@@billbaggins1688 If you are navigating with VOR or on an ILS approach, the "CRS" or course is the radial that you enter to fly to/from a VOR or the radial for an ILS or localizer approach. So if I'm flying an ILS approach and the final approach course is 080, I would set my Nav 1 course to 080 after I'm cleared for the approach and ready to intercept. Many GPS units and HSIs (horizon situation indicator...directional gyro with added course needles) will sync automatically so you don't need to turn the course or OBS knob, but if you fly steam gauges or Nav 1 is a CDI steam gauge (course deviation indicator), you usually have to set the course manually with the OBS knob. Either way, its good practice to always announce the course as part of your brief so that you are sure its correct. Just keep in mind that some HSIs won't show the course needle until you switch to VLOC on your GPS. If you are in GPS mode, the course is set to your GPS course, not a VOR or ILS. Glass cockpits like G3X or G1000 or many airliners will have secondary needles that show the nav needles at the same time as the GPS needles.

My best recommendation is to double check, if still nothing it could be corrupt game files of it could just need an update. The function of the index is to select the mode to adjust, so anything related to that mode, and adjusting, should work

Greetings from Grand Rapids, MI sir. Just came across this video today. Purchased the Alpha and Bravo just last week and am having a terrible time trying to program it into X-Plane. Q: Might you have any recommendations and/or solutions? Appreciate your thoughts! Randy
@@wallyrodaviation Hi friend and thank you for your reply. Actually, I just sent you an email this morning. May be a better way to communicate (?) Aircraft?...two primary - X-Plane 12 Beech Baron and C-172. Will give you some more confidential information I have re: "Profiles" in a future email.
Thanks for this video A couple of questions What is the index bind do? Wouldn't just just binding the two keys together adjust the settings anyway! As the the left rotary button is an "always on" bind (I can see this at 3:32 as the Altitude slot index is permanently highlighted whilst it's in that position) does this cause the heading bug increment issues when mouse wheeling the heading bug in the C152 etc?
The index bind is basically for the left knob, it just allows you to, in conjunction with the right knob, adjust ALT, VS, HDG, etc. For the second question I think you are asking if when ALT is selected on the left knob, and you wish to adjust HDG with your mouse, will there be issues, the answer is no, there will not be any issues and it should work as normal.
@@wallyrodaviation I think you may find that if you load the Cessna 152 and try to rotate the heading bug with you mouse wheel it will go up in 10 degrees I have the Honeycomb yoke and if I have any of the five light switches or the master or avionics or the engine start switches bound the heading bug dial in the Cessna will only mouse wheel dial in 10 degree increments If you have time hop in the Cessna and try turning the heading dial bug with your mouse and see if you can increase/decrease in 1 degree increments . I'm extremely curious to see if you don't have the problem and if so trying to figure out why I do!
@@noisecraftstudio5817 I think I saw a video where the uploader had traced it to a bug in the simulator... I believe the description was, imagine on keyboard if you hold the key for increase thrust for example it will "repeat" to keep increasing, holding a heading increase will on repeat increase by 10s instead of 1s (after a while), and the problem is ANY held on/off control puts the simulator into "repeat input mode"... so that nice rotary switch on the left which holds an input will trigger the simulator bug all the time... something like that... see also forums.flightsimulator.com/t/honeycomb-aeronautical-partnership-please-fix-input-bugs/328899
the knob on the right doesnt work like that anymore because it auto binds the right knob to Plus and munis you MUST unbind them first! also is tghere a way to make it so that the heading changes 1 at a time INSTEAD of 10 at a time?
Really enjoyed your video, and I have subscribed to your channel. My Bravo is on a FedEx plane somewhere between Hong Kong and my home, so your videos should come in very handy when I start configuring. I do, however, have one question ... did you bind the auto pilot's altitude knob's push/pull function to anything on the Bravo. In the A320 when you dial in a new altitude, you have to PUSH the button to set the new altitude in managed mode, and you PULL to set a new un-managed altitude.
Hey! Awesome video! I do have question though. How do i stop using the mouse to pull/push de Heading/Speed/VS ? Since sometimes I just want to go back to letting the plane fly by itself
@@wallyrodaviation yes exactly! I would like to map the a "push altitude" binding, to start the descent/ ascend to the selected altitude for example. Or a pull binding for the HDG, to go back to normal navigation. Do you know how can I do that? Or is not possible?
@@niko74481 hmmm it might not be possible, i haven't gone too in depth into the push pull features, if there is an option in the bind settings, the best bet would be to use the switch panel on the throttle itself. Again, however, i'm not sure if this is possible
Thank you for this video, it works well. However, when I increase or decrease sim rate.. the increase or decrease knob on the right acts as a sim rate + or -. Help
First of all, thanks for the Video. But I have massive problems with the Autopilot functions. When I turn the Selectbutton between IAS, VS, HDG, CRS and ALT, the autopilot functions are switched off or on without the need for me to do so. Example: Turn the selection switch from ALT to IAS. ALT goes out, VS becomes active HDG switch so CRS. I then adjust the speed. Turn the Selectbutton back to ALT. IAS goes off HDG goes on VS turns off again and ALT goes on again. I don't know what to do anymore. Do you have a tip?
Well, when you switch to VS, ALT will turn off because your no longer holding altitude. IAS is usually for changing level or speed, If you are the selected altitude, EX you put 10,000 into the autopilot, VS will no longer be on. Depending on if you have conflicting button binds and the type of the plane, you may have issues. I'd suggest to start a whole new profile and start from scratch.
@@wallyrodaviation I have beginn from Scratch. Now i dont Push the Button VS. in ALT. I use the Scrollbutton on the Left to Change other Settings like IAS. You now what i mean? Okay You have Buttons for HDG, NAV, APR, REV, ALT, VS, IAS and the big square AP Masterbutton. Now I aktivate AP, ALT and IAS. I want change the Speed from 250 to 200 Knots. I Turn the Selectbutton on the very left Side. This is only a Selectbutton to enter new values. But i dont switch the AP from ALT hold to VS (pushbuttons) But the AP switch off ALT, Switch on VS and other Gosthinputs will do.
The dials are not working for me when I attempt to set up my throttle this way. I followed the steps exactly as you described but when I go to increase my altitude, it also increases everything else. Any ideas?
I would go back and re-try the process with a clean profile. If that still doesnt work I would make sure that both buttons are lighting up the box at the same time ensuring their register
When this unit was released it had a bug in MSFS so it made it impossible to change the altitude in less than 1000 feet increments and heading could only change 10° steps not less. Looks in the video it is fixed or are you using some software to fix it?
Thanks from the UK for the great video! I don't even have the Honeycomb yet but I'm sure this is hugely helpful to a lot of people. I know that it will help me out ALOT! Just one thing, are either of the rotary knobs able to be pushed in like a button? Because in the A320, once you set your altitude or heading etc. you then need to either push or pull the knob in the simulator to activate your selection. How is this done on the Bravo quadrant? eg. When you set an altitude in the A320, how do you arm/activate your selection so that the aircraft moves to that altitude? And how do you use both altitude modes on the A320 with the quadrant? i.e. 'Managed Altitude' and 'Selected Altitude' mode? Thanks! :D
Thank you for your video teaching. It is very helpful. Currently, I am playing fs in xbox. I just have turtle beach stick. I am now thinking to buy honeycomb throttle quadrant. My question is this combination works, turtle beach stick plus honeycomb quadrant? I find some manual telling the honeycomb quadrant connecting to honeycomb yoke which is then connecting xbox.
Is there anyway to provide feedback to MSFS other than Discord or MSFS site ? I cant get logged in to either due to errors, and other nonsense. "INDEX" is a word never seen in gaming (lol) development... nor "translate camera" ... nor "SET" button assignment. And good heavens you would think that the button assigment software would not require the On then Off requirement. It is the only time I have ever seen this quirkiness for button assignments - do they not have access to other software design ? Are they Literature majors ? And when will they allow prefix assignments to the joystick (Ctrl) (ALT) etc. BTW CRS is course change from your flight plan.
The default keybinds use indexes like you setup for the left knob but use ‘min/max’ keybinds for the right knob. Did you see any functionality difference compared to the button combos you suggest?
Ok I tested the default config vs yours some more. Essentially VS and IAS are mutually exclusive. You can only use one at a time. VS is to climb or descend to a specified altitude via a set vertical speed. IAS is to climb or descend to a specified altitude via a set airspeed. You can choose one but not both. The default binding causes VS to be selected while it is being set, and when you turn the left knob off the VS, it deselects VS. So you have to arm it again by hitting the VS button. While this works, it’s clunky. IAS works by default opposite, you have to select the IAS button in order to bring it up and set it. And once it’s set it remains armed. Unless your move the right knob onto, or past VS, VS gets armed and IAS disarmed. With your bindings altitude and heading work the same. IAS works the same as default, the big difference is your bindings for VS gets rid of it automatically arming or disarming VS to set it. Your handling of VS in my opinion is superior to the defaults. BTW the bindings for your setup for CRS is left knob CRS selection set to VOR OBS. Then to adjust you want to do your button Combo of Button 18 (the CRS index) + MINUS to decrease the course selection and Combo of button 18 and PLUS to increase the course selection. PLUS and MINUS are found in the Miscellaneous section. Finally... to have the default autopilot keybindings work the way you did yours without much effort, all you need to do is delete the keybind for Button 20 on “set autopilot VS hold”. Then you just need to manually select VS like your bindings to change it.
Any idea why alt selector knob and plus minus knob does not adjust altitude on any of the planes in MSFS 2024? Its not double bound, not a hardware issue as it works fine in other sims and test software. It worked fine for a while and just stopped working recently. Anyone else having this issue and how to fix?
From what I remember, MSFS updates tend to completely mess with binds and programming, so it could be as simple as an update shattered what once worked
Awesome video. Question. When I use the honeycomb knobs to turn alt/HDG/ias, it only goes up and down in 10’s and not 1’s. I believe the ALT only goes up and down by 1,000’s. Does this happen with you as well? Is there a fix for this? Are you familiar with this issue?
Much appreciated, it should theoretically work, however when It comes to the “managed” and “select” modes (push, pull) it may require some additional work arounds
@@wallyrodaviation to be honest I cant even set up flaps with Fenix A320. I choose Flaps Axis and also 0-100% Flaps Axis and ih have no reaction in cockpit 🤷♂️

Wow! Big help. 👍😊
Is it correct that this does not work for the Fenix airbus?
Thanks for this video
A couple of questions
What is the index bind do?
@@wallyrodaviation I think you may find that if you load the Cessna 152 and try to rotate the heading bug with you mouse wheel it will go up in 10 degrees
I have the Honeycomb yoke and if I have any of the five light switches or the master or avionics or the engine start switches bound the heading bug dial in the Cessna will only mouse wheel dial in 10 degree increments
If you have time hop in the Cessna and try turning the heading dial bug with your mouse and see if you can increase/decrease in 1 degree increments . I'm extremely curious to see if you don't have the problem and if so trying to figure out why I do!
@@noisecraftstudio5817 YEP, there must be a bug
Thank You That Was Very Clear And precise
Hello again, could you do a similar video as this one but for the autopilot in the Classic 172 that has the G530?
the knob on the right doesnt work like that anymore because it auto binds the right knob to Plus and munis you MUST unbind them first! also is tghere a way to make it so that the heading changes 1 at a time INSTEAD of 10 at a time?
Is it possible that you post a global table of yours settings i have trouble with my msfs settings installed in french and menu are very charged
All my settings are in the videos on my channel, those should be able to guide you
Things have changed drastically for bindings. Can you update this for the SU 5
Is it a problem, if I have assigned the buttons, but there is no white flashing background when I click it?????? Seems sus. Great video though!
to my knowledge, it shouldn't be an issue, things in the interface could have changed since then, but i'm not sure. And thank you, glad to help!
Thanks man, I appreciate it! I did not actually bind the push/pull function to anything, although it seems to be okay without it
@@wallyrodaviation Do you use your mouse to push/pull the knob then? Arrow UP is a PUSH and arrow DOWN is a PULL
@@richardsauerbrun2412 Yes normally I use my mouse since I have a wireless mouse
Is this pretty much the same process for X-plane 11 ,
Hey! Awesome video! I do have question though. How do i stop using the mouse to pull/push de Heading/Speed/VS ? Since sometimes I just want to go back to letting the plane fly by itself
Hi, thank you! Are you referring to the A320 and its FCU push/pull managed/select? or are you referring to an autopilot disengage?
Help
Hmmm, if you are talking about the Vertical Speed not working, make sure you press the VS button to engage Vertical Speed
This is a bug. Check out RMAG's channel for a good explanation - ruclips.net/video/bJSBxbmC3Eo/видео.html
Yes this issue was quickly resolved, however even now it may be changed slightly. But no, no additional software was used
i want to program my auto pilot but it says this is used already somewhere else can i bind it anyway?
Yes it should still work, however I recommend finding what that is just to avoid future confusion
Can you use Heading button to turn on/off managed heading on the A320?
I have not tried yet, but you may be able to fashion something up
Thank you for the information. Most helpful. By The Way, how do I get the lights to turn on? Thanks! Rich J
In order for the lights to be operational, there must be a plugin installed. On my channel I have a video showing how to do so if it helps. cheers!
Is there a reason when I press HDG and the other toggle buttons it doesn't turn off on?
It could depend on the aircraft you are using, MSFS has changed a bit since I made this video, so it could be programmed differently
@@wallyrodaviationyeah that makes sense thank you
Thanks from the UK for the great video!
Thanks! :D
Thank you! So on the Bravo the knobs dont push/pull, for the a320 I use a switch to switch between managed and selected modes
CRS is Course. It sets the course for the number 1 Nav
This video really helped me! Can you make a video on the same thing but for xp11 and xp12
I’ll see if I can get to it 👍🏻
Not working for FENIX A320. In Cessna Analog Caravan you can not increase decrease VS
your amazing
Oh man, this works for me in planes with G1000 but it does not work for the BN2 Islander (Bendixking KAP140 autopilot) :(
Is there anyway to provide feedback to MSFS other than Discord or MSFS site ? I cant get logged in to either due to errors, and other nonsense.
"INDEX" is a word never seen in gaming (lol) development... nor "translate camera" ... nor "SET" button assignment. And good heavens you would think that the button assigment software would not require the On then Off requirement. It is the only time I have ever seen this quirkiness for button assignments - do they not have access to other software design ? Are they Literature majors ? And when will they allow prefix assignments to the joystick (Ctrl) (ALT) etc.
BTW CRS is course change from your flight plan.
this really helped
Can someone verify if the nav button is correct? It does stay on the GPS track when it pressed.
The default keybinds use indexes like you setup for the left knob but use ‘min/max’ keybinds for the right knob. Did you see any functionality difference compared to the button combos you suggest?
In the default config some of the functions didn't work, but after I programmed them the worked either better or just worked period.
Ok mine worked with the defaults but I tried some of your key binds and they worked good too. Curios what didn’t work etc.
@@RMAG For me it was the speed and VS that didn't work, maybe it was the plane IDK
@@RMAG someone may have done a video on that
REV is Back course
Yes it happens to me as well. To my knowledge there is no fix until MSFS makes one.
Nice video. I hope it will works with Fenix Airbus A320
Much appreciated, it should theoretically work, however when It comes to the “managed” and “select” modes (push, pull) it may require some additional work arounds
@@wallyrodaviation to be honest I cant even set up flaps with Fenix A320. I choose Flaps Axis and also 0-100% Flaps Axis and ih have no reaction in cockpit 🤷♂️
