    I cannot wait for Asobo to fix the issue with the “always on” switches. Not having the granularity for heading/course/altitude is a giant pain. My workaround was to unbind all of the switches on the Alpha. Looks like I’ll have to do the same when I get the Bravo.

    What's funny is I have been using this throttle quadrant at home and love it, but yesterday jumped in the Piper Lance to fly to Dallas and it has this exact autopilot and it took me a minute not to try to be reaching for my bravo quadrant. But yes in our real plane it is pretty close to the Bravo. The blue level button is also really cool. If you were to get disoriented in clouds, night , ect, just hit it and it WILL level your plane back out.

    I’ve watched I think all four of your videos in this series on the Bravo - EXCELLENT for my knowledge increase. Thank you. two questions. 1 - how do you set your parking break (mine seems to toggle on / off / on / off so I’ve done it incorrectly) and 2 - can you say more about yaw damper? Should it be on all the time the AP is engaged up until approach mode?

    • @RMAG
      @RMAG  3 года назад +1

      You want to make sure you bind the switch to SET PARKING BRAKE, not TOGGLE PARKING BRAKES. The Sim normally starts with the parking brake engaged, so if you start with the switch in the off position you may need to flip it to on then back off the first time you use it. A Yaw Damper is not to be used during takeoff or landing.

    • @georgesiebes
      @georgesiebes 3 года назад

      @@RMAG Yes, quite a strange "feature". If you ask me, this "bug" is too big to go unattended for so long, in other words, it's intentional. I guess we all use the 10 degree heading bug increments and hit the HDG-set-to-current when we hit the right single digit heading. Thoughts?

    • @RMAG

      @@georgesiebes in some respects I like the larger adjustments. With my game when first loads in, it has the small adjustments, but it reverts to the large adjustments as soon as I hit ESC and bring up the menu. It’s A LOT of twisting to turn 180° or to set an IAS by 1’s instead of 10’s. With Altitude it’s normally thousands or maybe thousands plus 500. If I’m looking for a specific altitude I’ll set for the nearest 1,000 past the target and just hit ALT at my target. The knobs are workable. I would prefer a switch so we could toggle between large or small adjustments.

      @@RMAG Could one of the programmable buttons be set to do that? I think a better solution would be to base it on speed, and I'd hate to waste a button on that, but it might at least be an interim fix until someone figures out the speed idea, or something I haven't thought of. It's never clear to me how to arm something vs engage something. You pushed the altitude hold button to immediately engage altitude hold, you also armed the glide slope. How do you arm the aforementioned without engaging them?

    • @RMAG
      @RMAG  Год назад

      Some modes are instant engagement, some are armed some can be both depending on the situation. For example, Alt Hold is always instant if you press the button. So is HDG. VS and IAS is instant. Armed things are typically armed because you are not “there yet”. For example, you set an Altitude Preselect which is an altitude you are not at. You use a mode to ascend or descend to that altitude (IAS, VS, or PIT). Now Alt Hold is Armed. It won’t hold at the preselected altitude until you actually arrive at the altitude. NAV button can be either. If you are going direct to a Waypoint and you hit the NAV button, it will instantly enter GPS mode and take you to the waypoint, however, if you are on a heading, and you are going to intercept a leg of a flight plan and you hit NAV mode, GPS will be armed because you’re not actually on the GPS course yet. Same applies to APR mode. If you hit APR before you are on the approach, it will be armed. If you hit APR while on the approach the lateral portion would typically immediately engage, but the vertical portion is typically armed and needs to be intercepted. So basically, you just need to understand what you are doing when you put the auto pilot in a certain mode. Is it a present command or are you setting up for the future? That is the basic difference between immediate engagement versus arming.

      Tony:
      Looks like another bug. When in HDG mode it will not intercept the Localizer or GPS horizontal nav on an RNAV approach. I found that if right before the Localizer intercept, if you tap "NAV" it will capture the Localizer. Then re-engage the APR mode and the Glideslope captures okay. Yeah its not exactly right, but you get it to work. I am using the Garmin G1000 NXi update. I did not try on the original G1000 mode.

    • @RMAG
      @RMAG  3 года назад +1

      It’s well known bug in MSFS. It has to be fixed by Asobo. Alternatively you can use a third party program to do the keybinds, or you can unbind all your switches including the Alpha yoke. Or just wait for them to fix it. I use the knobs for macro changes and then the virtual knobs in the sim for the micro changes.

    • @CaptArash

      @@RMAG Thanks for sharing your workaround! Yes, I have unbound the toggle switches for now, as well as the selector knob (on the left). My workaround to use the plus/minus knob (right one) of the autopilot is that I have bound the AP mode buttons to two functions. E.g.: HDG enables the heading mode, and also selects the heading bug. Then I can use the plus/minus knob to turn the heading bug. It needs a bit of getting used to.
      One more thing, how do you use the virtual knob for micro changes? Because for me, even the virtual knob moves in 10 degree intervals, when the toggle switches are bound to something.

    Hi, I got my Honeycomb Yoke and Throttle in November of 2021 (throttle in first of Nov and Yoke at end of Nov). After getting rid of my Saitek yoke, throttle, multi-panel and switch panel in stalled the Honeycomb in mid Dec. After installation ran into some problems, on the yoke the nav and taxi light switches do not work, rest of switches work fine, beacon, landing, and strobe. Then the next problem ran into is the Auto Pilot will not work. Can turn system on and see it high light on instrument panel but nothing else works Turn left knob to heading the turn right knob and heading bug does not move. Have saw where you can download from Honeycomb site how to make the leds for throttle panel lighs light up with on. I fly two planes, Cessna 172 and Beech Baron 58 with air manager premium panel for both and have FS2020. Also was able to program 4 of the seven switches on the throttle quadrant, pitot heat, cabin lights, flood light, and park brake, they work fine. So if you have any ideas or information on what to do to correct these problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    The GFC-500 also has a TRK and a VNAV, which I noticed that Bravo does not have. What alternate options / bindings should we use for those? And any ideas on how to mod the black switches to lighted-ON switches? (that are just below the auto-pilot row of buttons). I would assume this would be a quick mod because someone likely makes those exact switches but with lighted options for ON only. Ideally , the switches would have a very soft back-glow (lighting) for the whole switch, and then a demonstrably different light for when the light is actually on. It would also be nice that the switches have a "Screen-Print" option so that we can label the actual light on the surface of the switch itself. I'd also like to mod the Alpha Yoke in the same manner. Lastly, I would think that if we could mod the unit to replace the "BACKCOURSE" button to a "RNAV" Button, it would be much more useful. Any ideas on this stuff would be appreciated.
