Hi there, I’ve listen to countless of your videos and I’ve never seen you before until I watch this video today. Thank you so much for all that you do for people like me who can’t figure out how to do anything. I can solve the Rubiks cube, I can’t fly my flight simulator! Thank you so much.
Not going to lie, that last time I watched a video from this channel was in about 2012-2013 when it was still named DaSquirrelNuts. Nice to see you're doing better than ever Squirrel, keep it up!
Just to clarify: The tabs he is talking about on the base plate at 20:35 is NOT to give it a “rake”. YOU WILL RUIN YOUR BASE PLATE. I cannot emphasize this enough. DO NOT USE THE TABS ON THE BASE PLATE FOR LIFTING THE UNIT AT ALL, YOU WILL BREAK IT. They are used for lifting the suction pad off the table a little so you can get the base plate off the table more easily.
Not sure if you knew this, but the AT disconnect and TOGA button, as well as the thrust reverser are actually functional in game. There are metal contacts on the stick that get the input
Really pleased to see the unboxing vids finally starting to come out for the throttle. I’ve had one on order since Dec 2018, think I pre ordered it day one when it came onto the Aerosoft website. Was lucky enough to use a alpha build of the throttle at Cosford last year and I can state it was one of the best home throttle setups I’ve ever used, and that trim wheel was actually the best home sim trim wheel I had ever used. Even though it wasn’t connected at all to the yoke, it actually fooled my brain into thinking the pressure was being released from the yoke as I turned it. It truly did feel real and a fully connected flight control system. Hopefully they have managed to keep that feeling into the production model. The only slight issue was the levers moved horizontally when you had hold of them and felt a little cheap, however they did state at the time, they were aware and was gonna try and improve the feel. Fingers crossed they have managed that, and I’ll be intrested to see what turns up in the reviews. However don’t get me wrong, that’s not a complaint. This was still hands down the best throttle quadrant i have ever used in decades of home simming. I really am looking forward to adding it to my cockpit in the hopefully near future
Great unboxing! My only request is that when you do the actual review and hands-on, if you can show your flight and the quadrant in a picture-in-a-picture format. That way, we can see what your are doing with the controls as the flight course/altitude/reversers/etc happens.
Thank you so much for posting this video. I have been looking for the dimensions of these two units to determine what stand I should order when I place my order for these two units. Most helpful.
Ah! So that's what you look like! not at all what I imagined from watching your flight sim videos! :-) :Great vid as usual. I don't think my level of usage of Flight Sim warrents me getting such a set up but having watched this the Christmas wish list is being re written !
I have been researching like crazy and I really wanted to go with the Thrustmaster Boeing, but after doing more researcher on the HoneyComb, I think this is the better choice. Only thing I think is missing is the AP knob selector. Ok that's what happens when you comment without watching the whole video.
The tabs at the back of the base mount is to help remove the base from the table if you use the sticky bottom. That sticky bottom is reusable if you keep it clean (so they say).
The button on the GA throttle is most likely a “go around” button that you click to tell the autopilot and GPS to start the missed approach. (Note, not the same as TOGA, the auto throttle mode for max thrust since auto-throttles are very rare in piston driven airplanes.)
I really enjoy my pair; will be nice to see Charlie rudder pedals; I also like that you can mount Logitech Pro Flight Panels and/or Logitech Pro Flight Instrument Panels/gauges too! Fly high Squirrel!
I love that the slots for the levers have covers... My CH quadrant fills up with dust while I'm not using it, where this one - pull the levers off for storage and stick the covers on.
I've been waiting for this video. They say "patience is a virtue". I've never had any, lol. So I sold my Honeycomb Alpha Yoke and bought the Thrustmaster Warthog setup. Don't get me wrong I'm totally happy with the Warthog but that Throttle Quadrant would be amazing! Happy flying everyone! : )
Now that you own both the throttle and the yoke you really need to film yourself using them in all of your upcoming MS FS 2020 videos. I´m sure a lot of people would like to see these in action. :D
That thing is massive. 😳 Back in the day of Falcon 3.0, friend got a Thrust Master stick and crafted a regular joystick for a throttle (he later got a real throttle handle). They were heavy, cool things. This is whole another level. Damn nice. 😎
That red button on the throttle, if I’m not mistaken, is meant to be a TO/GA mode. (Take-off/Go-around) found in a lot of modern medium to large G/A and Commercial airplanes, just FYI.
I ordered this from Amazon UK, on 14/05. Originally, it was scheduled for September delivery but it has been put back three times since then and is now due for 09/12. I'm not holding my breath, though.
You don’t pull the props back (down) to reverse the props you pull them to feather them incase of engine failure. To engage reverse you would have the props fully forward and pull the throttles back through a detent to engage beta
I have the Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant now for 4 months. As a XP-11 flyer, I enjoy the ability to work the throttle. BUT only 2 months in using the unit, I started to get problems with the thrust reverse switches. I first were thinking it was my poor ability to interact with the XP11 software. But later I realized the problem was not with the software of the switches in the levers, but the fact that the wires running inside to the controller card were breaking. I realized this when I opened the controller and visually inspected the wires. 4 of the routed wire were all broken. My observation was that the wire they were using is too hard, and during bending would suffer fatigue damage. Realizing this, it was not really possible to solve the problem by doing an exchange of the bravo unit, as this problem is a Design fault, and I would just be getting the same failure in the future. Therefore, I replaced all the routed wires with a thinner more flexible gauge wire and adding additional support at the tight corner bends. After my repair to date I had no more problems with the functionality. I do not know if other users have the same problem? Let me know.
That was the first question I wondered as well when I first discovered this new throttle quadrant. It's quite unbelievable when I see how well thought out this product is from top to bottom. How could they miss this important part. It really appears to be almost impossible to use the buttons when the levers are fully forward. Or at least it will definitely be awkward to reach them then. And given that, imo, these buttons are ideal to map all lights with, it seems really unhandy. You will operate some light switches while some levers will be fully forward but this setup seems to make this impossible.
The idea of Honeycomb Aeronautics to use the sticky Scotch M3 surface is nice, but will only work on an absolutely smooth surface (like a glass or laminated desk) any structure on the surface of your desk will make it insufficient to be used as an alternative for the clamps. In order to use the clamps for my Alpha Yoke I had to make two gaps in the frame of my desk with an angle grinder. Because for my rigid desk the clamps are 1 cm too short unfortunately.
They should make a racing wheel if they havent already. That quick mount system thry have to slide it on and lock it in woukd be cool if you did both racing and flying. Especially if they kept most of if not all the cables the same. Just unplug and unhook the system your using and slide on the other one. Slick as snot lol.
Good on you for having one. I really hope you enjoy it. I am however starting to get salty. 2020 is the year of disappointments. I get to see others use stuff I'd like and cannot get. I preordered the throttle in August and the delivery has been pushed to mid December, my 3080 is nowhere to be seen since two months... All I can do is gawk at influencer videos having fun with the stuff... Slowly gets annoying.
You are not alone, I'm seeing the same comments on most of these influencer vids and I feel the same way. At least with Squirrel you know he'll actually use the item. I can't believe the number of these that went out to jo-blow RUclipsrs who haven't the first clue how to set them up and use them properly. That makes me salty!
For those that were able to order from the factory, the first week of shipments should be next week, then the week by week deliveries. That also means that starting next week Honeycomb will start shipping to third party suppliers too. Probably take a little while to get to them if they go by ship, unless of course they sprung for air shipment. Good luck. As to the video cards, I think most folks are dealing with that. It is why for my new build I just decided to get a 5700 XT which will get me started and I can wait to see what happens with the 3000 cards as well as Big Navi when it comes out. Let them all get the deliveries figured out and get one when they are plentiful in a year or so.
I do find it curious that they used the same housing as the Alpha, because there's nothing but empty space in the rear section right now, instead of having some clamping system on the back panel, like Saitek/Logitech uses.
The as you said "little red button" that is the go around button while you landing it just tells atc your going around instead of having to radio it in
I'd imagine the throttle "red switch" is the Takeoff/Go-around switch. On aircraft like the Q400 or King Air, the TOGA button switches modes for the flight director (and on the Q400, progress the flightplan to the Go Around portion in the FMS) without having to take hands off the throttle as you advance them to go around power.
Nice video and nice throttle quadrant as well, these days you can get an entire airplane cockpit on your desk with all switches and displays, very costly though
Been looking at this product off and on on Amazon for the last couple weeks as I'm looking for a good replacement for the Saitek system. Looks like it has alot of potential given the range of customisable parts. Can't wait to see your review of it!

From the C172 to the Baron to the A320 and B748, this should give a realistic "feel" to them all - and should be fairly easy to set up and save each configuration profile in the sim. I might stick with my Logitech quadrant for single engine GA flights, but the Bravo will be my go-to for everything else.

Guess what! "My Pilot store" just emailed me letting me know it's coming. Shipping on or before end of the year. Whoohoo!!!
The ROG cap is awesome 👍👍😁
The button on the GA throttle lever is the TO/GA button.
Hey Siri, Can you die
Siri: I cannot
ROFL 🤣 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Most thorough and professional reviewer.Loved the review Sir.Keep up the good work.👍👍👏👏
I do find it curious that they used the same housing as the Alpha, because there's nothing but empty space in the rear section right now, instead of having some clamping system on the back panel, like Saitek/Logitech uses.
Love my Alpha, got my Bravo ordered and paid for, but I won't get it til around Thanksgiving, can't wait
Great review, can we see your camera operator too?
Feels like we’re part of your family!
Yep, TOGA - should also disengage the auto throttle when its active (double click from memory)
I got a bit nervous when Paul started drag this thing on the top of his desk "noooooo, it's gonna scratch it!!!!"
Has a bravo and here I am putting rubberbands on my 5 year old Saitek/Logitech yoke and still pissed off that it feels like sandpaper no matter what I do. no worries though, bet there will be plenty Alphas and Bravos up for sale by Jan.
Wow! Both together look fantastic. I'm Dreaming now.
If I’m not wrong,I think the red button on the throttle lever is the disengage autopilot
This thing is incredible. Looking forward to seeing some usage videos!
Great video! Can't wait to see the hands-on review. This looks like a real game changer! (No pun intended.) Having that configurability in one piece of hardware is fantastic!
I already have the Honeycomb yoke and this will definitely be a purchase for me soon!! From the C172 to the Baron to the A320 and B748, this should give a realistic "feel" to them all - and should be fairly easy to set up and save each configuration profile in the sim. I might stick with my Logitech quadrant for single engine GA flights, but the Bravo will be my go-to for everything else.
