick! I can't wait to see the oven in action. I really liked your fret saw work...it reminds me someone I know. Please be very careful next time you use a wire brush on the angle grinder! Dimitris
Thanks for sharing your info
