Both cats are obsessed with our One Fast Cat.
One of them took to it immediately. The other didnt touch it for a solid two months then one night I woke up to the sound of her running on it. Now she uses it more than he does.
**Pro-tip** If the One Fast Cat wheel is loud, contact them. They'll send you "sound dampening strips" for free. They work. Their customer service is top notch in my experience. I broke a part during setup and they sent me the replacement for free.

I wish that was my experience. I was looking at the One Fast Cat wheel for a long time. When it went on sale for $250, I bought it (it was $400). It wasn’t the easiest to put together, but I managed. None of my 5 indoor cats (now 4) would use it. I tried everything: treats, catnip, feather wand, ignoring, nothing worked over months. I finally sold it to a wildlife rehabber for $100. She needed it for her armadillo habitat.

@cobaltclam What a wonderful story about a sightless kitten with a healthy case of the "zoomies." Hearing how enthusiastic she is, I can't help imagining having the cat wheel set up to spin a small generator, similar to the bicycle wheel hub dynamos that were once a standard part on Raleigh 3-speed bikes, to power the headlight (I'm dating myself. I had a Raleigh' "fold up" 3-speed bike for many years, and rode it everywhere. The built-in hub dynamo was terrific). With things like computers, phone chargers and other small appliances becoming smaller as well as energy efficient, having a laptop or LED reading lamp "powered by Zoomies" may be the Next Big Thing, lol. Thanks for sharing.

We bought the Ferris / ZiggyDoo wheel for our two twin brother Siamese cats. The adventurous one took to it almost immediately, and still loves using it every day, after more than six months. His reluctant brother ignored it for the first several months. One day I gave him a little bit of support, holding him up and using my hand to move the wheel beneath him. After a few minutes he figured out what we were doing, and started moving his feet. The next day he tried it again himself, gingerly. On the third day he got himself walking on it. Now he absolutely loves it, uses it everyday, even more than his brother. Both of them use it to burn off their excess energy. They literally need that wheel now. For indoor cats, it gives them more exercise than anything else! Well worth the cost given how much it improves their well-being. They like it even more when I join in and help move the wheel faster.

I got the One Fast Cat Wheel at the end of 2021. Of five cats in the house, the four older cats (ages 3-16) have had nothing to do with it. If I put a treat in the wheel it's like the treat becomes invisible, they just wander off. The fifth cat was less than a year old at the time, and he loves the wheel; he runs on it at all hours, but especially 3-5 AM. Just completely full tilt in short bursts. And he enjoys sitting in it, too. It's his wheel now.
The wheel I originally bought looked like the one in this video; the two end pieces of the base stood up on little feet. The whole thing would move around when my cat ran on it -- it tended to get pushed against the wall, where it would start rubbing off on the wall and staining it black -- and it was pretty noisy (like at 1:32, but faster). After six months the plastic of the base where the rod is inserted snapped. One Fast Cat sent me a replacement free of charge, and that also broke after five months. I noticed on One Fast Cat's testimonial page that they have lots of videos showing petite little Bengals tearing it up, and a few larger cats sedately plodding along in their wheels, but I didn't see any plus-sized cats running hard. The one cat who runs on it is a big boy, at 14.5 lbs, and I guess it wasn't designed for a cat of his build giving it his all. But!
I wasn't under warranty the second time, so I bought a replacement base from their website for $60. The picture they show is the old base kit, but what they sent was, I assume, their 6th generation base. Instead of standing on two feet per side, the new bases stand on the entire width of the bottom edge (with three little pads each that you stick on for grip and avoid scraping the floor). You can see it in the assembly instructions linked on the order page (although, again, the order page itself still shows the old base):
    cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0061/4652/3170/files/OFC-Base_Panel_Assembly_Instructions_Web.pdf
Since it's not raised up on feet any more, the wheel now runs a lot quieter and it doesn't move around so much. I'm guessing this will also reduce stress on the attachment point so hopefully it will last longer than 6 months.

I was considering purchasing a cat wheel for my high energy cat. It was rather confusing with all the features & reviews. Then, I found some very helpful information: 1. Don't purchase a wheel with a inner diameter less than 48", b/c anything less in can cause spine injury to your cat. I really appreciate all the research you have completed, it has made my decision much easier.
Thank you, for helping the consumer you did a wonderful job.

My cats LOVE their wheels. My big boy spends half the night running in his Ziggydoo, and the kitten tries to but usually gets spun out when his big brother tries to join😂 They're both Highlanders, and very high energy.
Even my old ladies do short walks in them from time to time. I have both the ferris wheel and the one fast cat, and they have a clear preference for the ferris, though they do use both. The size of the wheel is much better for their spines.
The scraping you hear on the OFC is apparently standard. I had an older model that didn't scrape and was disappointed with the new gen. When I contacted CS with a video, they said that was a normal amount of sound.
Even if my big boy could fit in that wood one, he would have it flying apart at the seams very quickly. He's VERY hard on his wheels😂
I've always just shown the cats how the wheels work by putting squeeze treats around them, and then I find them using them on their own in the next couple days. Even my 20 year old used to love doing her "mall walks" on them all the way up until she passed

My Devon Rexes love Ferris Catt wheel, especially older one he wouldn't shut up till you come and watch him running the wheel. His babe sister is still trying to learn how to use it, instead of running she tries to climb it 😅 Picking Ferris cat wheel was definitely the right choice as my cat loves to run between 2 to 6 AM and it's still noisy enough when he turns into the Flash.

I have 3 cats… I bought the one fast cat for my high energy boy who’s always harassing his 2 sisters hoping he might find an outlet for that energy - and he’s scared of it. He’s scared of anything that moves including the litter robot. His smallest sister shows no interest and his fat sister only goes on it when she wants a treat. She’ll get on, take 3 steps, sit down and meow for a treat. Once in a very great while she’ll run on it for 30 seconds. She does like to scratch on the foam padding. I haven’t found it very effective and it takes up a bunch of space but I keep it because she likes it.

Thank you for the video. I currently have the one fast cat wheel. I have a BUNCH of cats, not all of them use it. But it is so worth it for the cats that do! Many of my cats will run in it to burn off excess energy, I live in an apartment and so I like that it gives them a way to run as fast as they want to, some will get on for a leisurely walk, and some will get on it for my attention and praise. 😊 it has been a wonderful addition to my home. I also foster kittens and I find that they pick up and enjoy the wheel very quickly. With other cats it take more consistency with treats/toys to get them comfortable before they love it. I highly recommend getting your cats a cat wheel!

I see a lot of comments of people saying that they doubt it would get used and I was definitely one of those people until I got one! I got a One Fast Cat wheel secondhand so it was really cheap. I thought for sure my boys would love it but they were all terrified and it was my oldest girl that took to it right away. She was 7 at the time, a little chunky, not active at all, hardly ever even got zoomies. She runs on it all the time and loves it. The boys needed some time and I honestly forgot about trying to coax them to use it for like a year 😅 But they had gotten used to playing and napping on it so one day I sat down with some treats and slowly turned the wheel for them as they walked, and they realized it wasn't too bad after all. One of them for some unknown orange-cat-minded reason decided that he has to shout the ENTIRE time he's running, and sometimes he runs marathons, so that's uhhh kinda annoying... When I got a kitten last year, I put him on the wheel and he literally immediately took off in a full sprint which shocked me, because he'd never even seen one before or watched anyone else use it yet! Sometimes he runs so fast that I get scared the wheel is going to bounce off the base or that he'll get flung out 😵‍💫 I've only ever seen him fall off once and it was because I startled him when I dropped a box. I saw him fly out the side and starfish across the room and I felt bad but I've never laughed so hard in my life (he was fine and was running again an hour later).
Anyway! If anyone is having trouble getting their cat to use their wheel, try forgetting about it for a while and let them get used it being there as a normal piece of furniture. Then when you try again, they'll be much more confident about it moving under their feet.

I had used the ferris wheel for 3 years, or at least, my two bengals. The cats loved it so much, i had to give it away when we moved across Europe. Some downsides you probably miss in the beginning:
    1) If you cats are like mine, you will need two. This wheel actually started a long lasting feud and rivalry between the bro and sis. Not only did they always want to use it, or rather, she runs like sporty spice and he tries to get her off so he can lounge or walk, but it became their way of getting approval and my attention. She always screamed as loud as she could "look at me, look at me" which at some point kinda pissed me off as it was covid days and i was working from home and she was audible always. Even though it started with them running together (not recommended as per the instructions, but try explain that to them), it soon became apparent she was always faster. He trotted, she galloped. They started fighting, every night for who gets to use the wheel, she usually lost and got a bit stressed out because of it.
    2) The padding they run on... after a few years it means you have to vaccuum EVERYDAY, because there will be a mess of black thingies all around the wheel
    3) They run so much, they had wounds on their heels (or inverted knees i am not sure what that is called in the catanatomy). Even to this day, months after losing the wheel, they still have no fur there.
    4) the neighbours from the lower appartment: the elderly lady thought i was racing with a shopping cart every evening, the new neighbour said he couldnt sleep at night. I had put a yoga mat under it to dampen it somewhat..
But yes, it was totally worth it, it kept the indoor cats active and it was a big part of their social live, twisted as it may have been. Now they are a bit bored it seems even though their m2 living space doubled in size. I find myself browsing for cat wheels again, and the wheel has led me back to watching reviews about the ferris wheel... I was tempted by the other two bc the first one is well, cheaper, but the combination of cheap plastic and the apparent noise keeps me away.
In the depot store here i saw a variation on your amazon thing and it was 245 euro, which seemed a lot for such a small thing. The draw was it seemed quiet and well, given the size it didnt look like i would have to make space for the big old stargate again in my living room. Also, it was already put together :D..
Coming from a mess of black thingies, the carpet looked attractive too - but i may cede to your point of it being a bit dangerous, especially given the bengal sprinter here.
If i do get it i will make a vid and try post it here if i can still find it! It does look like a nice lounge chair

Same, and honestly I'm still tempted (hence why I'm here), but I know it'll almost definitely go unused unless there is some kind of incentive. And for my two cats, that would mean there'd need to be something built-in that motivates them to run/chase it using the wheel (feather, laser... something. Idk, I'm not the expert designing a ~$300 product lol). Manual training with treats *might* work, but that's a HUGE might, and honestly, as awful as this sounds, I just don't have the time now. We just bought a house, just had a newborn, and while I give both my cats tons of attention, it's mostly in the form of snuggles and pets when I have those few moments to relax, or when we get in bed.
So, I feel bad knowing they need more exercise, especially as they're both overweight (the 25 pound male is actually less overweight than the ~14 lb female just due to stature/build. but they both really need to lose weight. They're hitting kitty middle age and I worry about them if they don't start shedding weight now. They do play, but the male cat is so dominating that the female cat is basically too intimated. She'll start to play, and the male will immediately run over and take the whole situation over, so she'll just leave and go lay down somewhere b/c he's a big bully to her. Tried all the other automated toys. Some work a bit, but they just really don't get enough movement and they truly need an exercise wheel AND the will to use it. Only one exists :(.
NOTE: my cats, I promise, are very happy lol. I feel like my comment may have made it seem otherwise. They're just spoiled and need to get more exercise, which isn't easy as indoor cats (not safe for them to be outdoors where I live). If anybody knows of any other products that might exist or has any tips, let me know. Manual playing is just too tough right now, not just with the newborn, but also because of what I mentioned w/ the bigger male cat taking over when he sees my little girl playing. So, theoretically, in order for manual play we would have to separate the two - one upstairs, one downstairs - and have my wife play with one while I play with the other. Something we aren't able to do

I agree that the Ferris Cat Wheel is a good wheel - UNTIL you need to change the pad. I have a cat lounge where several cats use the wheel every day. Eventually, the cat's claws break down the pad and bits start falling off. ZiggyDoo sells replacement pads, but there's no way to get the worn pads off of the wheel and we've got bits of the pad to sweep up through out the day so that the cats don't eat them. We've been trying to get a resolution to this issue for over a year now and ZiggyDoo still has no solution. Note - we also have the OneFastCat wheel and the pads on this wheel also eventually need replacement & we've been able to accomplish that. We really love the quality of the Ferris Cat Wheel and would give it 5 stars if the pads could be replaced.

The wheel itself didn't last as long as it should have. It broke twice and I had to purchase parts that were on back order which also took a long time. I also purchased replacement pads and those arrived quickly but taking the old pads off the wheel is nearly impossible. I still have not been able to replace the pad and they are sitting in the original package unused. For the time the wheel was functional, my babies (2) ran rapidly. The wheel itself is extremely noisy and will wake you out of a deep sleep. I had to get used to knowing it was the wheel and not someone trying to break into my home. I would like to purchase another wheel but not One Fast Cat as there were too many negative experiences for me, yet on the other hand, once we passed the frustration, my babies did enjoy it. I will look into Ferris Cat Wheel even if I have to pay more.

I love the design of the small one because it looks like it'll be pretty much silent. If it was bigger and there was some way of adding resistance to it so it doesn't spin so freely it'll be perfect. I think your cat likes it because it's got a backing on it and feels like a "box" 🙂 I like how the bigger ones come in sections, could probably 3D print them 😁

The problem with small wheels like that is that it can put a lot of stress on your cat's back. You don't want your cat to get injured -- that'll be a lot more expensive than a wheel.

I watch a RUclips channel featuring a cat shelter in Ohio a lot. They have a nice big wheel. There is about 30 cats that live in room. One cat likes to play with the wheel. Most of the time she sits next to it and spins it with her paw. I would say, odds are your cat won’t use it. Expensive and takes up a lot of room. The shelter has their logo on it, helps with their branding.

I have 5 cats. The youngest is now about 6 moths old. While my oldest kitties at not interested in the wheel at all, Baby Archie reallly loves it. He gets on it and really goes to town! I don't know what brand my cat wheel is because I found it on the street. Somebody threw it out! I carried it home in two pieces on the bus. I initially sprinkled the wheel with catnip to get their attention but that is about as far as it went with the older cats. When I used a lasser pointer it did the trick for Archie. It 's in my kitchen now at the end of the counter, When iam in the kitchen Archies gets on the wheel to get my attention so he gets a treat. I think the trick here is to get your kitties started young on the cat wheel and that the wider diameter wheels are the best.

I bought the Penn-Plax kitty wheel for my 3 cats, one was a kitten at the time, and they hated it. My cat who was a kitten would only use it but it is definitely wayyyyyy too small for bigger/adult cats to use. I may try the ZiggyDoo wheel once I get a bigger place for my boyfriend, cats, and I. But I would not recommend the Penn-Plax wheel to anyone. The cats won't run on it if they're big/bigger and it would just gather dust. Luckily I was able to return it after hunting for almost 5 days for a box big enough to fit all the parts after disassembling it since the UPS store wanted to charge 300+ for packaging it. Definitely keep the box if you buy that one and give it a week to see if your cat(s) likes it so you don't have to go through the pain I did for keeping it for almost 30 days lmao

Hi, Just wanted to share, I have 2 Bengals, and I have had the One Cat Fast wheel for around 6 years now, it has stood the test of time and is still in one piece, and is used a lot, especially by one of my cats imparticular. Both cats have access to the Garden, but use the wheel when in the house or on an evening. One of the things to take into account with a wheel is ergonomics, which is why the other wheels are both around 48" Diameter, and the Penn-Plax wheel is just too small, which would cause an adult cat to be Arched when running, not very good for them.

I won't buy ANYTHING from Amazon so I went direct to One Fast Cat. Assembly was easy. Buck would lay in the wheel. I do freeze dried rabbit and that pleases both cats. Wheel and laser pointer interests the cats on floor but not wheel. What both really like is to be combed & brushed on the wheel. Tigger walks right along. Wheel was set up 2.5mo ago and Tigger has taken to it. Buck wants to but Tigger owns it. Buck's exercise is 1/3 toilet paper tubes. He goes thru the house like Lebron James and then drops it at my feet. Both cats are 15lbs and 10yo.

If I may share a story with you and your viewers.
A very long time ago, before man walked the Earth, man and dog lived in another realm. A wormhole to Earth opened, and man stepped through. Just before the wormhole closed, a dog jumped through to be with his master.
From this point on, man and dog were linked in history together. Dog became man's best friend.
As time passed, man began to farm and live in houses. Cat lived in the wild and did not interact with man. After a short amount of time had passed, man and cat met and through a mutually beneficial relationship, man let cat stay on the land and cat protected the food supply from rodents.
It was not long before a loving bond formed between man and cat.
Man brought cat into the home. Cat continued to protect the food supply. When man relaxed, cat would lay on man"s lap and cuddle.
    Cat became family.
In the time of today, man, dog, and cat reside together. Cat may not be man's best friend, but cat is family.
It is common to say, "This is my dog, and this is the family cat.
    The family cat.

I have two One Fast Cat wheels. (One with flashing skateboard wheels!) After a couple years, the foam pads got pretty torn up and ugly on the first one, so I have DIY-replaced them with cheap adhesive carpet tiles (also extra carpet tape), and while one of my cats loved the wheel before, she just ADORES it now! I guess maybe the extra traction she gets is more satisfying? Has it stayed looking nice? Not exactly-- the carpet tiles have pulls and "furriness" now, but it's still an aesthetic improvement over the original foam tiles, and certainly more cat fun. So replacing the foam pads on the second wheel is on my To Do list.

We have 4 cats. 3 of them like to run on the wheels. We have two wheels, the Fast Cat and The Ferris. Our smallest cat likes it when she can chase a toy. All three cats will at times spontaneously start running. This often happens in the middle of the night. The Ferris is slightly wider which doesn't seem to matter much. There is one other important difference. The Ferris has a lot more mass. What this means, especially for the smaller cat, is that once the wheel gets moving, it is more inclined to keep moving. In the case of the smaller cat, she can rev it up to the point where if she stops, she will be hurled backwards as the wheel slows.
One note on the Fast Cat. After about a year, the support structure demonstrated a flaw. The plastic ends that are held together by a metal bar broke. I was able to purchase just those two parts. The new ones had clearly been modified to reduce the breaking problem. We haven't had any problems with the new supports in over a year.

Im extremely skeptical of these. Reading through these comments it seems some cats do genuinely like them, but id only try one if I could return it and they just seem so bulky.
For my high energy cat I bought a child's fishing reel and tied his favorite toy to it. Im sure im not the first person to come up with this idea, but it works so much better than all the similar cat toys ive seen out there that mimic it. I cast it down the stairs (or anywhere really) and he just bolts after it. While running up the stairs he'll even jump up them to try and get it. Once he catches it, I'll leave the reel unlocked and he'll even carry it back to "kill" it more. You can get these reels for 10-20 bucks on Amazon and they are a really fun toy IMO.

The cats there may just not have understood how the cat wheel worked. It takes a bit of daily training, patience and persistence (as well as a high-energy cat) - just like leash and harness training a cat to be able to wear leash/harness for walks outside. If no one there ever tried to train/teach those cats daily to use the wheel and thought the cats would just figure it out for themselves, then it's no surprise that the cats didn't know what to do with it. Food or toy motivated cats would be easier to train/teach by offering them treats or toys (wand toys or laser pointers) when they are on the wheel. First step is to get the cat comfortable with just being on and around the wheel (and to associate it with positive things such as treats, praise, pets and toys), then slowly get them used to walking on the wheel with either treats or toys held at a slight distance enough to encourage them walking, and lastly to get them to run on it by holding treats/toys further and higher up so they actually have to jog a bit to get near. That said, it still does depend on the individual cat. I have 3 cats, and so far only 1 (the pure Siamese) will occasionally now go have a short jog on the cat wheel we got for them (a cheaper wooden generic cat wheel found on Amazon for $100-200). I did try to teach the other two but they didn't really take to it (they are less food/toy/human attention motivated) vs our pure Siamese girl who is motivated by toys, treats, and human attention/praise/pets.

Unfortunately, it has jumped the track twice, rolling across the room and scaring my cat! It’s rather unstable, and I know what you mean about the scrapie sound. That comes from putting those plates over the wheels which initially I didn’t use, but I put them on to keep it from jumping off the track. My cat doesn’t like using the wheel anymore, except just to walk slowly on it, whereas he used to jam! I’m now here looking for treadmills. If you do a video on those, I would love to see.

Maybe that’s why he liked the last one? As a running cat treadmill it’s not really well made for that. You said it has not a lot of flaws, could cause some people to get hurt if they’re trying to stop the wheel or even one of the kitties face could get hurt if one of them is running, and one of them sees something under the wheel or next to the wheel. It could also hurt them as well. I really think it’s just really relaxing for them just to chill in there not actually run on it though. It has a scratching thing so if they did want to scratch on it they could so that’s probably why they liked it more. It was just really a spot for them to chill in, instead of actually using it xD

Well I just wrote a long message about my Good & Bad cat wheel experience. The bad one was from "The Cat Wheel Company" who went out of business (I was reimbursed, but others after me were not). The Good, but very expensive wheel for my 2 indoor Ragdoll sisters, "The McClaw Cat Wheel". It is one piece, all wood crafted and it will last all my lifetime and then some. But it cost me with shipping to Hawaii in South Kona where I reside, over 2200$ and had to be cleared by customs in Honolulu. It was worth it too me since my cats run on it all the time every day. I used a toy (like in your video) to get them to run on these wheels. The first time it only took me a half hour & they were both running on it, sometimes in tandem. I'm not sure if McClaw is still in business, but they are the best, but probably too expensive for most. Maybe a bit cheaper for those living near New York. Enjoy your cat wheels. P.S. in my research back in 2011, I found out that a Cat Wheel needs to be 48 inches, the smaller wheels are dangerous as they can hurt their spine & the one from Amazon would be good for a Ferret or some other small animal, maybe a kitten. Take care & Aloha from Big Island!
