I just got the Bravo from the Aerosoft Store for 40% off just as the news regarding Honeycomb was breaking last week. I am very happy to say my Bravo arrived with me in Cornwall 12 hours before I was expecting it and at just £145. I've been flying with it in MSFS since it arrived and I can't emphasise the extent that it rules over my previous setup of dual Saitek/Logitech Throttle Quads - the appearance, features, build quality, operation, ease of setting up, look and feel, packaging and every other aspect of this product are exceptional in every degree. The best £150 I've spent on flight simming since 1982 and a product that "feels at home" with all my other hardware. I am happy as Larry - it's just a shame that the Aerosoft offer is no longer in affect, otherwise I would be sending everyone to their online store!!!
@@g-locmedia It was weird, I was contemplating the Bravo and just happened to see and be reading the articles online regarding the Honeycomb statement made last week and watching all the "doom and gloom" videos on here and a few minutes later I got an email from Aerosoft saying the Bravo was 40% off, so I said "fuck that, I'm having one" and ordered it right there. Just goes to show that signing up for notifications from these stores is worth while. In this case it was "made to be" ;) Oh, and £20 of that £145 total was the basic "slow" shipping!
I very much agree with your assessment. It’s very good value for money and the build quality is high. My criticisms of it are the trim wheel is a bit ‘light’ and the throttle handles are on the small side. The appearance of a lot of 3D printed after market options suggests others agree. ProDeskSim that you recommend is the only one of these that I know of that passes through the input from the go around buttons. I prefer to use my Virpil throttle for jets in DCS but for props in IL-2 and MSFS the Honeycomb has what I need. I’ll have to check out the silicone trim wheel cover. Thanks.
Thanks for the review, been on the fence about this for awhile mostly due to the mounting solution (my desk is slightly thicker than the brackets allow) but I found a solution that'll work for my desk. They sell XL clamps but they are sold out, but I realized I can install it on a small coffee table that'll fit under my desk and be easily removable when I'm not using it.
No worries. I one of my favourite piece of sim gears and yea it only takes a few mins to mount/unmount. Just had a look your channel @flightsimschool I’ll be an avid watcher from here. Great value content.
The thrust reverser detents are worn after 2 years heavy use with Longitude. They are not positive stop like for example TM Airbus throttles, which I use now Captain's pack x. There is an $70 addon for Bravo that has positive rev stops.
XPC I reckon it will be quite nice. As for the throttle it will pair with the XPC nicely. Will be a cool setup. Also thanks for your kind comment and glad the review was helpful.
@@samuelcarstens6152 hey so yea it’s amazing! I absolutely love it it works a feels amazing, but there were a problem where for some reason one day the lights wouldn’t work on the Xbox but one day I loaded it up and the lights started working so yes this thing is AMAZING!!
Expanding flying from DCS to MSFS 2020. coming from a WinWing full HOTAS system I am shopping for a FS yoke and throttle. Great review here of both. Question - is the Alpha/bravo setup overkill for a newbie to MSFS AND more importantly, is that setup overkill for someone who plans to just fly GA aircraft? Great channel.. have been sub for months and enjoy the content.
MSFS is an epic sim. The bravo throttle quadrant and yoke is perfect for GA flying. If you were only flying commercial I might point you in the directions of the TM yoke instead but for GA flying the Honeycomb gear is gear and probably has the smoothest yoke out there in the consumer market. However, don't discount the Turtle Beach Velocity as an all in one solution. Would be a great yoke and throttle starter. The Yoke can be slightly sticky for the first 20-30hrs of flight but smooths out over time and the yoke itself can be a bit creaky. You could also go for the Logitech Yoke although if you end up really getting in to it you will quickly outgrow it in terms of feel and build quality. To answer your question more directly: The Honeycomb Yoke and throttle are actually best suited to GA aircraft than anything else. I don't think its overkill for a newbie if you have the spare cash. If price is a massive concern look to the Logitech Yoke and Throttle. Much much cheaper but I'd bet if you got right in to it, it will be on ebay within a month. Thanks for your kind comments on my channel. Glad you're enjoying the content.
Make sure you purchase newer Alpha yoke for xbox version which is higher res in pitch. Uses hall sensors. I had to hanger my alpha after 2 years of heavy use due to stickiness in pitch noticeable mainly in flair. No hall sensors=low res in pitch. . Btw, original alpha not newer one with hall sensors in pitch. Thes are fair priced consumer products.
No one seems to comment on the lights not working after a computer update. This has been going on for a long time and people seem to be satisfied that you just watch a RUclips video to learn how to reset the system every time. If it can be done with a "work-around", why can't that be incorporated in a Honeycomb update in collaboration with Microsoft for MSFS2020? Regardless of what you pay for something, you would like it to work properly. That said, it is still a very good control system.
I was looking for that video of the review for Citation Longitude. I am a professional pilot on Longitude and any help would be great to get any comments on the throttle quadrant
I fly msfs longitude almost everyday. Great g5000 by WT. Retired. Great vatsim/pe aircraft. The bravo rev paddle dtents are soft and totally worn on my bravo. Hangered it. Each throttle lever needs the equivalent of 3 buttons and e contacts for, rev paddles, AT, and Toga, for the longitude. Bravo only has 2 contacts. There are 3rd party addons, with positive rev stops, and 3 buttons addons with extra wire. Google search etsy i think. I ended up with tm airbus captains pack. $300 the quad has thrust rev levers with pos stop gate etc. works pretty good. i use the second lever button for AT and left side button for toga. Abus detents are removable for mct flex toga, flaps and speedbrakes. The friction is a bit weak but there are 3rd party friction enhancers. Hey, need a safety pilot i do everything for free. ha vist my free site at aviationknowledge dot org for pics of my mobile simpit longitude Air Manager panels etc. not affiliated don't sell anything KAPV area
Forgot to say. The TM Boeing pendular style yoke is high res hall effect is a better fit for Longitude pendular yoke. It has anti-wear pendular motion physics as opposed to shaft style that always wear at center detent in pitch. The boeing yoke has a bunch of consumer grade throttle gear levers and a goofy shape. Whatever. If you opt for Alpha yoke, be sure to get newer version, higher res, hall effect sensor, xbox version. I hangered my 1st gen alpha as well. Worn in pitch. The boeing tm quad is dumb. Avoid in purchase if possible. Actually i am happy with high res Airbus sidestick for longitude. Think Bombardier Global 8000 with fbw active sidesticks and glass, ha
I also love this unit, but when mine had an issue getting service, or even a response from honeycomb is painful. Have a request in now, 11 days old, the last time it took 3 weeks, they replaced it but that took 5 weeks. Horrible company that makes great products.
If you hit ToGa or use auto throttle, do the handles move automaticly with it? And what about the trimmwheele, does it turn automaticly when the plane trim?
Bravo after 2 years heavy use. Thrust reverser detents worn and almost smooth. No friction on trim wheel. Gear handle too low. Always bump trim wheel. Lighted labels take extra software setup. Setup once, never used again. Sticky pad mount waste of time and design money. No detent system for flaps. 3rd party only. No way to have AT, Toga, and Reversers paddles on one lever, like most corporate jets. Fair price for prosumer product tho. Still waiting 3 months for Airbus addon.
New sub here great review of this was curious to know if the lighting issue has been resolved as of yet ? Or is there still an additional file needed for the lighting. Thanks I’m advance
Hello. bought an alpha yoke and bravo throttle and connected to x box with a hub. The yoke comes up in the menu, but not the throttle. what could be wrong?
Love the throttle, but have had just over a year, and two buttons are no longer working (TOGA on one throttle, and reverser on another), due to broken wiring--this is not uncommon, and Honeycomb needs to change the way the wires are laid out on the various throttles and do a better job of protecting them (silcon sleeve for example). There is a youtube video about this problem
I made a review of the XPC if you want to see what it’s like in the sim with an Xbox. The XPC is slightly upgrades and only it works with Xbox, not the regular Alpha.
I would never buy another product from Honeycomb. I submitted a RMA request for the Bravo Throttle in April 2023. I still have not received the replacement and the reason is because their "shipping label machine" is down. Customer service is so bad. NEVER AGAIN #honneycomb
I purchased the airbus addon $59 directly from SD office and i never got it. Never got refund. 1 email response saying supply problem blah blah been over a year now. No answer on website phone number. Decent consumer grade products but be sure to buy from reputable 3rd party, not direct.
After 2 years of heavy use of Alpha and Bravo: Alpha is hangered. Very sticky and worn in pitch. Low resolution due to no hall sensors. Response curves, no help. Ignition on right side? Comon guys. Reaching under yoke with left hand while pushing mix with right hand is dumb. AP disconnect on right side? Huh Worthless stick pad concept, round housing shape makes mounting stuff on top difficult. 4" long tightener clamps that always get bumped by knees. Fair price for prosumer product tho.
