Boom! What a year - thanks once again for all your support and let me know your favorite moments from Junk Food Japan in the comments! Here's to a great 2023!
Can't wait dude!!!
When are we getting a JFJ Discord?
@@FUnzzies1 this!^
Another guy who found out about you through Chris Broad, and I'm incredibly glad I did! You've a very great, larger than life personality, always seem full of energy, and just really seem to enjoy life. Its always great fun watching, no matter what video of yours I've seen. Serious props to the editor, as well. They do fantastic work, and really elevate the heck out of the videos past their great starting point! Lets make sure to mark the sub count on the 31st of this month, because I absolutely guarantee a channel this awesome is GOING places, for sure!
Thank you for your encouragement! We really want to take this channel all over the world. So here’s to getting into the mayor league next year !
ITADAKIMASU!!! All the way to the top!
Merry Christmas to you and family. Your Camera/Editor: Paul Ballard is top notch. Would be great to see you get together with 5am Ramen for a delicious bowl of Ramen 🍜. Itadakimasu Umai🙏
Paul and Marcus are amazing for sure! could not have done it without them! and now I want to eat Ramen
@@JunkFoodJapan Would be great if we get to meet your incredible camera and editor guys in a future episode
Wow. I didn't realise, but I had met your wife at a charity event in Japan several years ago. She is heavily into charity and seems like a great and kind person. Love your channel and all the best for Junk Food Japan in 2023!
That’s crazy small world. But yes her NPO Place to Grow has been doing Charity for more than 10 years in Minami Sanriku. She was happy to read this comment
Nick's accent sounds so much like my Midwestern dad I legit thought he was American. I love Nick's story what an interesting dude!
I was shocked to hear he had no connections to the US whatsoever, honestly I think he sounds more like a new Yorker
So my Dad was actually Greek American and although I have never proper lived in the US I have a US passport
@@JunkFoodJapan so cool of you to actually give us more answers take care man
@Junk Food Japan okay cool! Thank you for the response! Merry Christmas from the Midwest. Hope you're having an amazing day!
He sounds Danish, no doubt. His accent isn't that strong though
Not a question but appreciation comment. I found you through Chris at the start of this channel, absolutely loved your personality and energy. I can't wait to see more of you in the future and Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Thank you so much and Happy Holidays to you too. Next year is going to a lot of fun for sure
Absolutely love the take on "junk food" and working out. Looking forward to another year of Junk Food Japan!!
And so so we too
An excellent video, I'd like to see yourself, your wife, Chris, Sharla, Ryotoro, Natsuki, Connor, American Pete all go to Okinawa and do some spicy food challenges whilst there.
Now that sounds like fun
@@JunkFoodJapan I hope it happens and I can't wait to see the reactions, Merry belated Christmas from England.
A difficult childhood often creates diamonds. A lot of pressure tends to do that.
It was a good thing for me to happen, of course I was scared shitless back in the day. But it did start the beginning of the rest of my life so I don't regret it
Please collab with Go North Japan - Quinlan does tours, and I bet he would love to take you on a mountain hike and plan a tour of the junk foodiest places in Morioka!
I am on it actually, just hang around and your wish is my command.
Went to Tivoli in Copenhagen earlier in december and had a flæskesteg-burger with some extra pork cracklings.. DELICIOUS!🤤
Now we are talking !!! So jealous
What a great Xmas gift !
You're a natural story teller.
Merry Xmas to you and your family Nic 👍🍺🌲
Thank you so much for your message and hanging around for our food stories
Every and each video makes me want to go to Japan even more, specially for the food and culture. Did you ever think to do a "travel food guide"? Love your work, from the Chris training to your love for food.
The show will be traveling around Japan for sure !
People at KFC won't be loving you after this video, but I don't care, I personally love your channel and your editors to bits.
Especially the editors 😜
As a request, while we wait for the channel to grow as it deserves, I'd like you to explore traditional regional foods of Japan. I am confident there will be typical restaurants in Tokyo and it should be feasible.
That said, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you, to your beautiful family and to the editors 🎅
I appreciate that! We will do as much as we can. But feel free to help grow the channel so we can travel !
Your mom is a warrior! Man supporting you to chase your dream at that age! That must have been terrifying for her.. Amazing!
Thank you she was always a great inspiration and her support throughout the years was singlehanded the reason I am still here today
Cheers Nick! Heres to next year being twice as successful as the last! 🎉 🍻
yeah that would be quite something. I am privately hoping to reach 100,000 next year! now that would need a party with all the right people
happy Christmas, honestly I'd like a video about what the native people of japan ate if anyone knows. before the introduction of noodles and all that.
interesting! that could be a proper show one day
God Jul to you, Nick, so happy to have stumbled on this channel through Chris! Appreciate all the Nick Lore, you've lived quite a life. I'll be celebrating Christmas by drinking lots of aquavit with my Scandinavian family tomorrow, so cheers to you and your loved ones.
That sounds like you are going to have a wonderful time. Happy Holidays to you too and thanks for tagging along since the beginning
Congratulations on this amazing year, and I must say, I'm very much looking forward to what 2023 may bring to your channel! Definitely has to include a, eh, "research trip" to Hiroshima, Kansai and so on. The mysteries of the Okonomiyaki must be unravelled!
I agree ! There is so much more to experience and explore. I want to travel and eat! ITADAKIMASU!!!
YES FINALLY SOME NICK LORE! You doin' great out here, man. Appreciate your past and story, you've had quite a journey. Next year is gonna be even better! Happy Holidays from Canada! 🎄✨🍀💖
Happy days and thanks for tagging along on my food stories. Canada is a lovely place we went there in August and had a blast !
As a baker i would love to see you taste some delicious bread. Real bread. Sadly, it‘s not junk food.
Anyway, keep the grind going! Love this kind of content!
… And your editor needs a raise.
Man you're my new favorite RUclipsr! I've always loved martial arts, food, and Japan - and you're all of those in one package! I love your stories every time.
I appreciate that! For sure. Welcome to the channel TOMODACHI
I always knew that you looked familiar, the imagination show on NHK was my favorite thing to watch when i was younger. I absolutely loved you there
That’s so awesome to connect here on RUclips !
I honestly surprised to hear that Nic had 4 daughters cause I only follow him on this channel, but now thinking back, the jokes he made and his sense of humor, it all made sense
BoooM Kaptain! In my gym they call me the Captain 👩✈️
It'll be great if you can get the trashtaste boys and Chris to do a crossfit wod together, thrusters and echo bike combination please 😂
LoL 😂 I actually just invested in 6 new echo bikes
@@JunkFoodJapan count Natsuki and Ryotaro in as well!
I think I saw that NHK show randomly talking about Attack on Titan and it made me watch the show lol. Happy New Year Nic and the gang!
I miss that show Happy New Year
Nick, great channel and glad to see it grow. Got it on through Chris' cameos and everything. Anyways, how about training TrashTaste and Chris for a martial arts tournament? That would be highly amusing.
I think we could do a Chess/Kickboxing tournament actually
Great to learn more about the man behind the channel. You have an interesting life story haha, leaving your (second) home country at 18 for a completely new country to pursue MMA. It's always interesting to peel back the layers of the people who run our favourite RUclips channels :)
Also.. you have to reveal more about that fight at 0:57! Why was the other person mad at you??? Did he get any punishment for beating up a 13-14 year old kid??
all very great questions, one day I shall reveal it here but in case you are interested in that story? You can hit my other chanel "The Tokyo Show" and start with chapter one of "The Blue Eyed Samurai Directors Cut" here I deep dive into the first 3 years of my life in Japan.
This has been a great show so far. Awesome on screen personality.
A collab with Rachel and Jun could be really interesting because they do some food content.
Featuring stuff we don't always see from Japan is always good to see too.
Rachel and Jun! They are great! Would love to meet them and do something
Aye, Greek gang! Family from Crete and Cyprus. 🎉
Greek as always !
I really enjoyed this video and I'm wishing you and your loved ones a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Years.
I would like to see you do a video with John Daub of Only in Japan. It would be interesting to see both of you in a video together.
I would be happy to meet him, used to watch his channel but have never met him.
Definitely one of the best Newcomers of this year, so glad to have found this channel (even tho I don't eat 99% of the food shown)
I am happy the channel is here to stay and can't wait for what we will see in 2023. Also open to more sports-related stuff, a good "after food workout" would perfectly fit at the end. ;)
It'd be great to see you more often in the Trash Taste and Abroad crews videos aswell. Great man, great charisma, *ITADAKIMASU!!!*
ps: You should try to get those sweet sweet Sakuraco and Tokyo Treats sponsorships, I bet they'd be happy to have this cooperation ;)
Thank you for your great comment !
We started in February and I really feel we have come a long way. And it’s been so much fun.
That's the best way of doing things, by having fun. It's also nice to see how frequently you mention the team behind, so much positive energy going on here
Excellent video Nicholas. I remember seeing you on Imagi-nation on NHK World years ago. You always seemed like you were having fun there...well you seem like you're having fun in all of your videos actually lol. Anyway, keep up the great work man...really enjoy it. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family!
Hey Imagine Nation TOMODACHI! You are welcome and YES airs all about having fun !
Thanks for the videos this year! I hope the Trash Taste boys have you on the podcast soon! You'd be such an interesting guest! ❤️
Yeah that would really be something !
I can't wait for more episodes! And Okinawa sounds great. I finally went for the first time and oh boy I don't know how they live so long down there. I'd probably eat myself to disaster.
LOL everything in moderation is good, unless you want to work out for endless hours in a gym everyday…Okinawa JFJ sounds like a plan
Would love for you to work with trash taste for an episode or be on their podcast, also can help their bone or boneless chicken argument 😊 love your videos and god jul Nic!
Would be happy to collab with them boys! Let's keep asking for it and it might happen
I love hearing you say that you think everything in life is about balance because it think that's sooo true. It's such a simple concept yet it goes so far.
The still with "Hide the whiskey" makes me wonder.. are you a whisk(e)y drinker? I am, of course in moderation ;)
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours! Can't wait to see what you have in store for us next year! 🎄🎆
Yeah I love Whiskey 🥃 but guilty pleasures come at a price… so I make sure to go to the gym a lot
I did Kyokushin too! Right around the same age as you, when I was 13. So happy!
Osu!
Wow would never have guessed you're Danish based on your English accent.
God Jul, danskjävel! ❤️
God Jul til dig ogsaa! My Engrish is often quite funny, I make up words like Flasty! (Flavory and Tasty)
in Norway we call that "fleske style" "ribbe" not for me, but absolutely a holiday staple
We call it : flæskesteg
Lovely qna. Happy Christmas from Ireland Nic And wishing you and your family and your channel all the best in 2023!!
That’s really nice. Thank you so much and I hope you have a wonderful holiday too
I'm looking forward to future videos. One of my favourites so far is the one you did for Chris Broad's birthday at the teppanyaki restaurant. Also, the sight of you in your uniform in the school dinners episode literally make me laugh out loud when the door opened. Very funny 🤣
Thats so good to hear! Happy days and can't wait to crush it in 2023
Cheers Nick, this is awesome. We watched all of your content over the last few weeks, loving the channel.
That’s so awesome! Feel
Free to hang around for more to come. 2023 is gonna be great for content
Keep up the good work. Looking forward to the videos in 2023 and beyond.

Thank you so much! I’m looking forward to next years season 2 of the show. It’s been so much fun.
Loved this channel from the start. Happy Holidays Nic, looking forward to more UMAI videos in 2023!
Me too. Thank you for hanging around !
After chessboxing i binged some older vids i hadn't seen and it was great seeing the channel number grow.
The genuine enthusiasm is very captivating!
Keep it up and happy holidays
Cheers and happy you found the channel, feel free to help us grow by sharing with friends and family!
Loved the outro to sum up your journey this year. Looking forward to many more to come.
Paul is a fantastic editor and I could not do it without him or Marcus. Them Boys are good
Honestly no matter what you review I'll definitely watch it :)
BooooM the Food professor will be back
I remember watching your sumo documentary, interviewing Hakuho. Would be great to see you dive into that world again, maybe together with chris & connor suffer through a day of sumo training and eating the same food. Also, im not sure how into you are to activities like fishing. But some adventures where you catch the food to later cook and eat would be very interesting! All the best to you sir!
I like this challenge! Not so much the Sumo Challenge but the fishing sounds fun. That Series was amazing “Samurai Spirit”
I can't wait to see more of what you do! Your videos have been great for figuring out what I'd like to check out when I visit Japan next year. :) Happy Holidays and Happy New year!
I am happy you are inspired! Feel free to share the channel with your friends and family
Merry Christmas Nick! Love your videos, looking forward to seeing more places to eat in Japan!
Me too ! I want to eat it all
Merry Christmas Nick and thank you for the amazing content. I can't wait to see more of it in 2023.
I can’t wait to get started on 2023
This channel will hit 1 Million subs very soon! 🎉
I wish ! Thanks for the encouragement! 2023 I am ready for it!
Love seeing some backstory and history behind the channel and you! Wishing you and yours a happy new year. Hope you had a beautiful Christmas!
Happy Christmas here! Thanks for tagging along on my food stories. And all the best to you too
Always enjoyable to watch your videos Nick and team. Looking forward to see what you guys will bring next year. Have a Merry time and wishing yous a great near year
Same to you! Next year is gonna be great
Just subscribed, found the channel from Abroad in Japan. Along with your food reviews I really enjoyed your helping Chris train and the Spartan Race etc. I think you definitely have an interesting life story that is worthy of a second channel. Your background, life story, training and living in Japan and raising your family there would give you a very unique perspective and possibly be of great interest to those who not only want to visit and explore Japan but might want to relocate there too. I'm sure it's a very daunting thing to consider and a very Involved process but once again your background more than gives you the experience to be a excellent source of information.
It’s a good point, but did you see The Tokyo Show? I have done quite a few things there! It’s just me exploring RUclips
@@JunkFoodJapan I'll have to check it out. Thanks
Great video! What a great year it was for this channel. Congrats! So happy for you. Let’s hope we get 100K in no time 🙏
Will get there soon enough! BooooM
I'm sorry that I missed out on this! Merry Christmas! Your awesome man, keep up the good work! Kudos for keeping Chris Broad alive throughout the spartan race!
Thank you for tagging along here. But my wife Angela was what kept him alive on that race, she kept me alive too
"mixed marital arts"! DUDE!!!! I am dying here!!! help, air, oh my god.. XD
It's technically Karate and Kickboxing I was good at, but I did play around with MMA for a couple years.
@@JunkFoodJapan I meant the typo, in your video. "marital" instead of "martial". Anyway, I bet your wife loves it ;) I guess with 4 children, the mixed marital arts went well.
Thoroughly enjoyed this video! Thank you for sharing so much about your journey and family. Can't wait to see what you accomplish in the new year. I'd love to see a collaboration with the Trash Taste boys and the girls from Tokyo Creative.
Looking forward to connecting with them next year !
It would be fun to make an episode where you come home to denmark, and show the food you used to eat. And one for your wife too.
That sounds like a really good idea
Lol I like your editor.
Also a marathon with the traah taste boys would be cool. And now that I think about it, I don't think you've been a guest there, right?
No not yet, I look forward to meeting the crew
Can't wait to see what you have in store for 2023!!
Thank you Andy ! Appreciate the support
@@JunkFoodJapan No worries! One thing I'd love to see you do is vending machines. My friend Ericsurf6 is known for going to all these different machines. A collab between you two would be epic!
Thanks for answering my questions! Merry Christmas Nic!
You are welcome 🙏
Thanks!
ITADAKIMASU!!!
Enjoyed the Q&A! Personally I prefer Hiroshima style okonomiyaki, love the noodles on the bottom =D Luckily there was (and hopefully still is) a place in tokyo station that has it 😋
I wonder ? Most likely though
Thank you Nic for the amazing food content!
I got hooked on your content because your videos mr affable.
Looking forward for more eating across japan with you!
ITADAKIMASU!
You are welcome and welcome here too TOMODACHI
Fun video!! Have a merry Xmas !🎄
Merry Christmas to you too
oh god, I know I'm late to the party, we're way closer to this year's christmas than last year's lol
but I loved watching this, I had no idea you've been in Japan for so long! and that you were a TV host for 7 years!! you're such an amazing and well accomplished person, I had no idea you were a martial arts and tv celebrity since you always seem so humble and very affable hahahah, your mama certainly raised you right
also YES! A journey across japan style of Junk Food Japan special sounds absolutely fantastic! safe to say I'll be continuing watching with great interest going forward, all the best Nic 💪
Thank you and welcome to the channel TOMODACHI
Thanks Nick for JFJ! You have a really amazing energy and I love watching your videos because of your lovely personality! All the best from Switzerland for Christmas! I wish you a great 2023 year for your channel! Keep up the good work!

Thank you so much for following the channel and please keep following us
Merry Christmas Nick, thanks for all the content 🎉
Thank you so much 😊
Great video Nic! I think my question was a little to long winded to make the cut, but the ones you picked were great. Happy Holidays and have a safe New Year!
remind me again what was the question?
@@JunkFoodJapan Basically just a longer version of "What food in Japan is underrated?" since most of what food bloggers in Japan is Sushi, Ramen, occasionally okonomiyaki.
You are amazing! Merry Christmas.
Thank you 🙏 and merry Christmas to you too
Happy Christmas and happy new year to you, looking forward to more videos from you really enjoy them! Have a good one.
All the best to you too!
"As I laid in the fetal position hiding from my opponent I came to the conclusion that I needed to get stronger." 😂 Holy cow I can't stop laughing at this imagery
Hey it worked! I got really strong and travelled the world with it
The way you paved yourself forward with a moment that made you wanna not hide and bolt is really inspiring! Hope for a fantastic Christmas holiday and New Years. Hope this channel grows from Junk Food Japan to World!

Also my question is... Have you tried turtle? I've never had... I don't even know what the texture of it could be. But I do know some places in japan sell turtle dishes.
Thank you for encouraging message.
Turtle? I have heard of turtle stew but never tried it. I think you are talking about suppon? it's considered a aphrodisiac and also to hold healing powers inspired from Chinese medicin. I can't remeber if I had it or just saw someone have it? It's the turtle with the long neck and soft shell
@@JunkFoodJapan huh, didn’t know it was a aphrodisiac. But yeah! Soft shell turtle. I usually see em showcased on shows online and F#ck Thats Delicious.
I myself.. I’ve tried a few animal meats, had some gator ..tasted … I’m gonna say musty with a greasy finish. 🐊 also tried it in jerky form.. a little better taste but still greasy.
Finally got the time to watch this one. Looking forward to more videos over the next year!
More to come TOMODACHI
Another great one sir! Merry Christmas and happy holidays to you and yours.
Thanks and all the best to you too
Merry Christmas Master Nic!! Love your content and stories, even though some of them don't look too much of a "JUNK" haha! Also love your positiveness and spirits! Have a happy holiday and look forward to more interesting content in 2023
