Found a Z06 with 80k miles, blue, and in gret condition with a clean title for $19k. Super tempting but with my wife's health it will have to wait another year or two. There was also a base 1999 with manual for $12k with less than 60k miles. Also another was found this morning, a yellow model year with 170k miles for $8k with a clean title but automatic. Woof. I do feel a bit dumb for buying an NC Miata (on Ohlins) for more than that. However. I am absolutely in love with my car. That's an odd price?? Good condition & under 50K miles. 17k & up easily..
C5 is becoming more rare each yr. QUALITY C5"s are going to sought-after guaranteed.
I’m 18 and I bought one because I just couldn’t live with myself if I didn’t buy a c5 or c6😂😂😂, needless to say i got an 01 with 125k for 11.5k, I’m like the 4th owner in 3 years tho, car has definitely been passed around, but you can tell the past owners took well care of it. Currently has a wrap on it and a little tiny crack on the stereo plastic corner. I just hope I didn’t get ripped off. I didn’t think I did until i started watching some of these videos. :/
That last one is almost tempting because it is so darn cheap and it would be a great platform to start dinking around with for not much money.
I’m so tired of the interior complaints, it’s as good or better than anything else out at the time. Such a copy/paste complaint just to parrot other reviews. I love it, I hate iPad dash bs where I need an old priest and a young priest to find the climate controls deep in a menu.
Still a beautifully aged car, of which the interior is great, but if you are to think of all things considered, there were similar if not better alternatives
@@bfctz632 I'm talking about other sports cars: Porsche Boxster/911, BMW Z3, miles ahead of Mustang, way better than gen 1 Viper, etc. Corvette was never a luxury car, but compared to other sports cars of the era the interior was at least mid-pack and better than most at it's price point.
who buys a sports car for its interior anyway
I don’t see many of these for sale in North America! People who have them keep them!! I wonder what happened to Chevy’s new Mid engine vet that was 75k? I guess it never hit the market!
They're easy to fix.
I was thinking he was gonna say 5-7k…silly me
I have a corvette c5 tigershark i basically added gold rims and gold paint to it
14k? Small amount of money?! You're joking, right? Most Americans don't have that lying around, let alone to spend on a GM toy that'll fall apart.
Woof. I do feel a bit dumb for buying an NC Miata (on Ohlins) for more than that.
However. I am absolutely in love with my car. Just tonight, I took a 90-degree corner labeled "25 MPH" and saw 57 on the speedometer with no tire noise or drama. I entered a roundabout at 45, gave it a dab of brake on the transition to point the nose, and realized I could have done it a lot faster.
shhh dont tell people the secret of c4 and c5 yet!
C5 Corvettes are starting to get more expensive for really good ones with extremely low miles. C3 Corvettes are still somewhat affordable even a somewhat decent one can be like $6,000-$9,000,maybe even cheaper. However I could be wrong.
RUclipsrs actively helping inflate car prices
Every one of mine leaked terribly. Like C6 window goes down to close under the rubber. C5 does not drop down but is pressure fit against rubber causing terrible leaks. C6 improved...$26k 6 yrs ago!!
I’ve got a black 2000 with 64k on it I’m about to sell on eBay 👻
The C5 tied with the Lotus Espirit for last car with pop ups.
Then you can drive down the road looking like a retired divorced alcoholic golfer 😂
Geez. I wonder what stigma people have on me when I'm driving my 81 rabbit diesel down the road. I get alot of smiles and thumbs up but I'm sure there are a few that have negative thoughts.
And that's a bad thing why?...
I bought my 1997 C5 at a wreaking yard for 11 grand with 40,000 on it and I drove it home I still have it
$14k is cheap?
That's an IDENTICAL radio setup to my 1997 Chevy Blazer, lol
And 98 chevy cargo van.
I have a C5....the turn signal switch is plucked from a Chevy Cavalier.
You paid 14k for a pre 01 automatic? Yikes
Corvette's c4 are even cheaper and, in my opinion, look better on the outside. They are around 3-7k here in NY depending on the state, that one I'd seriously consider buying!
Neighbor across the street is selling his z06 for 10k has 120k miles on it forgot too ask year but it’s in pretty good shape idk if I should try and get it
🤣 that radio is the same one thats in my 98 gmc yukon that's ridiculous
The dealers in my area hoarded all the c5 from the auctions and over priced them. When i looked, they were 17k. On craigslist, only 10k. This was 10 years ago. Same with with 03-04 cts-v.
I honestly think they are the sexiest model years. New or newer ones are beautiful for sure, but there’s something about those lines
C4s are usually that price with good mileage, C5s are in the higher 10s like around 18k
I love the heads up display
90's sports cars are awesome and gaining in value.
I passed up an 86 with 190,000 MI for 5,000 yet to find models with around 100,000 miles and lower only a bit for $6,500
Nice I've got a white c3 1980 with bubble window. I am the 3rd owner of it
I remember my first 110 H.P
Any of the flip lights are great
The Standard model coupe had a top speed of 175mph! Still fast even by today's standards!
These used to be listed for under $10k before COVID. Prices have skyrocketed.
They’re relatively cheaper because a lot of the parts are shared which isn’t necessarily a bad thing
C6 ZO6 will be the next really hot collector car I have a feeling...
I bought a 1991 Corvette with an original 5013 miles! Yes, FIVE THOUSAND THIRTEEN MILES! For $20,00. Love it.
They are very cool and the Targa is a big plus. Those go for $7k- $9k with around 100k miles. The cheap interior plastics are the only downside, but that's normal GM issues.
C5’s are definitely a great value right now. Hell in my area a C5 Base sells for less than a 4th gen Camaro or Trans Am with the same miles. Performance wise you can’t get much better for the money.
Mines 23,000 and it's super fun. if you pay it off it's cheaper than 90% of cars on the road. My last one had no problems when someone t-boned it at 187000 miles. Beat that Camry!
Plz do something with those rims. Welcome to the club
I agree but im more worried about the safety features like side impact and knee air bags. Spend a bit more money and buy the C6 instead.
Just get a 98-02 ws6 trans am. Still gorgeous cars to this day.
Camaros too 😎
No comparison to a vette. Had a 99 camaro, great engine, terrible car. Vette is lightyears better car in every way except price
Triple black convertible C5 was my first car ever. 😊
I just bought one with 150k miles for 7 grand. I love it so much!!
I have a 87 C4 Corvette and I've driven it to Indianapolis Michigan Mississippi Missouri Texas North Carolina Wichita, KS Atlanta, GA 😁💪🏿👍🏿💯
Definitely reliable! I’ve seen tons of c5’s with over 300,000 miles on the original engine! I’ve never seen an ls3 with that many and I drive a 2012 grand sport
You got the older c5; 97-99. In 2000, you get the much better, thinner 5 apple wheels as well as 5 hp bump to 350. Apparently the 97-99 LS1 motors aren’t as strong as the 00-04 LS1
